This was our third holiday in Palma, the first two were in October when the weather was warmer. When we arrived at the Hotel Hispanic there was only one receptionist,Elena, and another gentleman sitting behind her who was busy with his laptop rather than the customers. She said that there were two sittings for dinner and wanted us to decide which one we wanted once chosen this would be our allocated sitting for the rest of our stay. This was not actually the case we found that catering staff were easy going when we switched our time later.By the time all this had been discussed there was a sizeable queque waiting behind us.We were disappointed with our room on the first floor for a number of reasons. We had paid for a bath but found an antiquated shower which would not have been out of place in a museum.Access to the gloomy balcony overlooking the street and sea was through a narrow doorway which we had to walk through sideways. There were noticeable dents in the door frame which made us a bit worried about security.I returned to reception to discuss the lack of a bath. I was told that there was only one room available with a bath and went to look at it.The long passages on the way there had seen better days. When we got to the room we were astonished to find a ‘bath that was about a foot in height and about three feet long.It was more like a small water trough. We decided not to take it.There was no sign of any basic guest information in the room.We were provided with bath gel that was so thick it was impossible to get it out of the bottle. The toilet seat was broken. After dinner we thought we might have drinks in the bar.It was an uninviting empty space with a low ceiling at one end and a very high ceiling at the other end which created a cavernous environment, the lighting too bright. We went somewhere else. At the end of our stay we needed to find out where we could catch the airport bus so I asked Elena at reception. She speaks good English but was unhelpful. We tracked the bus stop down for ourselves the day before we were due to leave.Palma is a fantastic place , blue skies and sea and sand, but if you really want to enjoy your holiday I would strongly advise you not to stay at th Hotel Hispanic.
I am currently staying in this hotel and I must say it ranks up there with the worst I've stayed in. The rooms are tiny, the shower and bathroom, in general, are all tiny. The Wifi doesn't work properly and it took them nearly 24 hours to fix my broken T.V remote. It only gets 2 stars as the breakfast was prett good otherwise it would have been 1 star from me! Avoid this hotel unless your a 20kg midget who likes small rooms and doesn't mind having no wifi!!!
It.s a max 3 stars hotel, rated as 4 only cause the beach is 2 minutes away. Not so friendly staff -especially the reception- old furniture and rooms I.d not recommend it. You can get a better deal if you choose a cheaper hotel and rent a car to visit all those gorgeous beaches in Palma. Rent a car for all you staying! That.s my strong recommendation.
The Hotel is well kept with beautiful food and friendly staff. It is only a short taxi drive from Palma Airport and is close to a large number of bars and shops. It has easy access into Palma as the bus stop is outside the Hotel. A train runs along the front which can take you to close to the Aquarium.
once again efforts have been made to constantly improve and make the hotel a better place to stay and enjoy. last year's roof top terrace still being a highlight. a new elevator, extended luggage storage facilities, stable WIFI and further upgrades to rooms etc. the local delicacies mixed with european fare, both for breakfast and dinner make the choice quite difficult. or the eating capacity too limited. always again!
I spent three nights at the hispania hotel and enjoyed it very much. The hotel is located 30 minutes from the city center (using the bus) and right in front of the beach. At the reception we were well received and the staff were friendly. The room was spacious, consisting of a double bed and a single. Very clean with simple but beautiful decor. In the bathroom, the bath was very small and needed some maintenance and further cleaning. The room had a balcony overlooking the beach. On the first day, I left the card asking to be cleaned, very early but when I returned to the room, around the room was not cleaned at three o'clock. I went out again and by the time I returned the night I had only changed my towels, I was disillusioned. Everything went well in the following days. The breakfast and dinner is five star, we have lots of variety, fruit, various cheeses, fresh produce, salads, meat / fish / pizza .... we love it. The hotel does not have a shuttle to the airport but when I made the reservation it appeared option to ask the prices of the shuttle, in which I got no response. Two weeks I sent the email back to the hotel and remained unanswered. But in the end we really enjoyed our stay.
stayed here as good value for money with half board and location. First impressions. close to airport 20euros and 15mins. Reception at check in pleasant and informative. location is good, thought it would be really noisey as there is a bar opposite and there are lots of "happy" germans about the beach front, but our room did not have problems with noise. The room- seem to have a double bed and a single bed stuck together to make a massive bed no idea why? bathroom no ventilation so got really steamy and damp. Room had fridge which was nice, but no tea making facilities. Food- Breakfast is standard fare, hot and cold eggs and bacon, cereal and toast etc. it is ok. the mountain of pancakes looks good but were cold and soggy. Diner- menu is put on board 24hrs in advance which is nice. Lots of choice but the fish was poor, just frozen filet's in sauce. the roasts were good though, but not the raw pork chop. the salad bar had limp salad leafs with lots of little fly's on it. Desserts were poor, looked good but all tasted the same or just left overs, e.g. the puddings were not even set just mush. Fresh fruit was ok. Did not use pool as looked uninviting and the fitness was rubbish, i only used it to stretch after swimming in the sea. Sky bar is good though but expensive drinks Overall ok, but wont come back,
I have stayed in this hotel twice this year and had an enjoyable stay. Five weeks ago I booked another stay for October 2017 through Booking .com but had to cancel due to unavailable flights. My booking was 100% refundable without payment and i intended to rebook once my flights were confirmed. Booking.com confirmed my cancellation and that it was free to cancel. Hotel Hispania took in excess of 200 euros from my bank account and only refunded half of this. Despite 5 telephone calls via booking.com and a copy of my bank statement which shows their withdrawal ( 3 months before my intended stay) they now say they have no records of the transaction as it is in the past! They have been very cooperative in refunding my money. This is REALLY disappointing. Booking.com are now going to refund me directly and follow up this fraudulent transaction by Hotel Hispania. This has totally made me avoid booking this hotel in the future.
Hotel is clean and food is above average for the playa de Palma. The rooms are nice, the once with beach view are awesome. Don't miss the rooftop terrace and bar. The hotel is not cheap, but it's a god deal if you book early.
Wife and I stopped over for a week, first time in Playa de Palma, one of the few places in Majorca we hadn't visited previously. A number of negative reviews made us wary but we were so glad we went for it. This is an excellent hotel, well managed, clean and friendly. The location was very good, with our sea facing room providing excellent views of the beach across the quiet road and panoramic views towards Palma and across the bay to Palma Nova etc. Room was generous and clean (wife missed a bath though) but lacking in storage space which seems to be the trend these days. We went half board, and thoroughly enjoyed the generous selection at breakfast, and something for everyone at the evening buffet dinner. All staff were friendly and efficient, including the reception check in which took place around 1 a.m. Food had been set aside for us in the diner, but we had to apologise for being too tired to eat!! Smallish quiet pool and terrace area and an excellent rooftop terrace with full bar/snack service, and splendid views over the Bay of Palma. The only downsides as far as we were concerned were outside the control of the hotel, - namely the groups of noisy mainly German men parading the promenade from early morning till nightfall, usually with beer cans in hand. They were more noisy than intimidating. The other minus for us was the lack of interesting walking trails. We are avid walkers but were restricted to either left or right on the promenade upon leaving the hotel. No variation at all. We ventured east and found the small beach at Cala Blava and westwards to Ca'n Pastilla and the airport. The hotel itself is highly recommended, and the staff do not tolerate any nonsense from the few noisy guests. A good few decent bars nearby. We will most certainly re visit Hotel Hispania, and its proximity to the airport is ideal for late arrivals. We moved on to Soller for the second week, which the reception staff found amusing as our two destinations could not have been more different! Partying the first week, and resting on the second.
