This hotel meets all of our requirements. Close to metro. Good shops and eats in Plaza San Angel and Plaza Santa Ana. Good size room with great reading light, frig, AC, strong water pressure in shower, several outlets, black out drapes, breakfast buffet, rooftop terrace. Priced right. Short walk to Plaza mayor and museums.

Okay it is not 5* luxury but it is everything you need for a weekend city break. The staff were very friendly upon arrival and gave us rooms next to each other as requested - 4 friends together. We had asked for non-smoking rooms at the time of booking but sadly we were put in smoking rooms. The smell was obvious but the room was clean. We decided to go with it but the other two said the smell was too much and they asked for a change of room. They had to wait until the next day but sure enough they were moved without any fuss. The breakfast was very good for continental - some hot food and even delicious chocolate cake! Yes it was noisy at times but a lot of hotels are. We slept rather well and the beds were comfy. We went on the roof terrace one night and had a reasonably priced bottle of Cava. The terrace is quite small and not room for many people so we were unable to sit up there the next night. All in all a good hotel right in the centre of things with friendly staff.

The hotel is located at few steps from the Plaza Major, with an accessible price. Unfortunately my room was next wall to the theatre, where they have been playing disco music for most part of the night. No more

Hotel is very central clean and warm but is let down by the sound insulation we were woken a few times by other guests coming and going . If you go check out the churroz shop out on main road it was very good . Lots of homeless people nearby sad to see

I know I booked this on booking.com, and it waa only £105 per night...but seriously. The said it should have been £250 a night! Maybe there are other nice rooms if you pay full price, I'll never know. But for the small very tired room I had, not worth it

We stayed for 3 night at Cortez hotel, Beds were very comfortable; Restroom was very spacious for a couple. We enjoyed our days at hotel; Very close to the train station 5 min. and very close to Plaza Del Sol, Plaza Mayor by walking, and a lot of Good restaurants near by. The churreria, Mexican Tortas, Museo del Jamon, Chinse Food, and more. NO iron on the room, which we used the laundry room service, which they charge you $ 5 euros, for item.

Friendly and efficient welcome, a room which does the job, excellent breakfast and helpful staff. Very quiet location - you would not realise you are in the centre of Madrid. Able to use the wifi before leaving after checking out.

This hotel is a good base to explore Madrid from. It is very clean and quiet and the beds are comfy. It felt quite dark inside and the decor could do with a bit of modernising. No tea and coffee facilities in the room and very slow hairdryer attached to the wall. No atmosphere in the bar area. Price doesn't seem proportionate to the hotel itself.

This hotel has a really good location . On arrival you may think it's not a great neighbourhood but looks in this case are deceptive . It was safe very close to some great squares (plaza de mayor ) was ten minutes easy walk . The hotel was clean and the rooms comfortable . The beds provided a good nights sleep. There weren't many facilities beyond the basics . But how many do you need in a central hotel in Madrid if your city visiting ? Staff were friendly and spoke excellent English .so clean safe and pretty comfortable for a very reasonable price . Almost four stars

This was our first stop in Spain and we enjoyed our stay. Room is clean, nice counter space in the bathroom (which is important to me). Try not to get a room on the back side of the hotel facing the next street, as we did. When the bar closes at 2 a.m., the patrons continued the party outside our room. The noise carries right up the street and with the window open, it was awfully loud. Walking distance to all the main attractions, shopping and restaurants. Overall, it was a very nice stay.
