very nice Hotel conveniently located, near the train station and in the middle of historic center...steps away from Academia gallery, Duomo and Ponte Vecchio.

The staff was very friendly. The building is a former palace. We were upgraded to a junior suite and brought cookies on our first day. The view from our room was spectacular. The breakfast room was jaw dropping. No complaints except possibly the small elevators with capacity of only three. Would definitely recommend.

This hotel is midway between the train station and the Domo. The roof top bar has the best view in the city.

Hotel was very clean and smelled amazing!! Our biggest complaints are that the bed was hard as a rock, the eggs in the breakfast buffet were always cold or barely warm, and the bathroom didn't have any ventilation such as a fan or window. Staff was very helpful and pleasant and the location was close to duomo!

I have traveled to over forty countries in my lifetime and must have stayed at over 60 different hotels. Never EVER have I been treated so badly in a hotel. I booked and PREPAID this hotel about a month in advance...I arrive on check-in date and am told sorry, we gave your room away...tried to explain to them basics on contractual obligations and they just laughed and said THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. But they were nice enough to book me a hotel which was 20-30 cheaper and without all the amenities that were in Boscolo (mainly rooftop view of florence/duomo)...and of course with no refund. TO MY FELLOW TRAVELERS...STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE

Lovely old building, warm and friendly welcome, steps from all historic sites. Uffizzi, academia, ponte vecio, Santa Croce. Everything a trip to florence should be at my fingertips. Bella!

Astoria was a little pricey once tax and all was included but we enjoyed our stay. The staff was wonderful and the hotel was in a good location with solid windows to keep out the bustling streets of Firenze. The big room, bed and bathroom were a huge pluses because traveling in Europe can be tight. We loved the roof terrace for a romantic glass of wine and would definitely come back but budget better for the hotel.

The location and cleanliness were great. The one inconvenience was that wireless internet was only available in one room of the lounge area.

This is a really old, beautiul hotel ... a true Italian hotel. Rooms are beautiful .. we had a great view. The onlly problem was is that they overbook here. They were kind enough to send us to another lessor hotel for one night and they came and got our things and moved them to the Astoria for the next two nights stay. I had paid for my room in advance and did not appreciate the fact that they overbooked and had no room for us. I would think twice next time due to the inconvience.

surly barman, kept increasing price of a bucket of ice. poor wifi reception. no info when checking in to room about amenities. found out last night we had frig hidden in cabinet.

Lets start with the location that is perfect for sightseeing, right in the center of the city. The staff was friendly and helpful. Then the bathroom of our initial room flooded due to a plumbing room. The reassigned room was quiet but tiny, less than 100 sft. The walls paint had come off, everywhere broken off wall trimmings and paint. The room looked very dated, definitely not like a 4-star room. Wifi works only in the lobby and the connection is wonky. Overall the hotel is at best a 3-star hotel - with some issues. Other travelers have confirmed many of them. This is a pity, because the old-world interior design and location could offer so much more.

The hotel staff were very nice and competent. My room was sizable but had a sewer smell for all three nights and the air conditioning didn't work. My friend's had a room down the hall without the smell and with an air conditioner that functioned well enough. Another negative was that the WifI was only in a very small radius of the lobby, maybe 10 feet max from the lobby desktop.

Not good. First room: Smelled like sewer or toilet at times Phone didn't work Burnt Light Bulb 2nd room: Air Conditioning didn't work 3rd Room: Smelled of cigarettes Light bulbs stayed partially lit when power was off !!! 4th Room: Shower had a poor caulk repair and flooded the bathroom One entire floor had electrical fixtures hanging by their wires !! 5th Room was top floor, awesome view, extra space. no problems Elevators are super slow Initially told us our booking did not offer free breakfast, when every other Italy hotel we stayed at did. We stayed here only 4 days, hotel staff was friendly, but too many problems for spending $2,800 on airline tickets to deal with this !!

This hotel is advertised as a 4 star hotel w/ cache. It is not. The hotel is in desparate need of renovation. The pictures online were clearly taken some time ago. I checked out of the hotel and moved to a nicer one. I would also caution against booking your hotel with this site. I have had a few problems with hotel bookings and minimal customer service to rectify issues. There are other sites that allow you much easier cancellation policies. For me this is important after hotels not meeting their online expectations.

This was a nice hotel with some character and a wonderful staff. Our room was not large but adequate. The hotel staff was very helpful with any request and the breakfast was good. We had a very nice time and got lots of exercise.

This was both the lowest rate that we paid during our Italian vacation as well as the highest quality hotel. Located just down the street from the Medici Chapel, it was easy to get to from the SMN train station. We had easy access to the Duomo and all the main sites in Florence. The rooms were quite spacious and quite clean. If you stay on floor 4 or above you will have a very nice view of the city from your window. Make sure and get up to the 6th floor balcony for excellent views. The staff was excellent and dealt with our minimal Italian skills.

The hotel was hard to find (as is common in this area), but the location was great. It is in the heart of the city. Everything is in short walking distance of the hotel. It's a bit dated, but the view from the roof top restauant is spectacular and almost worth the stay by itself. The rooms are small in comparison to American Hotels, but it was adequate. We were lucky to have suites at all of our other hotels in Italy, so this one did seem small, but by european standards it is normal in size.

Just an overnight stay but enough time to experience the quality & magical ambiance that this majestic hotel exudes. The service and help from the front desk was equally impressive. From its historical aspect this hotel was what you imagined the great hotels in history would be like. From it's solid feel, ornate ceilings & walls and great noise suppression in the rooms, to it's perfect location within the old part of Florence and quite good value, this hotel was a total joy to stay in. The only disappointing note is learning that the hotel is due for a major modernisation/refurbishment which might mean the loss of its wonderful historic feel.

Excellent service, large rooms, free wifi in lobby, great included breakfast, centrally located.

Great hotel, excellent staff, great breakfast served in an amazing room. Rooms were a bit small but very comfortable.

Dear El, thank you very much for your lovely comment. We are very glad that you loved your stay here and appreciated our hotel, the wonderful breakfast room and the amazing view from your room , the unforgettable Duomo Cupola right in front. A little note as regards lifts : our hotel is an old palace belonging to the end of the xvi century and in under the care of Fine Arts, we are not allowed to make great changes to the building, but we hope that this aspect has not overshadowed the beauty and the charm of history everybody can experience as soon as they enter our palace. We wait to welcoming you back soon, best regards

Dear guest, thank you very much for your positive feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the fantastic view from the roof top terrace and the strategic position of our palace. We are very surprised that you had this impression about the hotel morning clerk, we can assure you that customer care is the main aim of the entire staff, each one in his own and personal way. Maybe you're referring to the student who makes the stage here, who is learning the basics at work in the hotel and also how to interact with customers and this process is just at the beginning. We wait to welcoming you again very soon, best regards
