Quick review: We had a very enjoyable holiday with our toddler Long review: We arrived after a 2 hour 15 minute airport transfer. There was only one bus company running all transfers from airport whoever you used to book (travel republic, hoppa etc) It was supposed to be an hour and a half I think. FYI. Nothing to do with hotel anyway. We had a friendly greeting and my wife asked for a low number room after reading reviews on here. We got something in the 90's. It was a good and close location. Some of the rooms are quite far away as other reviews say. It's a large area. There is a mini bus constantly going around but not worth the hassle with a buggy unless you are tired. Some of the far rooms are also quite small, ours was good. It was simple with fairly old furniture and no air con. The shower was powerful and always hot and the room was clean. Certainly low standard but did the job for us no problem. No kettle or tea or coffee facilities though, probably a first. No hair drier. We took our own travel cot. All staff were friendly, we went the first week after school holidays and the place was full of people. Many with under 5's. This was good for entertainment for the kids but meant the restaurant was very busy and we struggled to find a high chair and table at times. Never too long though. As with any buffet, all you can eat self service hotel place the food was sometimes not very hot but they did try really hard and nothing ever ran out. The coffee machines are good. The juices are not. Lots of fresh fruit every mealtime. Always some meat being cooked fresh. Plentiful salad bar. It got a little repetitive but that's hardly surprising. There is a crazy golf course which is quite tired and tatty but good for our toddler and free. There are table tennis tables too. All the facilities are in one block behind reception and next to the beach so if you have a room far away you have to come down to the front for everything. The bars were great - slush puppy mojitos. All day every day. I was very happy. No qiubbles about how many drinks you order at a time. Bar staff quick fun and efficient. The pool bar was only open 12-5 i think. It was a shame it shut so early. Handy while open. The beach bar was very useful to take inclusive drinks onto the beach as it's right next to it. Also a snack bar there with pizzas, burgers and salad bar for quick grub which was useful. A nice terrace seating area above with a great view down onto the beach too. The beach and sea are nice but you have to pay £££ for everything. It was as cheap to buy beach mats and a parasol as it was to rent beds for one day! It was quite a steep drop into the sea so now shallow area for young children to play but they had space on the beach. All staff were friendly and helpful and the entertainment each night was fun. The best bit was just letting all the kids play together on stage before the entertainment began. If you want to get into town you had to walk over the small rocky divide that separates this hotel bay from the next then climb some steps. Not possible with a buggy at all so a long walk around the back. There was a land train but it was a little pricey, didn't come as far as the tropicana very often as this is furthest away and it finished it's season during our stay. Not a big problem being all inclusive and we weren't very impressed with the town anyway. The swimming pool isn't heated and was very cold! Nice to lounge around though. Overall there was nothing outstanding or terrible at this hotel and we had an excellent 10 day holiday with no issues. Wouldn't go back as there are so many other similar destinations to explore but definitely worthwhile if you haven't been before. During the day there was a childrens playroom open next to the beach bar and under the restaurant. It was a fairly large area with quite a lot of toys which provided a good stop off and change of entertainment for our toddler. Tips: Get a room close to the beach/buildings etc.

We spent a wonderful week in Club Hotel Tropicana. This resort is perfect choice for family with children. You can relax on the nice beach and if the weather is not so good there is nice playground in the garden for children or baby club with program. Rooms are clean and spaceous. All inclusive buffet was rich and tasteful. We will definitely come again.

We enjoyed a seven day holiday here in September. We arrived later than expected (about 3.00 am) due to a delayed flight exhausted and just wanting our bed. Only 1 guy on the desk who was a bit frazzled to say the least. He informed us that it would be another 15 minuets before he was able to take us to our room, however we could go to the restaurant for something to eat or drink. We arrived back to reception to find he was still busy although he did drop everything to look after us as he saw we were getting annoyed. We were taken to our room by a minibus. The complex is like a small village and although we requested a room near the reception due to walking difficulties we were given a room up a small incline. Due to the layout of the place you could find yourself in a room a good distance from the amenities i.e the reception, restaurant, swimming pool and pool bar also the beach. The food was good and varied and if you’re a fish lover you will be a happy camper. The dining area is very busy and sometimes hard to find a seat although the staff work hard to clear tables as quickly as possible. There is a separate bar where you can eat lunch if you want a change from the hustle and bustle of the main restaurant where they have pizza, burgers, salads and fruit etc on offer. The all inclusive starts at 11.00 am and stops around 11.30-12. The drinks are strong and of high quality. Tea and coffee and soft drink facilities in all bars. The entertainment team work all day ensuring that you are looked after. During the day they organise archery, games in the pool, pool aerobics etc and if it happens to rain activities will switch to the pool bar or inside in the main entertainment room. There is a kids club on site although as we didn’t have any children I can’t comment on it. The evening entertainment began with time for the kids, then the usual things you have I.e. magicians, parrot shows, bands and singers all of which were of a high standard. The entertainment team did a show 1 evening which was first class and the compère was also very good. There was plenty of sun beds around the pool and on the grassy areas around the complex. The room itself was pretty basic and I agree it could do with moderation. On a personal note I was disappointed that there was no hairdryer in the room and that you had to hire one which I thought was strange in this day and age. Also to me personally I would have preferred a small fridge in the room instead of a TV. The room was cleaned every day and the towels changed when requested. The nearest town is accessible by going over the hills by the beach until you reach another beach were another hotel is visible on a hill and beside it there are steep steps to climb and your there. Takes about 15 minuets although be careful going up the hill as the ground can be rocky and uneven. I wouldn’t advise walking there in the dark. There is also a train which stops at various hotels and takes you into the town.

We had full board. Food was great and loved the way the accommodation was set out as individual bungalows rather than a multi-story block. They had a good system to transport you around the site if you didn't want to walk. Entertainment was good, not just singing for a change. Staff were attentive, efficient and polite. What not to like, and it was great value too! We went end of September for 10 days mainly for snorkeling, some lovely local bays and weather and visibility were good. Definitely worth a visit are the Cuevas del Pilar, amazing caves that you get to buy boat. The local dive shop in Porto Colom do the trip. Porto Colom is also a lovely place to visit anyway.

1. We paid extra for a priority room but it soon became apparent that this wasn't the case, we were a good 10 minute walk from all the amenities and even the outdoor furniture was of a better quality in what were the closer rooms. We didn't even have a view. 2 . There was a slab of marble on the bathroom wall which was very loose..It was on the entrance to the shower cubicle. 3.The step down to the shower was very deep, i did slip, it was extremely dangerous. 4 The ceiling fan was held up with tissue paper, we didn't use the fan as we didn't want it to catch fire. 5The fridge that we hired because we wanted cold drinks in our room was very rusty and not PAT tested and we felt it was unsafe to use 6. The photographs of the rooms on the website are very misleading, they are a lot smaller in real life ! 7.The fan that we hired ( because there is no A/C) didn't work properly and was full of dust and fluff 8.The pool was closed due to vomit in the pool and the day before it was closed because someone had defecated in it ! 9. There was an unsufferable smell in the outdoor games/pool/pingpong/exercise area which you had to pass to get to the restaurant and beach areas, it was so bad we named it "THE BOG OF ETERNAL STENCH " 10 The beach was very dirty with lots of rubbish everywhere. Cant do anything about wasps but they were everywhere especially near the self serve soft drinks station Food was just about bearable. We lasted 24 hours and we luckily found ( with the holiday companies help) a better hotel in a nicer resort.

Arrived and was able to check into room early. All staff very friendly. Drinks nice despite the usual local selection for all inclusive. Beach was amazing!! Lots of space, water clear and warm with plenty of fish....recommend taking your goggles and enjoy. Pool used once as it was very cold. Food was a bit hit miss, not nasty but by day 3 a little boring and repetitive. Still, I would definitely recommend it and will be back sometime.

My 3rd time to Tropicana. Life is just beautiful there. Arrived at 2am was offered cold buffet and drink. I declined apart from water . My room was made up with a beautiful towel flower on my bed. Always very clean. Food alway plentiful and tasty. Beach clean and roomy in October. Weather was amazing . Great welcome back from all the bar staff -now I call my friends. Entertainment fantastic as always. They still have the enthusiasm as they did at the start of the season even though they were down to 4 team members and Miguel as the front man. Must be hard to keep going with few holiday makers in October. Well done . 😘 Loved the shows as always thanks for the laughs , and disco after . Great songs , give great memories, and special friendships. X Thanks once again. Can't fault this place , love every minute there. Met some great people there again, friends for life, that's always nice when you are a solo traveller. As I said this feels like my 2nd home and extended family. Wish people would read reviews properly rather than just complaining about this beautiful hotel, yes it's different that's why it's nice.

lovely resort, friendly staff especially those at the bar, typical restaurant plenty of tables, good and varied choice of foods, beach and bay very pleasant, though beach bar not part of hotel, so any items are chargeable. site is spread out so the higher number chalets are a bit of a walk and up hill, it does have a constant mini bus that ferries you to and from the centre, does not run from 3.30-4.30 in the afternoon so be warned, can get full at times, but that the chance you take. Entertainment typical of the type of resort, outside acts one night, then the internal team another, and so on. The Ting-Ting train is very worth while 6 euros, which travels around the resorts to the shopping area, typical holiday shopping, and to be honest the same repeated in most shops, we got taxis back 3 per car 2 euro each. only down side its a bit of a long transfer over an hour, but worth while when you arrive. in all a great break well worth a visit

Stayed for a week at the end of September beginning of October and loved it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, a and spoke great English. We loved the beautiful grounds, the upkeep was great. We had a garden view room which was lovely. Very clean and tidy inside and out. Nice covered balcony with table and chairs. Maid service every day tidied and made our bed. The beach was great, with a wooden path nearly all the way to the sea for buggies and wheelchairs. Two sunbeds, parasol and safe €13.40 a day. Drinks (in plastic cups for beach safety) and snacks available all day for the all inclusive guests. We saw the pool being maintained every day, although we never used it, we swam in the sea most days. The water was lovely and warm and very clear, There were only two drawbacks and really not that major. One was the food was a bit bland, although there was a wide selection, it could've done with a bit more spice. I appreciate that with 300 rooms and a set period of time, it takes a lot of work to cater for everybody's taste. They tried with various local dishes, but as the food was kept hot during each meal period it did get a bit dry. But we never went hungry, so can't really complain. The other drawback was the fact that it wasn't near a town to go wandering for a change of scenery for meals or shopping. But as we only went for a relaxing break it wasn't really an issue for us as we were without the kids this time. The next hotel along the coast was full of Brits and blaring music/English pubs so not to our taste. But at Club Tropicana there are plenty of things to do like ping pong, mini golf, volley ball so kids wouldn't get bored. All in all a lovely relaxing week in a beautiful setting which we'd thoroughly recommend.

We where taken to this hotel after French Air Traffic Control Strike. Arrived at 3 am no drinks no nothing been without any food/refreshments for 10 hrs. The room was damp, smelt disgusting and was freezing. The bed mattress was thin and uncomfortable. The shower was rubbish. Breakfast I have no words apart from YUCK. I'm just thankful we were only there for 7 hrs but honestly that was 7 hrs too many.
