There were positives, nice room, friendly staff However negatives outweighed this, nowhere near beach, on the edge of a busy roundabout, spa was an extra charge which we had not anticipated. Would not return.
A modern hotel, very clean with nice rooms marred by the noise of the adjacent autoway. The staff were very friendly. The buffet style meals were quite good but spoiled in part by insufficient warm plates and hot food gone cold. On the plus side there were always "specials" being cooked to order. This applied to both breakfast and dinner. The Spa was great and an experience. The bar seemed rarely to be manned and it could take up to 10 minutes to have somebody summoned to serve even at times which were known to be busy. This gave the feeling of being understaffed as the bar personnel were doubling as waitresses on another floor. It would have been helpful and a good idea if there had been some information about places of local interest, walks, sights, markets etc.
Valentine Stay in which I also celebrated my wife birthday. Massage service and spa was execellent. The room was tidy and had a lovely terrace with a hot tub which allowed us to sit in the tub even when raining an excellent and new experience.
Receptionist are very helpful and very welcoming. The rooms are a good size and kept really clean. The pool area is substantial with enough sun beds for everyone, and the pool bar is good. The hotel is unusually quiet with there being no children under the age of 16. The hotel bar does not open until 5o'clock but drinks can be purchased from the pool bar. If you like peace and quiet this is the place for you. We only ate breakfast which was enough and self serve with a lot to chose from, we like to eat the local food and there is a good choice in the surrounding area, with Estapona only a half hour bus ride away. The beach is only about 30 minutes away but you do have to cross the main motorway by bridge if you are walking, even then you can find somewhere to grab a snack.
A friend and I have stayed at the Barcelo on several occasions , mainly because we really love the spa, the rooms (we rent the very large penthouse suite, amazing), and the lovely staff. However, I feel that the restaurant really lets the hotel down. On one occasion when the hotel was not full an "a la carte" menu was served, very good, but the buffet is not good at all, and this week, on Wednesday night, it was truly awful. We did not complain at the time because the staff are so nice we could not bring ourselves to hurt their feelings! I do hope that when we return next year it will have improved.
Great hotel for adults only! Modern, contemporary with a great spa and restaurant. My favourite was the pool area, very spacious and luscious, the ideal place to switch off and relax. Great location too, short distance to the beach and short drive to Estepona or San Pedro de Alcantara and 10km from Puerto Banus. Room was clean, spacious, with all mod cons and fast internet connection with a good size balcony offering sea views. Breakfast was good with enough choice for all tastes. I'd recommend renting a car as the public transport in Spain is bit unreliable. I asked if I could borrow an iron and print several documents, all was done promptly without any extra charge. I was very impressed. Super lovely and helpful staff. Thumbs up :)
Great stay with my Wife at the Barcelo Estepona, modern/contemporary looking and very clean. We stayed in a double superior room which was very spacious with big bathroom with double sink, bath, shower and separate toilet. Bed was queen size and it was huge! Very comfortable and slept really well. I booked it through Secret Escapes so we got a great discount (42%) off the normal rate and the deal also included a welcome drink, Spa circuit for us both in the Thelasso Spa and half board. The choice of food was excellent and they had a chef available for cooking you fresh fish, meat and omelettes at breakfast. The only negative was that the food on the buffet was not hot enough. The hotel is not actually in Estepona itself but on the outskirts in a place called Benahavis and there's not much locally to see and do. We took a taxi into Estepona (about 5 miles away) for the evening which was €20 but if you take the the bus you can get there much cheaper, we missed it and didn't want to wait for 30 mins. It's also very easy to get to Gibraltar by public transport and we paid €26 for both of us return, had a great day in Gib and would recommend visiting, it's approx 1hr 30 mins to get there if you catch the express coach in Estepona. All in all a great stay in a lovely, modern and clean hotel.
The hotel is very trendy the spa is of good quality. Food was delicious. Employees were very friendly.Although you needed to get a car to go to the pubs that wasn't my issue I enjoyed the stay and will return in the near future.
Lovely clean hotel, quiet but a little out of the way. Set in a residential area, can't fault the staff or hotel. Location in reality to Estepona itself about 5 miles on the irregular bus service, even local lady told me the buses were useless! No faults with hotel at all , it was a very relaxing break!
The location of this hotel is not what I would call Estepona; this is quite misleading. It's actually a lot nearer to Marbella/ Puerto Banus area. The hotel is just off a very busy roundabout and not particularly close to anything of any interest. I would say that it's essential that you hire a car if you are wanting to get out and about. To get to the nearest beach you are looking at a 10/15 minute drive. There is a Burger King and Lidl supermarket within walking distance which is handy for snacks, water and alcohol supplies. If you are just after a relaxing spa and pool break then this hotel ticks the boxes. It suited our purposes and we enjoyed the fact there were no children shouting or running around the pool area. Breakfast is of good quality- plenty to choose from and something for everyone.
