AC Hotel Ciutat de Palma by Marriott4.0 out of 5.0

Stayed for one night during a quick stop in Palma, picked it as it was the only major chain hotel I could find in Palma and it had a good location only a few minutes walk from the harbour front. Was quickly checked in by friendly reception staff and found my room on the second floor to be modern and clean if not a little small. The cons however where the fact my double room seemed to have been created by pushing two single beds together, which in my view doesn’t make a double, especially when they have separate bedding. On that subject the bedding was not pleasant and was basically two thin sheets with a blanket in between that made it hard to sleep without the covers moving all over the place. The noise from the traffic outside was also really bad, in fact it felt like I had the window open all night, the room really could have benefited from some thicker glass. The shower in the bathroom was very pleasant, although there was no bath but this did not bother me. Also whilst having a number of channels on the TV many of them did not work. The WiFi which was complimentary for me as a Marriott rewards member worked fine and I was able to easily watch a movie on Netflix in the evening. If you’re visiting Palma in business then this you can probably do worse than this hotel but I wouldn’t recommend it for tourists, certainly not those staying for more than a couple of nights anyway.
This hotel is worth considering if more central hotels are booked up or too expensive. It's at a busy junction which means it's quite noisy. After one night we asked to be moved to a more quiet room, but even then had to keep the windows shut and the AC on all night. It's only 15 mins walk into the centre and there are plenty of buses. We were offered breakfast for 10 Euros each but decided against it because we wanted something more simple and there are plenty of bars nearby serving breakfast. It's a business hotel rather than tourist, but that made no difference to us. The room was spotlessly clean but the bathroom door was a simple glass swing door with a half-inch gap around it, which I've only encountered before in a budget IBIS hotel. I prefer more privacy and I wouldn't have expected that in a 4 star hotel.
The hotel is part of the Marriott group so I foolishly thought it would be of a good standard. The hotel was in a fairly central location near the marina area with several God bars and restaurants near by and fairly easy walking to the old town. Reception on arrival was pretty good as the room was ready ahead of the usual check in time so I thought things were going well. The room itself was okay, with a rather small balcony with no chairs or table (probably as they couldn't get any small enough to fit on it). After unpacking we left for the day arriving back at about 5pm with the sun on the balcony. The room must have been in the mid thirties and was sweltering. I tried turning the AC on to discover it wasn't working. I called reception to be advised a technician would see to it. After an hour I called reception again only to be told that the 'individually' controlled AC had been turned off centrally throughout the hotel and they would switch it back on in April. The website confined all rooms with AC so why wasn't it available. Dumbfounded looks from reception and no manager available. They did however offer the only fan available - I really thought they were kidding. With teh balcony door open the noise from traffic was unbearable so I couldn't leave it open all night. I emailed the manager to be told they were trying to switch it back on. After 2 days they were successful but I had two nights of terrible sleep in unbearably hot conditions. Breakfast - £12 per night - not worth it. The fresh fruit was good as were the juices and coffee. Everything else was of a poor standard. Dried up scrambled egg, very fatty bacon and inedible sausage. My advice go elsewhere if you do stay.
Had a fantastic break in Palma for 3 nights staying at the Hotel. Fantastic Standards and customer service at all times. Great location. Only 15 / 20 minute walk from the Historic centre and Cathedral. Room 305 was on the front and with a lovely view. A bit noisy at night as Air-con pre set heat only ( still classed as winter in Palma) so had to have the Patio door open. But this was not a problem. Thank you for a great stay.
First of all, the man at the front desk, who was there most of the time, was really polite, friendly and welcoming. The room was perfect size - our favorite parts were the nice cozy little balcony and the modern bathroom made of dark green marble. Also, the location was good: we could easily walk to the city and the castle of Belver was nearby. Overall a great hotel with delicious breakfast and good cleaning - we would definitely recommend this hotel!
Firstly, this hotel has a great location. Close to the beach, shops, walks etc. Then, you'll be surprised with the rooms. Modern, clean, comfortable. I had a peep of the sea from my room, including a balcony. The service is good. Breakfast was a little basic, not too much green stuff, but good for a few days. The Gym is modern, well stocked, but way too small. Would definitely staff again.
Very well-located hotel, close to the marina, restaurants and bars. Very comfortable bed, modern facilities. Wifi in the bedroom was on and off unfortubately. Staff was very polite and extremely helpful.
I stayed there twice for one night. I think the location is good as it is about 15-20min walk to the old town. The harbour is just a 2 min walk. The staff are friendly enough but the rooms are on the small and dark side. Plenty of amenities in the room but no tea making facilities. But if you ask the bar staff for some hot water, they will happily give you a thermos full of hot water to take back to your room. The bar and restaurant look nice but I have not eaten at the hotel. I could hear the road traffic and my neighbour from my room even though it was a quiet time of the year so not sure during peak time.
It's my second time here. This place is very convenient. Everything is in walking distance. 10 minutes walk from the gorgeous church. 5 minutes walk to the beach. Rooms are very clean. The staff is always on top of there game.
