Very relaxing place, with a nice volcanoes and hills view. You can enjoy the restaurant, the spa and the pool. The staff is very kind and can organize meny activities in the coffee plantation or outside.
The architecture, ambience, landscape, surrounding, view, amenities, facilities, service, all perfect! We stayed at the Ambar family Villa which has beautiful view to the mountains & lush greenery. I & hubby particularly enjoyed the in-house coffee plantation tour.
We loved this hotel. The garden is huge, quiet and luxurious, and you can walk around to check the coffee plantation. The views are amazing, especially from the swimming pool. The spa is super nice. We had great massages in a very relaxing room for two. The restaurant serves good food. The rooms are large, confortable and authentic. The staff is very nice (even if communication in English is not very easy with some of the staff). We woke up early in the morning to match the sunrise on the volcanos from the Mount Andung: it was crowdy with the locals being on holiday during this weekend but it added some fun to the experience. Same for Borobudur temples. Highly recommended.
We spend our 2nd honeymoon in this hotel. We can call this place is Magelang's Ubud. Their location is perfect because we can enjoy the view to the mountain at its surrounding. Also the weather near the mountain. We really can feel peace and holiday mood in this area. So relaxing. We welcomed by flower arrangement and honeymoon cake. The room is quite big for only the two of us. We can enjoy the view of Merapi & Merbabu from our balcony. We also have spa package, ended with flower bath (but you can have flower bath in your own room too). Our package also include romantic dinner at their restaurant and pickup/return from/to nearest airport. Their service is excellence, the staff was very friendly. It was so peaceful at the first night but it become very crowded (thankfully in my last day before we check out) Usually people visit this place for retreat, meditate, relaxation or maybe improve their health. So they are not allow visitors to smoke in every area of this hotel, even in the lounge, bar & restaurant. Their menu is (maybe) a healthy food so it didn't really satisfy my appetite (which is horrible because we cant get food from somewhere else). The wi fi is limited for each gadget, so when the limit is reached, that gadget cannot use their wi fi anymore. Overall, the best feature in this hotel is their location.
We were impressed by the resort from the moment we arrived - and it only got better. The service level of the staff was exceptional, without being intrusive. Mbak Lily was very helpful during our stay, and everyone else we met there was equally hospitable. We enjoyed our room with the view of the Mt. Andong - breathtaking view to wake up to. Room was spacious and comfortable, furnished with antique Javanese pieces. Just beautiful. Food was excellent - wine collection can be improved though. We enjoyed the Coffee Plantation Walk and the Yoga class, and would like to try the Mountain Trekking on our next visit. One of the many highlights of our stay was the Hammam Spa, which is definitely not to be missed!
Mesastilas is very unique resort. It is suitable for quiet and relaxing purpose. We can stay there and no need to go out at all as everything you need are peovided in there. From swmimg pool, Hamam bath, restaurants and high tea every afternoon. I like some activities as well. I tried how to learn to make Janur arrangement which usually use for weddings. Then I tried to draw a batik which is interesting and new experience for me. I tried traditional herbs drink called Jamu. It is sooo delicious and I enjoyed it. I walked in the coffee plantation and get some general knowledge about coffee. There is yoga class everyday and others sport. There is a Power Walk program which is walking around 5 kms through the villages around the resort. I really enjoy the resort and the landscape of 23 ha surrounding still very nature and green and you get fresh air that a good getaway from a hectic busy week in Jakarta. If you bring the kids there are some activities for them as horse riding, learn how to dance the Javanese traditional dance and also traditional music called gamelan. Just an hour and half drive from Semarang Airport and you will find a beautiful sanctuary for your mind.
Another wonderful stay at Mesa Stila this Easter. We cannot rate this place highly enough. The staff go out of their way to take care of you, the setting is stunning, delicious food, beautiful villas, an amazing spa. This time we made the effort to do some exercise in the stretch and aquafit classes and were very grateful to Agus and Anam for pulling us into shape! Our thanks to the chefs for giving us the recipes to our favourite dishes, for Rosy and Slamet our lovely drivers, for Erni and her wonderful team in the spa and to Lily for answering all questions Indonesian. If you have a bucket list Mesa Stila should be on it!
Beautiful place just like the photos. The rooms are nice, clean, in the middle of nature. There are a lot of activities to do in house from coffee plantation tour to yoga in the morning. The staffs are nice and made the experience exceptional, especially our coffee tour guide. What can be improved is perhaps food; it is not that it sucks but rather for such a nice resort we expected more. Wine by the glass at the restaurant wasn't great either and overall wine prices / corkage price are high. However I think the overall experience is great. Very relaxing. Would come back.
Went to MesaStila to celebrate a friend's 30th anniversary and stayed 3 nights. The couple enjoys Javanese culture and brought their teenage son. MesaStila is a small coffee plantation and roaster turned resort and is an award winning secret gem of a location. The original owner was an Italian woman who was a former developer of the Aman resorts in Yogjakarta and Bali. The blend of Javanese design and Western comforts was very evident in the antiques and recreations of early 20th century Dutch Java style and architecture. Food was excellent and the staff assisted in arranging a special anniversary dinner that delighted the couple. We loved sitting in the restaurant or clubhouse at high tea and being hypnotized by the luscious green landscape with at least six volcanos on the horizon. The views from the large custom built villas were also The only downside is that central Java is still emerging as a tourist location and this resort lacks the ammenities of larger vacation resorts found in Bali or other major tourist locations in SEA. We enjoyed the coffee plantation hike and daily jamu drink but the other resort activities were limited. Perfect for those who want to lounge in quiet but not designed for the active get up and go family. The pool and exercise rooms were small. We hiked a nearby volcano on our third day. Unless you love spa, the other activities were limited to cultural things like batik and bamboo weaving. Ideal as a weekend alternative to Bandung for Jakarta dwellers but other vistors may consider Jogjakarta or Belitung first.
We had 5 wonderful days at Mesa Stila to unwind. We were pampered by their staff from the moment we arrived on the property and when we were dropped off at the airport. Staff were helpful and gracious. The food was diverse enough to keep us at the resort and didn't feel to need to hunt elsewhere. We enjoyed yoga and coffee tour on site. Our combined sunrise Borobudur and Prambanan tour was effortless as Ruffian was a skilled driver with excellent English and shared interesting local knowledge with us. Definitely the way to tour temples if you have children. The Resort and Spa is not cheap by South East Asia standards but the experience was well worth the price if you are looking to re-energise in a tranquil place filled with traditional Indonesia buildings (relocated and rebuild from other parts of Java), expansive and lush grounds, views of nearby volcanic mountains and thoughtful staff.
