Just returned from my third visit to this wonderful hotel,a place where you can relax and forget about the normal routine of life. The staff are always helpful and the food excellent. In a convenient location with shops on the doorstep, however once you walk through the door you wouldn't know that it was on a busy street. Will definitely return and I can't wait.
Just checked in - room wasn't ready when we arrived - which is fine. Lovely glass of cold cava on arrival though. Came to check into room - having paid extra. Currently looking over the main road into the town with a fast food restaurant opposite- to be fair the restaurant has already emptied the bins whilst sat here. Hubby in reception trying to sort out a room change as I am too angry. Oh back now and it's a no fuming
could not find any fault in our stay the breakfast is amazing staff wonderful nothing a problem very clean location perfect when our transport to the airport did not arrive on time stated the staff without being asked contacted our travel company and told us the transport would arrive soon
From the moment we got out of the taxi, after a 20 minute drive from Palma airport, you are helped and made extremely welcome. You do wonder if it can last, but I can assure you that it did for the whole 10 days of our stay. After a little bit of a problem with our room, all resolved to our full satisfaction and without fuss, we settled in to one of the most enjoyable holidays we have ever had. The views from the room were amazing as they were from all around the grounds. We particularly enjoyed the pool, nice and warm with extremely helpful staff and just enough sunbeds to cope with everyone. But no inflatables allowed and it's enforced, brilliant. For my wife and I, both OAPS with arthritis, there was plenty of opportunity to walk along both a beautiful prom by the beach & sea, but also to go out of the front doors to a shopping street with all types of shops and cafes. Another highlight for us was the quality and range of food for all times of the day. Although the Dinner is a Buffett Service there was never any queuing and the quality and variety were of a very high standard, 4 fresh fish and 4 fresh meat dishes, all cooked specifically to your requirements with an ample selection of starters and desserts. Do try the A La Carte restaurant, The Veleria. Incredible views and exceptional cooking. It would be churlish to mention any very minor concerns and we will definitely be returning in the future. It was interesting to hear from other residents how many had returned on multiple occasions. It's not cheap, but good things very rarely are, and we felt it was very good value for money. Exceptional service is always a pleasure.
Have been to this hotel for many years and usually it is good but this year the room smelt dreadfully of sewage reported it many times to reception all they did was squirt some perfume into the fan which didn't sort the problem. The whole holiday was ruined the manager finally came and smelt it for himself and said sorry and made a small reduction to the final bill. Not enough for a holiday ruined.Be very aware when visiting this so called five star hotel.
Having stayed in some very nice Hotels just outside Palmanova in the past we thought we would give the Villamil a try as beach , restaurants and shops are literally on the door step. The staff were exceptionally good, friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. They are very organised and from start to finish made the stay very enjoyable. We had a nice 2nd floor sea view room with balcony which the cleaner kept immaculate. Hotel grounds and gardens very well kept. Free bottles of mineral water provided in the room every day which was a nice touch and a chocolate put on your bed late pm when the cleaner came back to pull down the bed sheets. Proper pampering!! The breakfast buffet is truly amazing, the choice incredible. Freshly cooked eggs prepared as you like and everything fresh. The staff covering breakfast do a great job. With a terrace of tables over looking the sea its a lovely setting for breakfast. We only had dinner once at the hotel, again a buffet, the food was superb with lots of choice. We enjoy trying different restaurants and had we stayed longer would have used the Hotel restaurant again. Now for a few things which are out of the hotels control but a bit annoying, if you want a sun bed by the pool you need to be an early bird, people putting towels on beds at 6.30 a.m ! The sun beds over looking the beach also tend to get snapped up early. The drinks and food from the pool bars are expensive, so we tended to buy from outside the hotel. The Hotel really needs to consider a non smoking area around the sun bed areas as you don't know who you will be next to and on more than one occasion we had chain smokers near us which wasn't pleasant. One day we were up late and ended up missing out on the hotel sun beds so went onto the beach and hired one of the sun shades and two beds ( non reclining, £13,50 euros) near the end of the beach going towards MAR Y PINS HOTEL. This was not a pleasant experience , non stop smoking all around us , we felt like we were in permanent smog! and the sand is littered with dog ends ! Although one morning they did have a tractor with a sieve on the back going up and down the beach. The beach gets very busy. We hired a car for 5 days, but the hotel only has parking which you have to pay for and limited parking elsewhere makes car hire that bit more expensive. Parking 54 euros. New Hotel tax, 4 euros a day. Overall one of the best hotels that we have stayed in and we would definitely stay there again.
When searching for holidays the brochures for UK travel agents rarely mention Paguera. Last year we were on a bus from Andratx to Santa Ponsa when we were stuck in traffic right outside the Villamil - it looked good. We found a holiday on line with Thomson. So we found ourselves in the Hotel Villamil on the 6th June. This is an excellent hotel that I would recommend without reservation. After a taxi transfer we found ourselves in reservation where they were expecting us, with the papers all ready on the reception desk - and a lad waiting to take us to our room. Did the taxi driver let them know when we were arriving? Whatever , terrific personal touch to start with. The room was good enough and comfortable with a large TV, safe, also a spiral staircase outside going up to a private roof space with a couple of chairs, a table and an umbrella. A bit of a warning, it seems that Thomson use the cheapest rooms and as the hotel was full there was no chance to upgrade. There is free wifi, they will deliver a newspaper of your choice delivered to your room daily and there is a free boat trip each week. This boat trip is excellent. The crew are great and they explain the coast as you sail round, they also entertain with singing. There is free food from the hotel and drinks can be bought on board at reasonable prices - cava is free! The hotel is kept in immaculate condition. All the staff are excellent. The breakfast meal is very varied and excellent. The bar is quite pricey, not much change from 10 euros for a G & T - though it is an excellent drink. The swimming pool area gets used all day and it can be difficult to get a sunbed of your choice, but we never failed when we wanted one. The beach is only a few steps from the back gate. There is evening entertainment though we went out every evening. Public transport is close by and frequent going to Andratx in one direction and Santa Ponsa and on to Palma in the other direction. What more to say. An excellent Hotel, with top class staff.
We booked through Jet2 - a premium room with sv and after being efficiently received and welcomed were escorted to our room. Stunning sea view from the balcony, 2 floors up, overlooking garden area, away from public areas. (very little evening noise from these in any case). Facilities in room inc free wifi, large walk-in shower/bathroom area, coffee and tea makers and complementary bottle of water each day. An air conditioned oasis at the end of the days which were very hot. Staff around the hotel very welcoming and helpful. We had bb with excellent breakfast buffet inc freshly prepared options and tried both evening buffet and the a la carte restaurant. Not keen on buffets in general for a night out and although what was on offer was excellent I still prefer to relax and be served. Why the a la carte was not full each night I do not know. Stunning location, excellent service, well prepared dishes and nice additional touches between courses which would have been added to the bill elsewhere. Could be advertised a bit better. The many comments about the pool hold true. You have to go with the flow and claim loungers etc as early as practical. While attendants did their best a lack of tables, parasols and mattresses made the situation worse. Some urgent investment/rethink needed. So perhaps not quite 5 star but we loved our stay here.
I loved our stay at the Hesperia Villamil. We enjoyed a very nice beachfront room with a small but adequate terrace. I think mobility could be an issue for some because the beachfront rooms were down a set of stairs, no lift. However if that is not an issue by all means go for the beachfront rooms! All in all, the hotel is excellent, as it offers peaceful, beautifully landscaped , sprawling grounds, three bars and terraces, and three restaurants, all open at different times during the day. The pool is really lovely and enormous, overlooking the beach. There is also an extremely nice indoor spa with a pool and hot tubs. The breakfast buffet is huge and delicious; it covers the span of a couple of dining rooms, and offers almost every choice for breakfast or a light lunch imaginable, the options are too numerous to list here. The outdoor covered dining terrace was a wonderful place to start the day . We didn't try their dinner buffet but judging by the breakfast selections it is probably similar in scope and variety. You can't beat the hotel's location, right on the beach and the main commercial boulevard. The town of Paguera is small and easy to navigate by foot; it is safe and clean and the beach is beautiful. The hotel offers live evening music in their cocktail lounge as well as a free weekly sunset cruise. I recommend the snorkeling along the rocks, and consider booking one of the longer half day boat tours that include cove swimming, lunch stops and visits to different ports. A great stay in Paguera at a very comfortable and gracious resort hotel.
I am currently writing this on the last day of our stay here, the only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because I think we were given the smallest room in the hotel with no balcony but to be fair we got a roof terrace but as it was reached by a spiral staircase and I am not as agile as I once was gave it a miss. Anyway apart from that I have to say this is a lovely place to stay, its central location is good, staff are lovely and helpful, rooms kept immaculately clean and supplied with fresh linen, we we B and B and the breakfasts were so good, lots of choice for everyone. The hotel laid on a free boat trip which we thoroughly enjoyed, free wifi and safe and newspaper delivered to the room every day. Beds are comfy and no noise at night. We would come back again but not to this room, would make sure we got a bigger one, overall a very nice stay.
