the hotel is well situated in the Casas de Campos, on 5 minutes walk of the city centre. We had a double room on the 4th floor , on the back off the hotel . Very quiet. Rooms are very clean en nicely decorated. Nearby good restos and nice little bars . Good breakfast en very friendly staff.
There are many plus-sides to the Mariposa. The rooms are huge and clean. I loved the shower - high water pressure, nice bath tub. They give you a complimentary bottle of water each day as well as the typical tea / coffee stuff. The location is good / great. It's a 10-15 minute walk to Maria Zambrano, the main train station (also where there is a nearby mall), 5 minutes to Malaga Central station, and 10 minutes to the "touristy area" / Malaga Park. Shopping and restaurants are nearby, though not plentiful. I liked "Al Yamal", a Moroccan place. The wifi worked very well, though I think there were occasional slow-downs. The hotel breakfast was very good, well-worth the 9.5e imho. They had fresh-squeeze OJ and a crepe station as well as the usual (and delicious) items. The staff were nice, friendly, helpful. I was allowed to check in a little early, which is always great flying from the US. The only downside was that the room was susceptible to outside noise, and there was some noise, even though it's on a quiet street.
Great location near the waterfront and beach and not far from old Malaga (15 minute walk) . Walk to main railway station is 15 minutes Comfortable large rooms for about £70 a night. Helpful staff with extensive buffet breakfast
I have stayed in this area of Malaga several times in the past, and this was probably the nicest room I have had at these prices. The hotel appeared to have been recently remodeled. The overall appearance was clean with a modern flair. The one issue I had is that breakfast was not included with the room. I have stayed at cheaper hotels that were very nice and they included a really nice breakfast.
The hotel had very comfortable beds and had some nice boutique type decorations to it. The parking is tight if you have a larger car. The location is close to some restaurants and shopping area. The breakfast is severed in the lobby. The views from the room are just of alley or the street in front of the hotel. The hotel was very clean and the staff was helpful with the luggage pick up later in the day after we had checked out.
I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. It's very new with comfy bed and spacious bathrooms. It was a big improvement from another hotel we were at in Malaga. The service is professional and quick. The location is quite good. It's very close to the beautiful fun restaurant and shopping area and totally easy walking distance to the marina.
parking is seriously a joke. anything larger than a fiat 500 is extremely difficult to park. if you are looking to stay somewhere with convenient parking, this is not he place. ramp is a 45 degree angle, no radius for turning at bottom spaces are suitable for an extremely small car only.
I booked this hotel in error. I contacted them several times explaining that I booked a hotel in Malaga believing this was close to where my teenage daughter was working. After talking to her employer I realised that I should have booked a hotel in fuenerola. I explained this to them, they suggested I take a cab morning and evening totalling nearly 80 euros a day, or I could change the date for a small admin fee. Neither of these options were if any use. I booked a non cancellation room in error believing that I was booking the right location. All I can say is that I would never recommend or stay in such an inflexible or unhelpful hotel. This is a very impersonable hotel, with staff and management with no compassion or empathy!
We've been to Malaga a couple of times before but this was our first time at a room mate hotel. We stayed over new year and found an offer to upgrade to a suite for not that much more money. Very pleased with the great space we had, modern furnishings and really comfortable bed, as well as a decent sized bathroom with powerful shower and good hairdryer. We'd been a little concerned on arrival that the room (301) was next to the lift and the room used for storage of linen and cleaning equipment. But as the bathroom was next to the lift then we had no noise problem from that at all and weren't disturbed by staff going into the storage room either. Overall we found the hotel quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Staff were all very friendly and often said hello when you saw them around the building. We felt very at home here and were sad to leave. The location is perfect. A few minutes walk from the port area, cathedral and main shopping streets, port bus station, train station (the final stop on the line and one after the main train station if you are coming from the airport). But the street is also far back enough from the main roads to be pleasantly quiet. Definitely the first hotel we'll look at for our next Malaga stay.
We had one night in Malaga before an early flight, after a weeklong family vacation further east. That night just happened to be New Year's Eve, so we wanted to find a place to stay that would allow us to experience the fun city vibe but still allow us easy access to the airport the next morning. This hotel turned out PERFECT. We found a free curb parking spot 2 blocks away (though our initial plan was to use the hotel's garage), and it was just a short walk to the heart of the main town square, where everyone gathers on New Year's Eve. The area seemed a little down-at-heel and empty after dark in the immediate vicinity of the hotel but the hotel itself was just fine, and once we walked a few blocks towards the city center it became lively and populated. I would not have wanted to do that walk alone at night, as a female...but some would say that's overcautious of me. As a New Year's Eve splurge, we booked a regular room for our kids (ages 18 and 21) and a suite for ourselves, and the 4 of us really enjoyed hanging out in the suite's living room for a while over wine, cheese and bread (bought at the local supermarket, very close by) before heading out in search of dinner. The regular hotel room was normal decor but the suite furnishings were more chic; we enjoyed the splurge. The drive to the airport was a VERY short, straight shot, 15 minutes by car. (Allow longer at a trafficky time of day; we were going before dawn.)
