I have a hard time finding something that I really did not like at this hotel. Well, the bathroom was a bit small, the storage space in the room was a bit limited and the breakfast was not out of this world. But in spite of this, I keep the memory of a nice hotel in a nice city whose main attractions are located within walking distance.
We had a very good quite room on the 4th floor beside the pool. There is also a small roof terrace with sunbeds and chairs on the 5th floor. Breakfast was included in our booking. Ample selection of bread, pastries, meat, cheese, fruit, yogurts etc. Also choice of coffee from a machine and different teas. The hotel is in an ideal location in the heart of the old town. Plenty of meusems and lots of churches. There is an abundance of fine restaurants close by. If your into shopping there is a huge variety to choose from. A walk to the marina is worth while . Would definitely go back.
Just on the edge of the historic centre of Malaga the location is perfect for restaurants and only a few minutes walk from the main train station and even nearer to the station that connects directly to the airport. The football stadium is also a reasonable walk away. Although central it was not particularly noisy as the local bars did not seem to open too late in to the night. The checking in process was quick and efficient and the room we had was fine, a little on the small side but with safe, minibar and tv. The bed was huge and was the most comfortable we have had, the pillows were excellent. The only slight criticism would be the lack of drawers. There were just shelves and an open wardrobe. The breakfast was fine and the selections were constantly replenished. There is a pool on the roof though we did not use. I would be happy to return if ever in Malaga again.
I've been to Malaga many times before usually just before Christmas. Seeing the city in spring/summer time is even better. Loved the hotel Itaca with the roof top pool and sunbed area.great place to relax after sightseeing. Our room was on the third floor and was adequate for my friend and I. The only negative was there was just one mirror which was in the bathroom. One full length mirror in bedroom area and this would be perfect. The hotel is in a good position for sightseeing & museums. So many Tapas bars and restaurants to choose from too. The staff very helpful and friendly and breakfasts were very good. Lovely small hotel in fabulous area in lovely Malaga. Can't ask for much more.
I'll start this with the negatives. The Beds are Hard. Fine if you are used to Camping and waking up with a sore back, but otherwise my wife and I found them uncomfortable, purely because we are used to softer memory foam matresses. Also the TV has only one english channel, and it was 24 hours of CSI type shows. Luckily my wife and I didn't fall out during our stay, as we had become experts in getting away with murder by the end of the week. Hardly the hotels fault though. We had a room on the 4th Floor, having asked for a quiet room. The room was quiet until other guests start moving around sunbeds on the rooftop above you as soon as the sun came out. Now the Positives. Located very close to the Museo Carmen-Thyssen, this Hotel is ideally located. Many of Malaga's best restaurants and attractions are just a short walk away. The Bedrooms are small, compared to some hotels, but adequate, with a bathroom decorated in a modern style. The windows provide beautiful views to the narrow streets below, which can be active throughout the night. Our room had aircon, which I presume all do. Vital in this climate. One night I decided to switch it off and open a window instead, and soon became a buffet for the local insect population. We arranged Taxi through the hotel and the driver collected us outside arrivals and brought us to the Hotel door. There is no vehicle access to the hotel but a nearby street has pedestrian priority, and he led us the remainder of the way on foot. About €20 taxi to or from airport. On arrival the receptionist did have a long discussion with the driver before checking us in, but otherwise the staff were most friendly and helpful. The Gentleman with the beard in particular deserves special praise for assisting in our planning our departure, allowing us to store our bags behind reception, and explaining how and where we could get a bus to Granada. On our return, that evening, same gentleman booked a taxi for us, and waited outside for it to arrive, knowing where it should come from. The rooftop pool is ideal for cooling off, but not suitable for olympic swimming. Both pool and rooftop seating area are wheelchair accessable, though some rooms on the 4th floor may not be. The rooftop seating area is an ideal spot to spend an evening watching the sun go down, reading or enjoing a coffee you could have bought at the nearby Costa. There is no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. There is however a fridge containing cold drinks. We did not include breakfast when we booked, but it can be paid for in the morning at the bar for €12 each. Doing so causes great confusion to the staff in the dining room. Standard Continental Buffet breakfast, hot and cold meats, cereal, juice, tea/coffee, croissants etc. Not great value really may have been if we had included it when we booked, not sure. You can get similar in nearby restaurants for the same price, and feed 2 people for that. In summary, the hotel is ideally located, good value, with excellent staff. But let down by not giving a good nights sleep, and not having anything to watch on TV to help you sleep.
This hotel is very well situated by Malaga old town, which is very stylish with lots to see - including the excellent Picasso museum. Friendly and helpful staff and nice breakfast. Hotel is right beside a good little bar/restaurant. Only let down was the pool - shut in November despite over 20 degree temperatures - and not reopening till March. I wanted to swim so that was disappointing
We recently had a short city break in Malaga and the Itaca Malaga was the perfect choice of hotel. It is a small hotel right in the centre, a stone's throw from Constitution Square, yet very quiet and hidden away. The rooms were modern, clean and with big comfy beds. A free little mini bar in the room (water, coke and beer) was a great touch and something I had not come across before (Can you have a little mini bar?). There was a rooftop pool and lovely sun terrace looking across the rooftops. Breakfast was lovely and just what was needed before a day's sight seeing. Malaga was a great location for a city break. It had a bit of everything: castles, cathedral, museums, galleries, walking tour, harbour, beach, bars, restaurants - perfect! The Itaca Malaga was great value and a great place to stay.
The excellent location and friendly staff could not make up for the lower standards and grubbiness in other areas. We paid over the odds because of checking in on Good Friday. Our room was clean, being first floor we used the stairs which had a dirty marks which looked like blood stains on them on our arrival which were still there when we left two days later. One look at the pool deterred us from using it. We asked for a quiet room, so we're given an internal one, fab view over air con pipes, but our choice, it was quiet until very early in the morning when we heard staff and others continually talking loudly, so bang went any chance of a lie in.
Really good location if you want to be close to "everything". Staff helpful, standard of room average, clean but not new. The walls are paper thin, you could literally hear what the people in the next room was doing in the bathroom! Had a room at the back with no views, but the rooftop terrace is nice if you want to look out over the city.
Almost new hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast is ok, although not central European standard, but good anyway. Quiet location, two minutes walk from the old town main street. Restaurant nearby and grocery store with in 2-3 minutes. Check restaurant Andino. 10min walk from train station.
