Regulars in Mallorca, we were looking for somewhere out of the ordinary to celebrate a special birthday. Gran Melia didn't disappoint. We had a warm welcome and were impressed by the size and quality of the furnishings in the room. The double shower was a nice touch as was the excellent quality of the terrace furniture which complemented the stunning bay views. Staff signal their single mindedness to please with an 'across the heart' gesture which puzzled us at first, but is genuinely meant. Buffet breakfasts were superb with an excellent egg chef for whom no combination was too much trouble. Evening meals were a la carte on most nights of our half board package but the buffet (on Monday) is not to be missed. It was a complete treat with ample high quality fish and vegetarian components and a superb barbecue of fresh, quality meats. Evening entertainment could be enjoyed from the many secluded outdoor lounges, or ignored if you preferred in other areas! The sun terraces and pool areas were spotless and the concierge service for the sun beds better than any we have experienced before. As many towels as you need whenever you need them as well as help on hand to move beds and umbrellas. And no endless rows of beach towels with nobody occupying beds, the area was professionally, quietly, but well policed. We opted for the Red Level romantic dinner in the hotel's private cove on one evening which was an absolute highlight. The tasting menu was thoughtfully designed, beautifully prepared and faultlessly served by Victor. The cove was the most perfect setting for a very memorable meal and we'd highly recommend the whole experience.
Melia have just got this right - well done. The hotel was refurbished about 2 years ago to a very high standard, which is being maintained, and now has an adult only policy. The rooms are superb, with what must be one of the best panoramic views over Illyetes bay. Superb location and only some 20 minutes taxi to Palma. 2 pools, a spa, its own little cove, and beautifully kept grounds, this is spacious. The high standards here are self evident. From the housekeeping, to the bar service, around the pool, to the Bardot restaurant manager. Everyone made us feel special and we could not find fault, not that we were looking for it. Will definitely return before this summer is out for more of the same please.
We are regular visitors to Majorca, normally making two trips a year for a short break. We are really familiar with the area, have stayed in quite a few hotels and this month went back to our 'normal' hotel. Unfortunately, during this stay we really felt the hotel was tired, with lacklustre service. We wanted to go to a beach or pool restaurant one day for lunch, and I literally googled and came across the Bardot restaurant at the Melia. It looked lovely, it was nearby so we booked a table and went along. From the minute we stepped over the threshold of the hotel, we had a real sense of entering a different world. We went down to the restaurant and had a lovely lunch overlooking the pool. The peaceful gardens and terraces were so calming and tranquil that halfway through lunch my husband said to me "why aren't we staying here?" Before we knew it, we booked a room, went back to our hotel, packed and checked out the following morning. We checked in to a deluxe room, which was kitted out beautifully. Modern and tasteful, with a fabulous bathroom, a balcony you can sit out on and a wonderful seaview. The service was second to none, waiting staff, reception, guest services, housekeeping, the pool boys and girls all gave us service with a smile. It is absolutely clear high standards are expected, and the staff are trained to keep to them, as it is continual throughout the hotel. Another added attraction is that it is adults only, not that we don't like children, just sometimes you want to unwind and have some quiet time, so if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you. We had four nights, and were so glad we moved as it meant by the end of our stay we really felt rested. I can't recommend the Melia de Mar highly enough, we have booked to go back in September and hope it will remain our hotel of choice for many years to come.
Such a gorgeous location and grounds. The hotel was impeccably cared for and hotel staff were top notch. One of the most beautiful hotels in the area. We ended up staying here after being in Palma and wish we stayed here the entire time. The pool had an area down to a private beach was was the best part of the grounds. The spa was incredible and highly recommended.
I am currently staying at Gran Melia De Mar, everything is perfect, great staff, stunning hotel, well run. The rooms are a decent size and comfortable. The views from the hotel are stunning. I will definitely come back. An amazing place to visit.
We were so pleased with the service and accommodations at the Level at the Gran Melia de Mar. We wanted to unwind for a few days. Our room had 5* amenities. This adults only resort was quiet when we were there. We enjoyed the infinity lap pool. The beach is in a small cove. The Bali beds are for rent. They are comfy and worthwhile if you want shade. The buffet breakfast is extensive. Perseo is the main dinner restaurant - food was ok, service was excellent. Arrels, the restaurant with the tasting menu, was outstanding. There are other restaurants, such as Amaro, but we didn't try them. Outside of the resort there's a bus (#3) that runs every 10 minutes and it goes to Palma de Mallorca. There are a few neighbourhood restaurants and shops.
Thank you for five wonderful days at DeMar. RedLevel is absolutly worth it! Amiable and plesant staff, everywhere! Lovelly breakfast and a good selection of lunch menues. One suggestion: water and soft drinks should be free for RedLevel guests - everywhere and not only in the lounge :-) We will absolutly come back!
We chose this hotel to enjoy a relaxing break for a few days. It was an excellent choice. We opted for the red level service and we were extremely well looked after from the moment we arrived till our departure. Staff were always extremely kind and helpful. Our room was spacious, well appointed with a wonderful view. Lovely grounds, restaurants and bars overlooking the sea. We'll be back soon.
Stayed here for four nights at the end of May just before peak season started. Great room service and service throughout the hotel. Restaurants were all good and this is resort. Expect it to come with resort prices for everything, including €5 waters. Check out the SPAR one block away for cheaper snacks! This is right on the med and includes two ladders to climb down and take a dip. Not much of a beach if you're looking for sand. This was before early season and there weren't many chairs open by the pool, so I'd make sure to be up early. We went with the premium room seaview, which was worth it. Second to top floor with little noise or interruption from the restaurants below. The lower floors must have been a bit rough with some of the restaurant noise. Would come back here in a heartbeat, an incredibly relaxing trip.
Having never been to Majorca before I didn't know what to expect.... the old city in palma is stunning but our adult only hotel was amazing.. leaving our bow grown up kids back in the UK. .. The rooms are all sea view though we were originally given one overlooking the car park ... we moved to a central sea/pool view.. it was no hassle. The rooms are spacious and the double bed huge, they're very clean and have a nespresso coffee machine in the room, bathroom and toilet separate which was great and all clarins shower gel/shampoo etc. but it's the views that are amazing whether from your balcony or the pool area or the garden area and there's a little man made beach with a small lagoon area all are peaceful, there are two pools both lovely. Lots of cabanas too but we didn't book them as didn't really know who to speak to. Buffet breakfast was huge, lots of choice, great range of fresh fruit, didn't like the pancakes tho they were left to dry out and stick to the pan.. service around the pool was patchy but beds will be added if necessary so no worrying about laying towels out early. The staff at this hotel are always smiling and want to help. The only negatives were that the air con only went to 19.5degs which was still a bit warm but the whole hotel is the same temperature and the really annoying thing is that taxis are available via one company only who have a cartel in the iletis area so after 6pm you can have upto an hour wait for one but they do warn you about this. Iletis is 15 mins from palma and 10 mins from Puerto portals which is like a small Puerto banus so you do need a car to get there tho you can take a 15 min walk into cala major. we will definately go back to this hotel.
