I stayed here with my friends in July 2017, this hotel was defiantly an eye opener, the staff are so rude and disrespectful, food for breakfast is disgusting and inedible, balcony door and room was in a terrible state, it was a good holiday as we got on with what we had, but the staff and place itself were horrid. On our first night a man called Tariq came up to our room and kicked a boy to the floor we had brought to our hotel for pre drinks as he thought we had been balcony hopping, they just have no respect for young people abroad. Would not stay here especially if it’s your first holiday as it could ruin it.
My friend and I stayed here for a long weekend in early September. As I visit friends in magaluf at least once a year, I knew the hotel wasn't up to much, and having read the reviews I expected the worst. However, it wasn't bad at all. The check in was pleasant and efficient, they take a 100 euro deposit... All you need to do is remember to check your room thoroughly straight away and FILL IN AND IMMEDIATELY RETURN TO RECEPTION THE DAMAGE REPORT THEY GIVE YOU. It's your fault if you don't, (I'll return to this later). Room was okay, decent decor, bits of damage here and there but nothing major. Clean enough and maid came in twice and changed towels both times in 3 days. Pool small, but okay, we didn't go to sit around the pool. Didn't eat in hotel, and why would you with so much choice nearby at reasonable prices? The check out is where I return to my earlier point and have the biggest problem with. I checked out with the very surly person on the desk and waited 5 minutes while our room was checked. The maid appeared at reception shaking her head and with pictures of a damaged patio table. Thankfully, I had included this on the damage form and even taken pictures on checking in. So the now rather rude man skulked off and reluctantly returned my 100 euros. Clearly they try and take advantage, but forewarned is forearmed and if you fill in the damage form there can be no come backs. Other than that though I can't complain, the hotel was quite busy but very quiet on a night and in morning and beds comfy enough too. If you want luxury, then avoid, but if, like us, you're just looking for a place to lay your head that's central to everything, then this is decent enough for the money.
Probably one of the worst I have ever stayed in. Shame really as it could be so good as the location is perfect and really if it had some money ploughed in and some TLC it could be amazing. Unfortunately it isn't looked after, the staff treat you like they do the previous trouble makers they have had. I felt unwelcome and couldn't wait to get out in the morning to do anything other than stay in that hotel. This is ideal for stag doo's where you don't really care and are just after a roof over your head for the night, that is it. I wouldn't recommend for hen parties. Toilet was disgusting, it had a crack in the toilet seat that pinches the back of your thigh whenever sitting on it. The shower needed you to hold it from start to finish as it blasted everywhere as it wouldn't fit the holster. Rotten wood all round the bathroom door where the shower has been going wild and soaking the woodwork. Picture in the room was just paper inside a wooden frame?? (no need) Arrogant staff that ignore you when at the bar, 4 staff walked past and saw me waiting but the bar man was sat at the DJ table just staring at the pool area chilling?? Took 10 minutes for me to finally be served! Was told of the horror if the food so never tried it. Unless going on a rowdy stag doo where it doesn't matter, then don't bother!
I'm writing this review as I feel compelled to defend the staff that have been wrongly portrayed in quite a few of the earlier reviews. We arrived fairly late evening on 7th of September, as a group of 10 men. After reading previous reviews we were expecting the worse, but being the fun loving type we are, we took time to actually say a smiley hello to all staff members we saw while checking in. It's nice to be nice. The guy on reception took no longer than about 10 minutes to get us all checked in, which included taking payments and deposits for 4 rooms. No bits of paper thrust at us, just friendly efficient service. Yes ok, the rooms are a bit dated, and you would probably struggle to do 100€ damage if I'm honest, but it was clean and comfortable - if you're not delusional enough to expect 5 star at the price. The bar staff were great, always had a laugh and joke with us over the 4 days we were there, but maybe that's because we gave them the respect they deserve and didn't speak to them as though they were servants. At the end of the day, the place doesn't pretend to be something it's not, and if you want to be treated well, just remember to treat the staff with a little respect.
Luckily we only stayed at Lively for 1 night and yes it was the end of season but honestly the hotel needs knocking down. The reception is falling apart but the colour scheme gives you some hope until you see the rooms. Our room reeked of damp from the second we entered. The air conditioning is minimal and just increased the smell of damp more. The room itself is very outdated and not very Magaluf party. There was one working light next to the windows therefore half the room was dark even in the daytime. The paint on the walls was crumbling off and the sheets were covered in stains. Outside our balcony looked out to... nothing, just the bar rooftop which was covered in rubbish and what we assumed was sick. The shower and bath were mouldy and even worse they were blocked. If I had been here for longer than 1 night, I wouldn't have stayed. The staff were OK and we didn't really come into contact with many of them but the man that worked the 'breakfast' was creepy. Housekeeping knocked on our door twice on the morning we left even though check-out wasn't until 12. Didn't stick around for a day at the pool because it seems it doesn't get any sunshine on the pool until 1/2pm and the pool water doesn't even touch the top. Not sure how they ever made a TV program at this place. The hotel definitely isn't lively and unless it has an update over the winter, I'd recommend everyone to AVOID.
Just got back from a week here, firstly the hotel is in an amazing location. There's some good and some bad reviews so we didn't know what to expect. However for the price we paid we wasn't expecting much. We arrived and was greeted by very nice staff and a lovely rep. Our rooms were ready straight away which was at 11.30am. We went up to the room where we was asked to write anything down that was broken in order to receive our deposit back at the end of the week. However when we got there, there was little to tell as the rooms were clean and tidy. The shower was powerful and the rooms were basic but clean. The maids brought fresh towels daily regardless of what they say of every 2 days. And rooms are cleaned most days and beds made. The pool is alot bigger in person and was clean. The hotel was not as noisy as anticipated either. As much as the reviews said the air conditioning doesn't work it does it just isn't as powerful as expected. And we DID get our deposits back too. Overall had an amazing holiday and would stay here again.
Me and my friends recently booked to stay in your hotel for 3 nights for a short girls holiday in Magaluf. We arrived to what we thought was going to be a standard hotel so our expectations were not high to begin with but it was much worse. We walked up to the hotel to see the Bali beds, I think they were supposed to be white but they had disgusting black splatters all over them, they hadn’t even been made ready for the day. We then walked into the reception area to check in and we were greeted by the tatty, worn “leather” seats, they looked like they had been ripped up by a dog. The reception area had light fixtures hanging out, there was a whiteboard which had inappropriate drawings on it of drugs and male body parts. There where holiday reps lay on the seating area with their feet up on the tables just sat on their phones. We spoke to the RUDE receptionist, he didn’t have a clue, looked like he didn’t want to be there, (can’t blame him). He asked us for a 25 euro deposit each for the room and the hotel money, then gave us a checklist to fill in when we got to our room, this was to write down all the damages in the room. He told us that our room wasn’t ready and it was being cleaned so to wait 30 minutes. We sat by the pool waiting for our room to be ready. The pool was like a pond, it was dirty had some bits of wrappers in it. We went back into the reception after 30 minutes and the receptionist said it would be another 30 minutes and it’s still being cleaned. We all thought “at least we are getting a clean room”. After waiting 1 hour for the room we went in the lift up to our floor, we had a key for the room not a pass. So very old fashioned. Walked in and the smell hit us! Damp and mould all up the wall over where we were supposed to sleep and damages, the entire room was damaged, balcony door broken, the wardrobe had smashes and it was all peeling away round the edges, there where wires hanging out of the light fixtures, the air con didn’t work, the bathroom had a mirror that had all peeled away either side, the door in the bathroom was broke, the bath was dirty, the room had bits all over the floor, photo was stuck out and ripped, the balcony table and chairs where full of brown scum ,the bedding had public hairs all on it, the television was tiny and about 20 years old! After seeing all of this we just went straight back to the reception and demanded to speak to the manager, but he wasn’t there, we asked for our money back and he only gave us for the 2 nights, we had to pay for 1 night even though we didn’t stay there. IS SO DISGUSTING, STAY FAR AWAY! we ended up staying in a gorgeous hotel called the sotavento! highly recommended
For a girls holiday we didn't require anything special about the hotel, just decent sized, clean rooms , a good pool area and friendly staff and other guests would of done fine. this is NOT what we got here. As soon as we arrived we were turned away and told our rooms weren't ready. We then returned two hours later to check in and the receptionist rudely demanded €100 per room deposit (which wasn't mentioned anywhere). Threw a piece of paper at us and told us to "write anything down that's broken in your room" (lol it was a sign of things to come). So we enter our rooms and they are small but manageable for 3 of us in one and 2 in the other. Very old fashioned but clean.. -curtains were broke -light switches broke -one bed broke -bathroom damp and mouldy -plastic chairs on the balcony with bent legs -balcony table wobbly We had next to no interaction with the staff as we got up late, ate out and then went out, but the few times we used the pool bar all 5 of us were rudely spoken to and basically made fun out of. Three members of staff would be stood chatting and one would walk over to serve and you could see the other two sniggering as the bar man was blatantly rude. Finally when we checked out at 7:00am the receptionist didn't speak, barked at us and then stormed up to "check our rooms". Came back down and was obviously very disappointed that he found our rooms in probably a better state than we found them and shoved our €100 deposits back at us and that was it. Never said good bye or thank you or showed any gratefulness for us staying. Absolutely disgusting place and would never ever return- not even value for money at nearly £450 pp for a week. Could of got somewhere a lot nicer for not much more. I hope the staff see this and the rest of the horrible reviews and either justify themselves or apologise. Ps Nicole the tui scene rep was mint she was fab sorting us all out !!!
Came to the hotel for my hen do.. upon arrival at 2.30am my sister was told she had to pay tax on top of the price of the hotel (which she wasn't told about) then we all had to contribute to a 100€ deposit per room which again was not mentioned when booking the hotel.. which left us all 50€ short each. When we arrived back on the first night at half 6 in the morning we asked the security guard from our balcony if we could smoke. And he started taking pictures of us. Some of us were not appropriately dressed. When speaking to the reception to tell them about our very uncomfortable encounter we explained in the uk he could be done for taking pictures of young girls inappropriately dressed to which we were told 'your in magaluf we can do that here'. The security guard was very aggressive and rude with not a word spoken in English at all!! Luckily the receptionist said he would speak to him as this really distressed a member of our group. The room was basic with punch holes in the wardrobe and one of the rooms were not able to open the wardrobe at all due to this. The breakfast was very basic and not very nice. The timing was okay for breakfast 9-11.30. Which in a place like this you won't wanna get up early for breakfasts. Some of the staff were Lovely but the security guard either needs to learn English or be locked up for being allowed to take pictures of girls. We had no warning as to why but was told we were apparently loud. When he doesn't speak English it's a bit difficult for us to understand if he's telling us to quieten down. (Considering the location and name of the hotel). Pool was cold but very lovely in the middle of the day when it's 36 degrees outside. The pool area only gets the sun around 1pm but not many people are up till then anyway. Very close to the strip and beach and plenty of restaurants nearby. Overall an average stay. But when in magaluf you only want somewhere to rest your head which it did the job. Just be weary not to leave valuable in your room and don't listen to a staff member if they come into your room and tell you to hide your euros.
On arrival all four of our rooms were ready we paid the €100 deposit (which was returned at check out no problem) and made our way up. Room is small but clean three single beds and a large balcony. Air con worked fine for us although the room of four's never even after the matinence man had been:(! Pool area was clean and plenty sun beds for us all, staff around pool were friendly and helpful. Location is great uphill from the strip and BCM square, loads of places to eat and plenty supermarkets close by. Not at all what we were expecting from reading the previous reviews! The only down side I would say was that the towels weren't changed for the three nights we stayed but overall a fantastic stay at the lively.
