HM Balanguera was a great little hotel in Palma. We booked through BA.com & I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon to received a warm, friendly welcome. We were checked in & given our room keys & all the hotel features were pointed out to us. We went to our room but found we had been given a double room when we'd actually booked a twin room. We left our cases & went down to reception to ask if a twin room might be available as this is what we had booked? The receptionist was so apologetic & immediately found us a twin room as requested. This happened to be on the same floor - Floor 3, Room 303. The room was fresh, clean & inviting. It is a modern hotel & the decor reflected this - lots of white stone walls & shelving & the biggest light bulbs I've ever seen!! There was a rainfall shower in the bathroom which was just heavenly & we were surprised we didn't use up all the hot water as it was so nice :-) We did have a slight issue the first time we used the shower in that the water didn't drain away for a long time. My Mum tried to clear it herself (she likes fiddling with things) but it didn't really help. We reported it to reception when we went down for breakfast & by the time we came back to the hotel later that day, it was all fixed & working perfectly. There was no "excuse story" from reception (I've heard all sorts of excuses from some UK hotels because they can't really be bothered) The buffet breakfast was really good & if anyone said "I can't find anything to eat" I would have to say that they must be extremely fussy. We didn't use the hotel restaurant in the day/evening as we were always out & about so can't comment on that. The roof terrace was really nice looking & the pool, although small, looked inviting. However, we went to Palma to experience the city itself (and to do a lot of shopping if I'm really honest) so we didn't use the pool at all. We did see people up there early in the morning who were clearly there to sunbathe & enjoy the peace & quiet & soak up the sunshine. The hotel is just a very short walk to the nearest bus stop. The Route 2 that stops there is a circular route which is great for tourists. Wherever you get off the bus, you get on in exactly the same place & it will take you back to the hotel. It was 1.50 euros for a single journey per person or you could buy a 10 journey ticket for 10 euros. We opted for this & we worked out we would have spent 18 euros on bus tickets if we had paid for individual journeys so it was definitely good value. I have to say I would happily recommend the hotel to friends & family & am already thinking about when we might be able to go again.
Very interesting decor! Kind of hacienda / loft/ industrial. About a 10 minute walk to the centre on a quiet street. Nice pool on roof but very small so get there quick to claim a spot. Rooms quite a good size and free to use safe. Small but functional bathroom and the wash basin is in the room - not in the bathroom. No bath in our room but decent sized shower and not just a trickle 😁. Breakfast was continental but there was some cooked bacon and eggs. Nice good quality selection of meats/ cheeses and fruits / cereals and breads. All self service. No restaurant - but breakfast is served in the reception where there are some low tables and chairs. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We'd stay again.
Enjoyed ourselves immensely at the Balanguera, myself and my wife escaped without the children. The room was striking, with clean modern facilities. The hotel is smarter than the norm, but the staff are relaxed and friendly. It's located on the edge of the city rather than bang in the noise, so evenings are still tranquil on the roof terrace. The weather was hot and sunny with it getting chilly after 10 pm at the end of our stay. We walked probably more than most holidays, this was surprisingly enjoyable as we found some great cafes and churches that we would not have seen otherwise. Even though this was a city break, we returned very happy and relaxed. Pleased with the whole experience.
I organized a stay for 2 groups (June and September 2017) in HM Balanguera. One word to describe: excellent. The hotel is cosy and modern , personnalized and different from other hotel chains. Rooms are quite big (we used twin). Breakfast is excellent. The hotel is 20 minutes walk from the center which easily doable. A huge thank you to the reception chief who was available all the time for different enquiries I could have. Thanks to all the team for their warm welcome and availability.
We stayed here last year and thought this hotel offered tremendous value for a short stop over in Palma. We returned this year and we're not as impressed. The accommodation remains of a high standard, the beds are comfortable and a fairly good buffet breakfast is served. However we found that the prices had increased significantly so that for a hotel 30 minutes from the centre of Palma and without parking nearby it no longer offers exceptional value. Also, and unlike last year, the staff were indifferent and unattentive - both reception and breakfast staff. It is therefore no longer worthy of 5/5 and only earns 3/5.
We stayed for one night on our way back to the airport to spend our last days holiday in Palma with a night out on the town. From the moment we checked in the staff couldn't do enough for us, we were able to check in at 11am rather than 2pm which was great for dropping our bags off & then walking into town. The walk into Palma is about 20 minutes and you can find cafes & restaurants after about 15 mins. The hotel itself is v quirky in a good way, v clean & comfortable beds. We returned to hotel about 11pm, bought a G&T and took it to the roof terrace, v enjoyable. The pool on the roof is v small with about 6 sun loungers & seating for about 20 people. Definitely worth staying & cheaper than most central hotels. Enjoy.
Went away for 3 nights for my best friends bday and stayed here. We got 2 rooms to be more comfortable and staff managed to put us next door to each other. Very nice interiors with wash basins made from solid stone. Nice white theme throughout which felt fresh and summery. Bed was mega comfy. Didn't want to get up most mornings! Breakfast came included in our price and was good. They don't have individual tables to sit at so there were a couple of other couples sitting beside us which isn't really my thing, but there's a respectful atmosphere and the food was good. Shops are close by and the Cathedral not far. Took around 12 minutes to walk to. Great place to stay and staff are very helpful in giving info about Palma.
Great weekend spent here with some girlfriends. Lovely quirky rooms, all individual. Shower was powerful. Bed was comfortable. Rooms were cool. Breakfast was scrumptious . Easy walk down to the marina and old town. 😊
The hotel had a modern and clean appeal. They offered breakfast daily at a cost but well worth it. The rooms were spacious with some visual details. The upstairs pool was cute but small. The views were of the city. Major down fall was the bar was at the lobby only but they were very generous with the amount of alcohol.
I visited in August with my daughter for 4 nights. Overall I thought the hotel was really fabulous. It is very quirky in design - I thought the style resembled a Spanish finca with wooden shutters on the windows and smooth whitewashed plaster walls etc. The rooms are pretty small and the air con was sometimes very slow to cool the room however, to be fair, it was nearly 40 degrees during the day and 30 degrees at night when we visited so perhaps this is unsurprising! The breakfast was really great - a great selection and really good coffee. The staff were really friendly and the hotel is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever visited; there was a really lovely smell throughout most of the time. The hotel pool was great (occasionally a bit dirty by the end of the day but the staff were vigilant in cleaning the pool and pool area so it was always spotless again by morning) although you had to be there really early to get a bed as these are very limited. The cabanas are great if you don't want to sit in direct sunlight. The reception doubles as the bar - might sound weird but it actually works! And at 2.50 euros for a glass of cava you can't complain! In terms of location it is a bit further back from the main attractions of Palma but we didn't mind the 15 minute walk and often just took a taxi to come home - cost was about 6 euros so definitely not expensive. Overall we loved this hotel and will definitely visit again soon.
