Just returned from the most relaxing holiday in Cala D'or. First time since 1989, but the place has everything you could wish for in a relaxing holiday. We stayed at the Sentido Tucan Hotel (Adults Only) for two weeks. It's a fabulous Hotel, offering both half board and all inclusive. The food was superb and catered for all tastes. Thompson Holiday Reps were helpful and always available. The evening entertainment was good too. Situated in the heart of Cala D'or, it's close to all restaurants, bars, shops and the fabulous Marina. Don't hesitate to book yourself in there, you will not be disappointed
Stayed here for one week Oct10th,had a wonderful time, staff all helpful and friendly, excellent food and entertainment, lovely room, spacious and clean with a side sea view, Bus stop, shops and beach across the road,(I was in a single room)really lovely hotel and I hope to return in May.
Just got back from a week holiday cala d or a fantastic place hotel tocan was lovely ideal for shops and restaurants entertainment was slight let down when they had a act on was only for a hour then just music for a hour nothing after 11 bar closed at 11 and not 12 as stated and unfortunately was there when the miss tourist of Spain was held and no respect for other guests. Some staff friendly pepa was a great laugh some restaurant staff ie young females miserable food very repetitive but was handy you can swap evening meal for lunch so we ate out a few times as we was half board. The hotel had good points and some bad
Stayed here with a friend early October and had a fabulous week. Weather was great for 5 of our 7 days. We were able to check in to our room by 1pm after arriving at 12:15pm but were able to have drinks at the bar/pool while waiting. Our room was great; we overlooked the stage/pool area and weren't disturbed by any noise. Comfy beds with choice of soft or firmer pillows, and a safe to use in each room with no extra charge. Nice little fridge in each room also. Hairdyer also good in the bathroom. Wifi could be a bit hit and miss during the day but always seemed fine in the evenings. Food was great with lots of choice for all meals - no idea how anyone can be negative on the food in the buffet restaurant. We did, however, book a night in the Tapas restaurant (which the All Inclusive gives you for one night each week of your stay), but feel that totally lacked atmosphere with only 4 other tables in use, no background music and poor choice of food. We decided not to stay and went back to the bustling buffet where staff are very friendly and work so hard. There is wine and beer on tap to use for all on All Inclusive. Nice to have a choice of whether to sit outside under cover or inside. Nice lounge area at the end of the restaurant. Bar staff were so friendly and service was excellent. The entertainment team of Lauren and Krassi were brilliant! Plenty activities during the day for those that wanted to join in with Yoga, Darts, Giant Jenga, Sangria making, Aqua aerobics. Great evening entertainment with quizzes and local acts performing. No problem getting sun beds each day, plenty to go around, but they do tend to be rather close to each other! We always managed to get a good seat close to the stage to watch the entertainment. All premium drinks available from 10:30-23:00. Can't fault this hotel, loved the location which is right in the centre just 2 minutes from the beach and local bars and restaurants (which we didn't feel we needed to use). It was about a 12 minute easy walk to the marina which was lovely and which we took when we had a cloudy day. Can't wait to go back, can't recommend enough.
We made a more or less last minute booking to head off to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. This hotel booked through Thomas Cook came out tops in our searches. not too far to travel, close to the beach. We went half board. Transfer was around an hour from the airport. We really enjoyed our stay. for October the weather was fine. We like to swim in the sea which was warm enough once you got used to it. the Hotel pool was a little chilly but after a few lengths a dip in the adjacent hot tub to warm up was welcome. The room was fairly standard. very clean with balcony overlooking the pool. some rooms had a sea view. The main town beach was less than 100 yards down the road. lots of local shopping outlets for gifts, clothes, eating (and drinking) on the doorstep. The breakfast was good with reasonable choice to suit everyone. Dinner was exceptional. We only stopped three nights, very different menu each night. welcomed with a drink and perhaps a special appetiser. Dinner was served from 6.30 till 9.30 we did not feel rushed and there was still plenty of choice after 8. The staff were all friendly and made us feel welcome even sharing a joke across the language barrier. (us Brits expect others to speak English) What made it special for us was the bottle of Brut they left in our room on ice the afternoon of our Anniversary with rose petals on the bed. Adults only hotel with no kids. Entertainment in the form of cabaret proceeded by the usual quiz and bingo to engage the guests (not our thing but each to their own.) Would certainly recommend this Hotel. Although it is nice to go to different places, we would go back for a longer stay and hope to see a bit more of the Island than time permitted.
We stayed for one week on all inclusive. We found all the staff very friendly and pleasant the rooms were well servised no charge for safe, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge and adequate storage facilities, the shower tray leaked which caused water to pool on the floor we moped up with towels so no big deal really. We had a noise issue first night as our room was immediately opposite the entertainment outdoor stage and over the bar area. We discussed with hotel staff who were extremely helpful and offered a choice of alternative room which was accepted and this was fine for the rest of the week. Found the food very good fresh and a nice choice and variation better than expierenced in similar rated hotels we have stayed in. Th entertainment was down to personal taste some of the acts were medioca but a lot of the residents seemed to enjoy them I would have preferred a bit of mix with some authentic music perhaps The hotel is ideal situated for shops, visiting the various bays and the marina was only a 15 minute walk away. Overall we really enjoyed the week.
Just returned from 7 nights at the Tucan. Stayed all inclusive on a girlie break - me (35) and my mum (65). Wanted an adults only break so it was ideal to have an adults hotel, although to be fair the hotel guest were predominantly 50+ so activities and atmosphere was aimed at this age group. Room was lovely - no complaints and the housekeepers kept it lovely. As has already been mentioned - towels could do with replacing. Small and well used - stayed at similar hotels who do this better and maybe provide robe/slippers too. Booked a sea view room but definitely not much of a view - even though it was at the right side of the building, can definitely see the sea but if I was to return would book pool view instead. Walls were too high for any view to be honest. Noise on the first night (Saturday) and the last night (Friday) was really noisy due to the location. Especially having bottle bank emptied at 2:30am outside and fire alarm go off after this. Location was fantastic - perfectly positioned for Cala Gran beach, shops and restaurants! It can be noisy in the evening, but I don’t mind a bit of noise and it’s nice to hear some music drifting in, although no lights on balcony for evening nightcaps? Disappointing! The staff at the Tucan were fantastic! Lauren - the Thomas Cook rep was the best holiday rep that I have ever met - she made every single guest feel welcome, got to know everybody and always have 110% - I really do hope Thomas Cook reads these reviews and rewards her for the fantastic job she has done. All the bar staff were lovely and had a smile! Even the cat was friendly! Activities were slow paced but geared to the clientele - aqua aerobics, darts and jenga. Quiz/game in the evening before local act. The acts were a bit hit and miss but they were a fair quality overall. Food - didn’t enjoy breakfast - would have preferred a bigger selection of sliced fruit, whole fruit near doors would often have fruit flies which was a bit off putting but nothing you can do about that! Selection overall was very limited and show cooking was present but they cooked in bulk and left in trays so the fish and meats could dry out. Overall had some fantastic parts of this hotel - staff, decor, location but other things would need a tweak before this was truly 4 star!
We have stayed here before. Still great food and a brilliant atmosphere. The beach is only 100 yards away. Cala dor is jammed packed with restaurants so no shortage of places to go. We are all inclusive, so eat mainly in the hotel. Lovely holiday.
Unfortunately we did not realise that the Hotels evening entertainment is set on an outdoor stage and can go on until midnight (however it was usually until about 11-11.30pm every night) and we are not night owls!! We moved from a sea view room (but they're really side sea view rooms) to a pool view room (which has the sun all afternoon & into the evening) as the noise from the next door Hotel was horrendous only to find that it was noisy on poolside as well (but not quite so bad). The ill fitting single glazed balcony doors do not help muffle the noise at all & it's a shame they weren't attended to when the refurb took place! We thought that charging to reserve sunbeds for your stay was a bit much!! Beach towels were provided but you are charged 2 euros if you want to change them for fresh ones. On the positive side the Hotel is in a super position, close to everything in the town & the beach. The staff are lovely, friendly & helpful. We stayed half board & at both breakfast & evening meals there was plenty of choice & food was at a good temperature. The room was pretty average & not really 4* standard as we felt the refurb was done cheaply (only one sliding door on the wardrobe!) However, there was tea/coffee making facilities which were refreshed daily & everywhere was spotlessly clean. We wouldn't go back to this Hotel but we believe that many do, so we think we were probably expecting too much from a Thomas Cook 4* rating as this is the first time we've holidayed with them.
Stayed at the Sentido Tucan for 4 nights just a short break. Lovely hotel for the money. Great comfortable rooms with nice size balcony overlooking the pool. We went all inclusive, because prices very reasonable with Thomas Cook, plus it’s right in centre of Cala D’Or so thought if food not so great could eat out, but the food was fine. Lots of choice each day from the buffet. Even choice of fresh hot cooked meat, fish dishes. Lovely deserts. Drinks, you helped yourself to wine, either red, white & rose, plus beer & soft drinks. We enjoyed the red & the rose & prosecco was very nice. La Tasca was the al la carte a tapas restaurant very good food but room very hot no air conditioning From the bar they had a selection plus cocktails to choose from. The beer San Miguel was fine. Lovely pool, plenty sun beds, always got some, not sure if because time of year. They do plenty activities around the pool. Including aqua aerobics, yoga, darts, table tennis etc Pool bar snacks pizza, burglars, salads, toasties Evening entertainment ok, but we are not into this type of thing. We just enjoyed our evening meal & enjoyed our drinks by the pool area. Hotel has a lovely sun balcony area with comfortable seating. Hotel also in walking distance of the Cala Gran beach, very pretty, plus you can walk to other close beaches which are very picturesque. There is also a shuttle that stops at all the little beaches if you prefer not to walk. I would imagine they get very busy at peak times as they are not huge areas but worth going to see. We had a lovely time at Tucan and the staff work long hours and are very friendly and do anything for you. Thank you for making our stay comfortable & enjoyable.
