Firstly, can I comment on the previous review that says it is a fair walk to the beach. It is only a 1 minute walk to the lovely shops and restaurants, a further 3 minutes walk to the seafront through this nice location. The road to the shops etc has pedestrian crossings on either side. There is no problem getting across as 'Every' car slows down and stops for you. This is a lovely hotel. Has beautiful grounds and swimming pools. All the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. It is the perfect place to switch off and has a very relaxed laid back feel about it. I was here with my wife and 12 year old daughter and it is ideal for both families and couples. There is no problem in getting a sun lounger at any time of the day. We were breakfast only which was nice , we didn't eat here in the evening but did have lunch at the poolside bar several days and it was very good. There were mixed nationalities and this helped with the nice atmosphere as there was no lager louts etc . The Spa is excellent and a great place to relax and chill out for the last hour of the day . We travel a lot all over the world and would definatelty recommend this to anyone. And I nearly forgot, the roof top bar has some lovely views.
A Large Hotel with plenty to do. We went for 10 days in mid October and was very pleased. Nice clean room, fantastic buffet breakfast with loads of choice, Great Indoor and Outdoor pools with nice grassy areas and pool bar. Use of the brilliant Gym and spa. Nice rooftop bar as well. Friendly staff throughout the hotel. Entertainment and sports to join in with during the day. The holiday was made all the better with decent weather in mid October. Plus i was 6 times champion of the Dardos!
Big hotel. good breakfast. mostly German speaking guests. many pools, very good facilities. bit noisy rooms. good airconditioner in rooms good spa and sauna fabulous view from room to the see beach in 6-7 min walk via Can Picafort center many restaurants are very close It was a very good stay, I recommend this place.
We stayed with a couple of family in May this year and came back again with friends in oct this year too. A very big thank you to Guillem Mestre for looking after us. It was lovely meeting you. We were amazed you knew who we were. Our family and friends also now share our love for your hotel and the island of Majorca. As always a fab visit, friendly staff, spotless clean hotel and great food. Cant ask for more. Thank you for making us so welcome again. Hipe to be back again next year
Hotel is lovely, clean, tidy and staff very helpful. There were three of us in our party (2 adults + 13 year old) and I found the room on the small side - two single beds pushed together to form a double and then a separate single about a foot away! Nice balcony with good views. Position of the beds meant the light switches, that would have been either side of the double bed, were now at pillow height and were often knocked during the night which meant the room being illuminated! Funny the first time but the novelty wore off. Spoke to reception who said all the rooms were the same size but they could offer a larger suite at a cost of €240 for the week. Not worth it for the week we were there. Entertainment was very good, singers, acrobats etc - probably best we’ve seen in a hotel. Bar staff very good. You can charge things to your room and pay at the end, hotel didn’t ask for a credit card, just pay at the end. Given that it is October the hotel was surprisingly quiet, clearly a favourite hotel with people from Germany. Loads of sun beds available every day, didn’t see one bed reserved in the week we were there. The swimming pools were freezing but didn’t stop us braving it! The spa was amazing although they need to seriously enforce the swimming costume rules. It would appear you don’t have to wear a costume in the sauna but naturally have to wear one everywhere else. Clearly some men didn’t read the signs and it was most off putting as they wondered about naked - not good! If you’ve got children under 16 they aren’t allowed in - the spa isn’t staffed between 1300 and 1530 so this would be an ideal time to allow children time to use the pool etc. Perhaps management could consider a relax in the rules. Food - genuinely good however as it was clearly nearing the end of the season there was an obvious reduction in what was available. Fresh orange juice one day and then not the next. Choices were good however on one night chicken nuggets and burgers tipped me over the edge, not what I was expecting and really niggled me. On occasions there didn’t appear to be a great deal of thought to the meals. On a whole the food was good but was let down on one or two occasions. We found the hotel very reasonable for drinks and food compared to bars and cafes on the beach which were far more expensive. It was clear that the nearer the beach you go, the more expensive it gets. There is a great hotel Bistro serving sandwiches, pizzas etc. There is an amazing supermarket about half a mile from the hotel, out the hotel and turn left.....far cheaper for water than the ‘Spa’ shops that are every 10 metres! In hotel entertainment was good, pool games and staff that were keen to get people involved. WiFi was good and strong signal in the rooms and round the pool. Would definitely stay at the hotel again.
We spent a week here this October and were delighted with the quality of the hotel. We were in room 208 and it was very quiet at night. The whole place was really clean, not only our room, but the other public places as well. The mattresses were a bit on the hard side for us but that was the only complaint. The quality of the food was superb and the choice was fantastic. They catered for gluten free, vegans and others with dietary requirements. The hotel stands in spacious grounds with lots of activities like volleyball, tennis, mini golf etc. The pools were clean and there were hundreds of sun loungers available. The evening entertainment wasn't great and there were far more Germans than English. The hotel staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were given a fruit juice when we arrived and because we were being picked up at 7am to go to the airport, we were invited to use the restaurant to get our own breakfast. This was great and meant we left on a full stomach! Ca'n Picafort was a little too commercialised for our liking but we went by bus, about an hour, to Port Pollensa and it was very beautiful with a lovely beach and swimming in crystal clear waters. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I just wish it was in Pollensa instead!
Booked last minute through Tui holidays as they offered flights from Bournemouth airport which was important to us! An early start but flight was on time , arrived at hotel hoping our room was ready, luckily it was! Reception staff very friendly and we quickly settled in to our room, then went to explore the extensive grounds, which were immaculately kept. Particularly enjoyed using spa facilities! We ate on outer terrace of restaurant for breakfast & dinner the entire week as the weather was so lovely!Food good but could sometimes have been hotter! Really enjoyed tourist day with champagne breakfast & a guitarist playing on the terrace, then buffet lunch by the pool while 'Elvis' entertained us! Gala dinner then fireworks & champagne to round off a great day! Evening entertainment better some nights than others, particularly enjoyed violinist who played in rooftop bar one evening! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would love to stay here again!
We have just come to the end of two weeks at the gran vista, where we had a twin room overlooking the pool. The hotel is large, modern and clean whilst being placed in a central location for access to the town and the beach. The rooms were well sized compared to our previous experiences on the island. The pools and spa areas are sizable and luxurious, with no issues with over crowding or finding a sun bed. Most mornings we got up after 9 and still found somewhere close to the poolside to sit. Food is average for a four star half board offering and drinks are reasonably priced. The evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss, but the roof top bar is a nice addition for a chilled out alternative. The staff are freindly, approachable and hard working, a credit to the hotel with the management team very visible. A few minor negatives; i.) the food was somewhat repetitive in the second week, whilst to be expected on a two week holiday, the variation week on week just wasnt there. ii) the general cleanliness whilst very high in the main areas, was lacking on the periphery areas which were in need of the same level of attention, corridoors, stair wells, pool side etc. Iii,) the food serving area is disproportionately small compared to the seating capacity of the restaurant, this gave a congested feel at dining times, which I can only assume must be somewhat chaotic in the peak season. Iv,) the maître'd let the side down a bit with his constant playing on his phone when engaging guests and staff. It made for an awful first impression with me, when he dialed a number and made a call whilst I was talking to him. It may just be a difference in cultures but I found it exceptionally rude. All in all a really good stay and we would certainly return to the Gran Vista, for us it was worth the small premium over the other resorts in the area.
On arrival offered a cool drink of orange before registration , the reception staff were so friendly. We stayed in room 123 which had a great view over looking the main pool , the room was immaculate , towels & bedding changed regular as mentioned prior in reviews disappointing no tea making facilities , our cleaner Antonia was lovely made a swan with a towel on our bed with chocolates personal touch it was lush thank-you Antonia. Dinning room : loved the situation were the food area was separate from the sitting area staff so friendly nothing was a bother . The bistro bar was fab as we're the staff . The entertainment area was fantastic , my husband went to the bar to purchase 2 small beer he was given 2 miniature glasses what a laugh thank-you sub director . The animation team fab best ever , Hanna we loved you . Loved loved the roof top bar entertainment on certain nights was great . We were invited to a welcome & goodbye evening free sangria with the director & sub director both were informally dressed they were smart casual mingled with the guest made our stay at the Gran vista fab . The day before we left the hotel at the bistro bar free sangria again introduced to all heads of departments then had a group photo taken . The morning we left we were offered a free cheese roll & banana . Would highly recommend this hotel second to none . Thank-you so much for a fantastic holiday see you next yr .
Just returned from a week long stay at the Gran Vista with my wife and 11 month old. Overall we would rate 3.5 out of 5 and in line with most of the reviews you'll read the hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly. We were quite disappointed with the size of the twin room because the pictures advertised by Thomson made them seem a lot bigger and with the addition of a cot there wasn't much room in there at all. I would recommend booking a suite or an apartment if you are travelling with children otherwise you will be disappointed. Our room overlooked a few trees and a road which wasn't nice and it was quite a walk from the main reception area to our room but luckily you can put yourself on a waiting list to move rooms once a better one becomes available which we did and after 2 days moved to a higher floor overlooking the pool and the mountains. Annoyingly the walls are quite thin and you can hear people above and next to you which was frustrating, especially when the cleaners start work at 06:00 and move furniture around. The bed set up in the room was 2 single beds side by side and don't think there are options to have a double. Also as the floors are tiled if anyone above you has heels on then it's very frustrating. The area around the hotel was nice in terms of shops and restaurants but many were German as it is very popular with German tourists and you can see the influence in the hotels breakfast and dinner buffet too. The food was average with desert options being the highlight each day and there were lots of options of where to sit also. The rooftop bar was nice and probably the highlight of the hotel for us. Overall we enjoyed our stay but we wouldn't return. If you have children do not book a twin room as they are much smaller than the pictures suggest.
