It is a gorgeous property and is for adults over 18 only, which makes it perfect for a quiet or a romantic getaway. It is connected to its sister property Dhigu by a complimentary water ferry which runs every 2-5 minutes and takes 5 mins to cross. The ferry runs from 8am to 11.30pm. So incase you crave noise just go and spend the day at Dhigu. Reservations: the best way to get a good deal is to call the hotel and haggle, whine etc. etc. No other site can give a better deal. I tried them all and finally called the hotel and struck a great deal. The best package is room and breakfast. We found that after eating a heavy and leisurely breakfast we were not hungry till 4ish. Then we had a light snack and dinner by 9pm. If you take full board even though you can eat at any restaurant the full menu is not available. There are a lot of dishes that are not a part of the full board and if you do want to order them you have to pay extra. They recommend bottled water and other than the room where water is complimentary it is charged virtually at the same cost as a bottle of beer. Carry water from the room with you where ever you go. Housekeeping is great and there is service morning and evening. In room service is the worst I have ever seen in any property. Be prepared to make 3-5 calls and wait for over 40-50 mins for anything you have asked for. Also when making the room bookings ask for discount instead of the complimentary dinner $75 towards spa treatment. Food: there are 7 restaurants between the two hotels veli and dhigu and you are free to eat at any one of them. The thai is a must as apart from the great food it is the most scenic of them all. Do book a table otherwise the places get full. I personally preferred the ala carte menu to the buffet. I found all the buffets over priced and not great as far as spread went. Water sports: there are a lot of water activities available but all at a cost. There is next to nothing done by the hotel on a complimentary basis. Prices vary from $40 to $2500 depending on the activity. Balance Spa: the spa is pretty much like any other I have visited. The private, enclosed villas which they used as therapy rooms were nice and spacious and a bit different. However to be honest would not be able to really point out any major difference otherwise, except that the therapies were priced more on the higher end of the spectrum. They did prepare a special table for us on our anniversary and also sent cake and champagne to the room. Just as a last note the curtain was falling off in our room and the all the cupboard and other wooden doors were sticking (sorry dont mean to be nit picking but cant help but notice such things)
The resort is amazing. Rooms are just like the pictures. This is an only ow villa. Also this only for couples. Very quite and pristine. This a set of 3 resorts. Veil, Dhigu, naladhu. All hotels are accessible to all guests. We had the hb plan and this meant we could choose any restaurant to eat. This was a luxury. Lastly special thanks to Salem and saeed. They were really sweet and surprised us on the last day with a special breakfast.
His English, Talk speed, Hospitality, Polite attitude, knowledge, friendly, fantastic !!! I recommend Thai restaurant (Lunch time) nice view nice food !!! We can transfer between Veli island and Dhigu island every 10 minute by nice boat !!! Clean everywhere !!!.
It was the best trip i ever had, everything was perfect and amazing i had the ocean villa, and it was perfect choice since it had ocean view with some waves so it was very romantic, and all the staff there were helpful and so kind the hotel was super clean
Anantara Veli is an awesome property....with everything perfect. The sweet staff , the serene seashores , the stunning sunsets , the spectacular soft sand, seafood , sting rays and sharks .....just everything was so special.
Have you heard of the band Vertical Horizon and their song Best I ever had? That depicts majority of me and my wife in Anantara. A private island with blue skies, clear water, suitable water sports and great accommodations. Plentiful of activities and places to go to. The fun part for us is swimming below our room in the superior water villa. It is a must for all tourists especially people who loves the sea and its inhabitants. Overall, it was an amazing experience for both of us and we would gladly come back again because we are still not yet satisfied in completing our stay there. Till next year.
My husband and I decided to take a small break and being based in Dubai it was easy for us to return to the Maldives. We stayed in the Anatara Dhigu resort in 2011 and loved it; so this time we decided to try the Anantara Veli resort and it was absolutely Magical. We stayed in an over the water pool villa which allowed us to either participate in the resort amenities or just laze around the pool. Words cannot describe how beautiful and amazing this paradise is. The staff was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Being foodies we tried every restaurant and they were all great however; a special shout out to Origami (the Teppanyaki is a must) and Sea.Fire.Salt - you haven't lived until you have had the garlic bread and the steak there. Definitely one for the bucket list!
Super satisfied w/ our stay.. our honeymoon super memorable.. and the staff super friendly.. food alsoo good... just perfect stay to relax and wasted time.. me and hubby so much enjoy the watervilla...
3 different islands in paradise give you plenty of options to stay busy or relax and simply do nothing. Staff was amazing. Food/drinks were excellent. Once in a lifetime trip! Would highly recommend this to anyone looking to see the Maldives.
What more could I say that I haven't told in my previous reviews. It's simply a paradise on earth for everything, the island, the beach, the lagoon, the colors, but most of all for the wonderful staff, simply the best.... That's why I keep returning to what I call my second home, and hope to do so in the future. Thanks to all you wonderful people. See you soon.
