Just got back from a 7 night holiday to Sol Katmandu... what can I say? It wasn't enough time to enjoy it!! The pools, splash park, soft play and Katmandu park are fantastic. Staff are superb and get things sorted quickly - we had a air con leak at 11.30pm and there was a maintenance worker with us and fixing it within 10 minutes. The children's entertainers are OUTSTANDING and do SO much with the kids. My daughter (3) loved them, even though she didn't go to kid's clubs she had brilliant fun with them at the evening discos and if they saw her around they would stop for a chat with her - seeing the activities the kids clubs were doing, the kids were having a brilliant time and all adored the entertainers. The food was brilliant and catered well for my daughter who has allergies. There is food and drink available on all inclusive until midnight and the bar is still open after that for paying customers. There isn't a bad thing to say about it, other than that we didn't have enough time to do everything we wanted to do!! I can't wait to go back.
After reading many reviews and looking at several pictures of rooms I was rather worried about our stay. We had got it half the price of the big travel agents by booking with On The Beach and had emailed the hotel to confirm we were getting what we thought we had booked. The responses from the hotel were fast and polite. They clarified all details and agreed to our request for a room that had been refurbished in a quiet part of the hotel away from the lift. They supplied the cot bed which we had asked for too. THE HOTEL was excellent. The foyer has a pond with terrapins, frogs and fish which our boys loved looking at. The pool area had 3 pools close together and lots of loungers. The pools were not heated and were cold but that didn't stop a lot of families. I had neoprene wet suits for my boys but they didn't like it in a morning. The children's pool was waist height for me at 5 foot 4.The hotel has a nice square with a bit of grass for the kids to run round. The hotel foyer has tables covered in chalk paint and pots of chalk to entertain the kids. They have the amusement park which has 3D cinema experiences and an upside down house which tells the myth of Katmandu and has activities inside which again the boys loved. Opposite this area is a large ALDI store which I wish I had known about as I woudn't have packed nappies or wipes. It has a COSTA opposite too which I used as the cups in the hotel were small so I reused my COSTA cup with 4 cups of coffee from the hotel. SOFTPLAY was great, a large indoor soft play which on the one morning it rained was fabulous. Everyone has to wear socks inside. WATER PARK was fabulous. Ankle deep water with lots of slides and water guns. Our boys loved it. I recommend water shoes to be used as the children who stepped out of the water and went too fast went flying. I saw ata least 1 fall every 5 minutes. THE RESTAURANT was fabulous. It has a large indoor area and a large outdoor area which has grass around it. Perfect for kids to run round while we actually ate part of our meal in peace. It was heaven. Loada of food. It wasn't always boiling hot but we have kids - I never get to eat a piping hot meal as I end of faffing over them. As its a family hotel maybe my standards were lower than if I was away on business. There was a wide range of food, fish freshly cooked, meat freshly cooked. Loads of fruit, breads, salads, deserts, etc. I had no complaints. Depending on were you sit the staff who insist on getting drinks at lunch and dinner time can be very slow. Several times we had finished a meal (30 minutes of eating) before we received a drink. One night I asked 6 times until I got fed up and went to get drinks from the bar outside. So if you find an area with good staff then keep going back there. We didn't meet any rude staff, I did overhear several rude parents when staff told them to make sure their children had shoes on. There was a real mix of clientele at the hotel. Some language I overheard directed at children made me stop and do a double take and there were plenty of familes with well mannered thoughtful children there too. THE ROOM was wonderful. We got a Family Xtra Suite which was basically 2 rooms with an adjoining door. So 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms - 1 had a bath with shower over it and 1 a huge shower. They were immaculate. But if you are particular you may moan that there is evidence of smudges of white paint on the floor. We didn't care. They looked new, were clean and big. Our room had 2 single beds which after reading reviews I took 2 zip ties and tied the legs together to keep the boys from falling through the middle. It had a huge TV, wardrobe with mini fridge, kettle, cups and coffee and tea which they didn't replenish so if you don't want to buy a pot either pocket tea bags from breakfast or take coffee with you. Theres glasses in each room too. The other room had a trundle bed so a single bed facing the TV which we used as a settee and it had a bed on the floor tucked under it which we pulled out at night. 2 towels for each person, replaced whenever left on the floor. Rooms had soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, razor. Plenty of room for the kids to wrestle around in. The cot we asked for was a travel cot with a mattress which was fine. Quite old, had a couple of rips in but it was safe so I didn't complain. Beach towels were in the room on arrival and were swapped for 1 euro per towel. ENTERTAINMENT seemed popular, our boys weren't interested so we didn't go. LOCATION - it is 250 metres from the beach and its 100 metres from bars and the BCM nightclub. When we went we did not hear any noise and there were plenty of people about. But I was very glad we had a room on the opposite side of the hotel and would recommend asking for it as I bet in July and August if you were facing out you would hear noise. Every evening we walked to the beach and along the promenade. At the far right hand of the beach there is a rock pool area and we found crabs, shrimps and fish which was lovely. The beach was clean and very child friendly. We had a wonderful time, we would go back again and recommend the hotel to everyone. Ultimately we were not looking for perfection. We wanted to go someone clean, nice, with friendly people, were we could eat without wanting to murder our children, were they were safe, entertained and in a good location. It was perfect in June. I recommend taking kids cutlery as my 2 year old couldn't manage the big ones. Kids cups as they were too big for him to manage. Tupperware as you cant take food from the restaurant and the snack bar is limited. I took some Tupperware and it was so handy to pop fruit, make sandwiches at breakfast, etc. My kids can be fussy when tired so it just made life easier.
Our family of 12 have just spent 14 nights here, The hotel was lovely, room always cleaned and fresh sheets/towels everyday. Food was a bit repetitive but it’s the same as most All Inclusive holidays. Our children never went hungry and we didn’t need to eat out at all. Any problems, the reception staff will help if not the manager was great with a few questions we had. Pools were ok, ashame they werent attached to the water park. Can use small inflatables in the pool. Do not rely on the lifeguards at all as they just sit about talking to each other and using their mobile phones. Close to Magaluf beach and Palma Nova beach which were both lovely. Close to all shops and bars. Just across the road from BCM and a 2 min walk to the strip. We had 6 children who all took part in the Kids Clubs and couldn’t wait for the next day to go again. They were so fantastic with the children, always had so much enthusiasm and encouraged them so much. A huge shout out to Carlos and his big brother. Thankyou Thankyou for a great holiday 👍🏼
Don’t take note of all the bad reviews , hotel is great for kids and adults. It’s hard to be bored . Ye the rooms aren’t 4 star but what do you expect for your money if you want a luxury holiday you will pay a lot more than here . Food is substantial, always has a good choice. And I have always had a sunbed , maybe not prime location pool side but it’s fine your not a million miles away ! All in a great stay , would definitely come back
We went to this hotel as we thought there would be loads for the kids to do. Unless you put them in a kids club(which we don’t like doing) there wasn’t much to keep them occupied. There was a part of the hotel which had 4D rides, the upside down house and crazy golf but only a few of these were free the rest you had to pay for separately. My eldest(8) thought the rides were ok but my youngest (4) hated them. The splash park looks huge in the photos but in reality it was tiny and the kids got bored of it quite quickly. I really didn’t rate the food at all but most of the rest of our party thought it was ok. The food was never hot and it was the same things every night, although the breakfast selection was very good. The all inclusive option only included local brand drinks and the cocktails were from a machine so weren’t very nice and there was always a huge queue to get a drink no matter what time of day it was. The rooms were tiny and definitely not big enough for a family of 4. We would have liked tea making facilities in the room and also a safer balcony! We were on the 10th floor there was only a sheet of glass between the sliding doors (which didn’t lock) and a sheer drop. The hotel has a no towels on sun lounger policy but even at 8am we struggled to find a free lounger due to them all being already taken and covered with towels. The room for the entertainment was small and definitely not big enough for the amount of people staying at the hotel. We went outside of the hotel to get drinks as we could not get a seat. The surrounding area is all stag and hen do’s(which I expected for magaluf) but I didn’t realise the hotel would be next door to the big clubs which means the noise from the club goers from 3am onwards was horrendous and we struggled to sleep. The room was cleaned daily and new towels were given but the sheets were not changed during our entire stay. The staff were ok, no issues with them but certainly not the friendly type. All in all it was very expensive what what you get and we definitely would not go back
Me and my family have just arrived back home from 1 week in sol katmandu.our 2 boys aged 4 and 7 had an amazing time...i find it hard to believe the bad reviews I had read about (as I always review hotels before I book)as I always say ,everyone is entitled to an opinion.in our experience the staff were so helpful from the minute we got there.the hotel was always spotless.it does have the same old things like sunbeds being claimed very early and it being very busy at food times, but it's to be expected and we just dealt with it..the boys always had something to do weather it be in the splash park, pool, soft play area or katmandu park there was always something happening..the kids club was amazing and the night time entertainment was too.i would highly recommend this hotel for family's and the young at heart.my wife was after a pin for her jacket (as she collects them werever we go).they couldn't find the key to the cabinet and we were leaving very early the next morning.the staff rang our room half an hour later asking for our details so they could send one too her...its the little things that count. The food was also great lots off choice everyday.all in all we had a great time and will be back next year...thanks too all at sol katmandu and see you soon.
Superior rooms NOT got basic family room no balcony even though paid extra for superior room. See through glass door on bathroom didn't close tight (I like to do my bodily functions in private) Nowhere to set suitcases very limited hanging and clothes storage no mirror in room . Couldn't use air conditioning as was constantly dripping. No cold water so when showering need to be very careful. As a family of six at times couldn't seat us all together at meal times .Staff so unfriendly especially the older one's (a lady at the bar called Cameron was the only one who was pleasent and friendly at all times ) Food was cold and at times uncooked and as drinks were served to you by staff you had to wait a while. We ended up going out for lunch and as paid for all inclusive not really what you want to be doing .Manager Mr Diaz was not helpful at all. Worst of all was in the middle our holiday our room was allocated to someone else who walked in while I was lying on the bed then when complained got locked out of our room. On the good side rooms are clean and theme park is good if you want to go to the park do it just don't stay in this hotel.
Myself and family have just returned from a week staying at sol Katmandu it was great there was 11 of us 6 adults and 5 children of all ages 9,10,11,13 and 15 and there was something for all of them. There is also a kids club at the hotel for younger kids which they take the kids off your hands for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon and look after and care for ur child whilst you chill by the pool... Could not fault this hotel food was great rooms are all you need for your stay be warned there are no drawers in the room just a double wardrobe I would recommend taking more hangers... Considering it's right next to the strip noise was not an issue... People who have reviewed moaning of cold food and it being repetitive is rubbish if u want hot food get to the restaurant for when it opens that is when u get the best selection and hottest food... Be aware you will be charged €20 deposit of pool towel for the week and is €1 per day per towel so I would take your own if you weren't planning too luckily we always take our own... There is only one bar open at night with 2 members of staff so could be queuing for 15 to 20 minutes but this isnt a complaint just letting holiday makers aware for when they go... We booked with JET2 and could not fault them they were fantastic from start to finish... All attractions were great we all explored them and made the most of them you can take inflatables in the pool I read a review on here before we went saying no inflatables our kids had them in the pool everyday... Another heads up do not rely on the life guards to save ur child or supervise your children in the pool as they are as much use as a chocolate ashtray my step daughter nearly drowned we were too far away to get to her in time luckily a holiday maker passing pulled her out before we got there mean while the life guards were painting there nails (not literally)... Cleaners drag there heals a bit so if u want your room cleaning properly speak to the cleaner or reception and if u want fresh towels leave them on the bathroom floor I made that mistake they only replace them if they are on the floor... Which is understandable... Staff were all friendly and polite even the cleaners... Fridge in the room is great no need to buy water you can get water bottles from the restaurant at lunch an dinner time just stock up. I would also recommend the pirate show not too far from the hotel we had a great night food was lovely and soft drinks beer and sangria unlimited all night. I would give this hotel 5 stars without a doubt thanks for having us...
****Terrible**** Dilapidated and shoddy hotel most definitely not a four star. Two star maximum. Unhelpful hotel staff. Dangerous pool areas boards up and down Couldn’t cater for the guests. Only 1 places for whole hotel for food and drinks with very long cues. its Best just to go out. Day and night. Small room for the entertainment no where near enough seats. With very limited staff. Entertainment area and seats and unable to get drinks I think this resort purposely forces all guest out the hotel limiting the all inclusive. On arrival at 02:00 no food or drinks supply for the young children. The Food was ok though nice and hot too. Kids club staff were good too. There’s some really nice hotels right next door. Would be perfect for self catering or half board.
Myself, my husband and our four children have just returned from a 10 night stay. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our trip, the experiences in the park are excellent, splash park is fun for all ages and the children loved the indoor play area. The food is good, fresh meat and fish cooked on the griddle each lunch and tea time. The experience is completed by the incredibly talented staff and entertainment team. Each member of staff made us feel welcome and more like a friend than a guest. Patri especially went out of her way with each guest and is an asset to the resort. Staff constantly clean and everywhere is immaculate, they will also offer assistance with anything you require. We hope to return and highly recommend the hotel.
