Although we visited Gran Melia Don Pepe for the 6th time in a few years, we still se im provement at the already high standard. For professionals as we are in the leisure industry, is that very interesting and inspiring to see (and copy)
We keep coming back, which is the best recommendation. We usually spend the day by the pool or down at the beach, and all walk into town together, along the palm-lined front, for an evening meal. We wheel the kids back in their push chairs. It is a large hotel, with plenty of areas that are good for kids (and lots of areas which are quiet without kids, like between the pool and bar area). There is a fantastic outdoors pool which never feels crowded. The design is not good for swimming lengths. The kids love the inside pool as it a little warmer. The views from the rooms are stunning - the higher the better. Breakfasts are a real event. It is extensive. The kids love the pancakes, made by Vanessa in any shape requested (within reason!). Kids club is run during the peak period. My initially reluctant kids thought it was fantastic. It maintains the peace and quiet for the adults. When we were there last, there was a lot of building work around the pool. They could have done this work out of season, but the Finance Dept probably did not release the budgets in time. A classic example of decisions made behind the scenes impacting customer experience. Sloppy. If you have young kids like me, give Cappuccino a miss. I always feel I am spoiling the relaxed environment for everyone else, so can never enjoy it. The Red Room is a fantastic perk if you are on the red level. A quick drink and nibble if a fantastic to start the evening. The hotel recently replaced the barbed wire fence between the pool and the sea. The new glass fence looks so much smarter and makes the the most of the view.
Stayed there for a week, and I was shocked with the small rooms and bad room service. Bellmen were rude and did not help when I had shopping bags with me, and late at night if I asked them to park my car they would yell and make me park my own car! They only good thing was the hotel is in an excellent location!!
Had the opportunity to lunch with friends and it was just impecable!!! So far the rice with lobster was my favorite and the T bone was deliciously . Great service and the chef was very welcoming. Recommend this place
Although this is quite a old hotel recent refurbishment has brought it up to date very light and spacious although a strange smell as soon as you go in Lots of families around so seems to be very child friendly I was not staying at the hotel so can't comment on rooms But everything was very clean inside and outside so rooms should be the same Our meal was very good and service knowledge was helpfull and polite A very nice large hotel with a good location near beach and all other amenities
Very good hotel in nice area. Really exceptionally fine pool/garden/beach! Nice room, furniture, and balcony with fantastic seaview. Very fine Red Level Lounge idea! Very kindly and helpfull staff, Good meal/beverages. A little bit too expensive hotel. Only one, but unpleasant minus: pretty careless room-cleaning with huge using of cheap, stinky chlorine-based desinfectants! Unbelievable, as in humblest 1-star hotel!
The Gran Melia Don Pepe is a lush getaway in the middle of turbulent Marbella. The location is phenomenal with easy access to the boardwalk and the ocean. The "Capuccino" beach is a must, attached to the hotel. Providing a luxurious Mediterranean experience with delicious food as well as drinks. The pool is huge and fun for people of all ages. The steakhouse in the hotel is a carnivores dream, the wagyu beef is an indulgence every traveler deserves. And the breakfast buffet is endless in variety and different flavors. I love this hotel and Marbella is always a good, fabulous time.
Good location on beach, 8 min cab ride to Puerto Banus and 15-20 min walk to Marbella old town. Hotel is nice and nothing wrong with it but not luxury 5 star quality e.g. no water or air con in the gym, no water in the room, turn down service hit and miss.
This was my second visit to the Don Pepe and it was as lovely as it was last year. I had a fabulous premium sea view room on the 5th floor which had seen a refurbishment of the bathroom. You now have a separate walk in shower plus a bath. The surrounds of the bathroom are all glass so there is a wealth of light in there but there is a curtain if you don't want others to watch your ablutions! On my first night before my friends arrived, I ate in the T Bone Grill for the first time. This was probably one of my favourite meals of my stay in Marbella. The octopus I ordered was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Staff are a true delight - they are uniformly helpful. The only let down was when we popped to reception one afternoon to ask for a recommendation for a restaurant in the nearby mountains; no one at reception had any personal recommendations and they resorted to googling some ideas for us which we could have done ourselves. The gym is well equipped although is hot in the early morning due to the sun streaming in. It didn't stop me using it tho and I loved the view while I was working out. I do wish that management would put a water fountain in the gym as it seems just a little cheeky to have a vending machine as your only option, if you become thirsty. My only tiny complaint, and this is probably more about the other guests than the hotel itself, was that I was shocked about how many sun loungers are reserved really early in the morning but then are not used for hours. Frequently when I left the gym by about 8.30, all of the sun loungers round the pools had belongings on them. That said, Rafa and his team were always helpful to try to find us 4 sun loungers together. I really would recommend this hotel. It's in an ideal location within easy reach of Marbella Old Town, it offers wonderful sea views and this, combined with the friendliness of the staff, make it the perfect hotel stay.
Wonderful hotel, staff were exceptional. Pool and garden area are really beautiful.Good selection of eating options in the hotel itself. Cava and water option on check in is a really lovely touch, 5 star feeling from this moment onwards.
