Hipotels Marfil Playa

I had a few days holiday to take and having never done a package trip or an all-inclusive before, having always travelled independently, I decided to take the plunge. So, I came to the Marfil Playa for an extended weekend. I shan't go on about the rather chaotic nature of a package trip but will go on about the hotel. I was pretty impressed from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. Checking in was no bother at all, I paid the now rather in vogue eco-tax that seems to be springing up everywhere and made my way to my first floor room. The room was perfectly adequate for my needs. A pair of beds to choose from, a decent bathroom, a balcony overlooking the pool and a TV that picked up more than the usual English news channels. The bed was comfortable and the air-con seemed to react to my controls. The room was cleaned every day by an inconspicuous maid - I never saw her (a rarety). The hotel had a good mix of nationalities with Germans slightly outnumbering Britons. The restaurant seemed to cater for German/local tastes more than British but it was all very nice, although slightly repetitive - I had a yearning for a good curry. The pool area was very nice and spacious with loads of sunbeds for those that like that sort of thing and the drinks were free flowing and surprisingly nice. The beer was good and the red wine perfectly drinkable as well and the hotel didn't stint on getting it out to their AI customers. The waiters did a great job, if they saw your glass was empty they'd be on the spot pretty quickly to see if you wanted a refill. Decent measures too. There was entertainment on 3 of the 4 evenings I was there which folks seemed to enjoy. Beach about 100m away and a selection of shops, bars and restaurants nearby All in all, I'd happily go there again on the same basis despite some really shoddy weather on the middle 2 days (which obviously the hotel can't control), albeit getting there independently. I wished I'd gone for a little longer.

This is our 2nd year at Marfil playa and it didn't disappoint again. To be recognised by staff from our previous stay added extra relaxation to our stay. We love everything about this hotel, no rush for Sun beds, chilled out atmosphere, food and drinks were fab, cleanliness of the hotel, animation team were so friendly and the manager of the hotel was always checking everything was ok. We will definitely be booking this hotel for next year and hope that nothing changes. Only one tiny issue was night time entertainment, some good, some bad but don't let this deter a stay at this hotel. Thanks again for such an enjoyable stay!!

Stayed in this hotel at the beginning of August. There were 5 adults ranging from 19 to 75. We loved our stay at the marfils playa. Rooms were quite spacious and very clean. We had a balcony with great views. The food was buffet style so can be a bit repetitive but we never had a bad meal all the time we were there. Entertainment wasn't up to much but most evenings we went for a walk to the local bars and shops , of which there were plenty. All inclusive drinks were good, none of those stupid plastic cups unless you were taking them to the pool area.always something going on during the day, but the animation team didn't pester you to join in. Recommend the off road island tour in 4 wheel drive buggies. My son and I had a fantastic four hour tour , so don't forget to take your licence. Buggy tours are situated in the row of shops opposite the "dug out " pub. There is also a nice walk up to the castle along a dirt track by where they keep the horses. Take plenty of drinking water for the walk which is about 20-25 minutes. There is a bar and restaurant when you get there and some beautiful views. Had a great time and would definitely recommend this hotel and area.

This was my first visit to this Hotel , although previously I have stayed in the Coma Gran across the road when our children were younger. Right lets talk about this Hotel - Location is very good if like myself you are a beach lover as it is only a five minute walk to the wonderful beach in Sa Coma. I had requested a high floor facing the sea which was delivered - an excellent room- with great views on the fifth floor , the room was well furnished beds of good quality with linen changed almost every other day and sometimes daily. The Restaurant delivered a nice selection for the buffet every night and breakfast was also very good with the usual fare, all in all I think you would find it hard not to find something here every night even for the fussiest of people . On to the Pool area - well set out and whatever time of day you will have no trouble finding a sunbed here with the sun deck and poolside areas. In Summary - I had a very relaxing and pleasant time in this Hotel and I would recommend this Hotel to anybody thinking of going there. I Found all of the Staff from Front of house , Bar staff , Restaurant ,Cleaning to be willing and able to assist at any time - Well done to the Management In Finishing as "Arnie" would say I'll Be Back

This is a fantastic hotel, table service even on all inclusive and cocktails, Ices, mineral water, room cleaned everyday... entertainment and pool activities. They all really do work hard and always pleasant! Met some really nice people, sa coma is relaxed and friendly. I would return to this hotel.. food is great well done guys really enjoyed it.

Myself, hubby and 18 year old son stayed at the Marfil for a short 5 day break. We knew the area of Sa Coma having stayed in other Hipotels in the locality. We arrived at 2am, so were very weary, hungry and thirsty. The night porter checked us in, gave us our AI wristbands, we paid the new 'eco tax' of almost 25 euro and up we went. Our first disappointment, there was no kettle/tea & coffee making facilities in the room - standard in all other hotels we've stayed in. We had intended to make a cuppa before we went to bed. There was a tiny, really tiny fridge (info about facilities at the hotel state you can have a 'mini bar' at an extra charge so I'm assuming that's what this little fridge was for) which was empty. In other properties we have stayed in when we have arrived late at night snacks and drinks have been provided and left in the fridge - no chance of that due to the size of it. Hubby then had to go in search of a drink for us all, he came back with sandwiches, fruit and 3 bottles of water which the night porter had forgotten to give to us. The sandwiches were tasteless but better than nothing and at least we had a drink! It was 3am and we all needed sleep so didn't unpack until morning. In the light of day it became apparent just how small our room was.I was disappointed that we didn't have a bedroom but instead were all squashed together leaving very little floor space. I would say the room was much smaller than the average size of a family room in a UK budget hotel chain. We had the standard two twin beds but then a smaller bed was pushed into a corner, right in front of the patio door which led onto the balcony. My son isn't overly tall but he kept banging his feet on the unit under the TV - he did not have a good night's sleep the whole time we were there. As we were only there a short time we only took one suitcase for the three of us, so I dread to think how crammed we would have been if staying for a full 14 day holiday with three suitcases and their contents - we would have struggled for space - not conducive to a relaxing holiday. Our room was over the main entrance overlooking the street, so no view of the pool, sea or the countryside, just all the other neighbouring hotels, bars and shops. A bar across the street was very loud until midnight, which we could hear even with our doors shut. Food was OK, though not a great selection. I appreciate they have to cater for all guests but I found the selection for an English palate seem to trail behind the amount of variety for other non-English guests. Some food items (eggs, fish, chicken, burgers) were freshly cooked at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pool area is very well laid out and there were always plenty of sunbeds available and the pool area never really seemed crowded. There is also an upper terrace should you want to sunbathe away from the noisiness of the pool. We noticed during our first couple of days there was very little activity/games etc from the animation team. However, a new guy arrived and he seemed to really up the pace a bit, going round trying to engage with guests and get them to join in - so well done to Ruben! We noticed that there was no music around the pool, other guests picked up on this too. A speaker was only brought out for Aqua-gym etc but then put away again. However, on one occasion the speaker was left out and we were all happy listening to the music until a member of staff (shirt & tie - poss duty manager?) came and out and seemed to remonstrate with the lifeguard as to why it was still there, his actions seemed to say take it in. At this point a guest intervened and said we were all quite happy listening to the music- so it stayed - well done her! Very odd though. Evening entertainment as usual consisted of the Mini Disco for the little ones then an act. We enjoyed the acrobat couple, who were very humorous and also a Michael Buble tribute singer who was very good. On another night it was 'Music Box' where you give the animation team a list of your favourite songs and they'll pick some to play! The Marfil Playa is a lovely hotel, very well presented and like other Hipotels we've stayed in, all areas were immaculately clean throughout. However basic amenities such as not being able to make a coffee while you sit on your balcony before breakfast or as you unwind at the end of the day quite spoilt it for me. I am an early riser (even on holiday) unlike my hubby & son, so I usually just sit out with an early morning coffee watching the area come to life - such a simple pleasure yet one I was denied. The thought of having to wait until 8am to go and get a coffee from the restaurant, carry a hot cup of coffee back up in the lift didn't seem an acceptable (or safe) option; hopefully the Marfil will address this shortfall for the benefit of future quests. I doubt if we'd stay at the Marfil again due to the size of the rooms.

Had a lovely 10 days here with extended family was ideal for 20 month old , parents , grandparents and great grandparents . Spotless , friendly . Food choice very good . Entertainment typical of family hotel not the best but not rubbish . Would recommend asking for a pool view room as live music bar opposite quite noisy although live music finishes at midnight .

We have been to this hotel 3 year in a row and never get sick of it,the staff are very friendly and all say hello and are very helpful, rooms are clean ,yes the can be thin YOUR on holiday not home lol, foods good and lots of choice,we seem to met the same people that too have returned and always greet you with a smile and hello again not just the British, thanks to the night manage who brilliant, bar staff can't do enough for you, restaurant the same and the fab reception, and yes the hotel manager does take time to come and speak We have already booked for next year can't wait! ,

right, where to begin. So when we arrived they had no room for us even though it was booked in February! so we had to go in a horrible hotel across the road. The receptionist was very rude and when we got the room they said it is 'a very nice room' however I would say it was average. The bathroom was poor and the shower was rubbish. Also all the plugs (bath, sink and bday) didn't go in properly so the water went out almost immediately. To add to this the air con wasn't very powerful and only went up to about 7. the tv only had a few channels and half didn't work. However the pool, food and beds were great. so like I said, a mixed bag
