Room cleaning is not succesfull. Reception are is very much poor. Water drain in my room was completely blocked. I wonder how they keep on selling this room... Hovewer location is good, breakfast is enough
Very convenient for getting around Madrid, there is a metro station right outside. The rooms were very average with slightly out-dated design, and the bed could've been more comfortable. The air con is quite loud and unluckily the air con heating function was broken in my room during a cold winter night. The hotel is not bad considering the decent prices, but I wouldn't recommend it.
The Hotel is well located, minus is that the Breakfast takes place in the cellar and that I was not able to cancel the 17,-€ breakfast on short notice. The staff was very helpful and polite. The room was clean and quite comfortable.
... and I’ve been to dozens of 4-star hotels all over Spain. Getting an interior room is nothing unusual but if it lacks natural light it should be well illuminated and it was not the case. My room was dark, out of 3 lights above the bed 2 didn’t work so I asked to get them fixed, the next day only 1 got fixed. The phone didn’t work either. It was freezing cold, not sure the ac made anything but noise. The cosmetics are of a hostel standard; shampoo and bath gel in 1 in the form of gelatin, a comb, a shoe polish and a shower cap - that’s it! And perhaps the ugliest painting I’ve ever seen in a hotel room - yeah those Gaudi-like triangles on brown leather. Breakfast was Ibis-style, very basic and generic. All that at 240 EUR/night :))) The overall impression is that of a huge cost-cutting. Nice and polite receptionists, the only plus. Sorry Catalonia.
excellent location, rooms my was facing the street was big , had bottles of water every day. the size of the room was very confortable. the only problem was the elevator since is a small hotel there is only one elevator, and when you have a tourist bus checking in be sure you can use the stairs.
My room & the hotel were beautiful with a great location ion Calle Goya, but I as disappointed with my room . my television remote did not work. the front desk said it probably needed a battery & said someone would come to look at it. They never did. Thankfully I had my ipad still could watch things on you tube. Also the shower handle would not stay on it’s base. I had to shower against the wall & flooded the bathroom. Maintenance looked at it when I complaind as I was leaving
Overall a fine experience. Location good for business as on the metro line. Not that far from the old centre although the restaurants nearby tend to be a bit pricey. The staff were lovely, the breakfast was good and the room was fine and very clean.
Thermal heating of the sun had heated room. Despite "servicing" by maintenance unable to cool the room either because air conditioning season had been "ended" or inefficiency of the HVAC system. Regardless had to sleep. Otherwise an excellent hotel.
Catalonia is situated in a posher area of Madrid, away from Gran Via, yet close to the Prado Museum and National Library. Very typical restaurants are found withing walking distance in addition to the Metro in front of Hotel. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a Hotel for Business purposes or just want to be away from all the loud sounds of Gran Via.
Stayed here for 7 nights in Oct-Nov. Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Lots of cafes around for breakfast (decided not to have breakfast within hotel), Retiro Park reachable in 10 min walking.
- Close to El Retiro Park and Las Ventas
- Free WiFi in rooms and public areas
- Onsite dining
