A great hotel. Good and plentiful buffet food although a 9 pm dinner was late. Beds and bedroom were great and very comfortable. The hotel has a heated indoor pool, gym and Spa together with large outdoor pool. Great stay for an extra nights holiday. Thank you

This is a 4 star hotel with good facilities and extremely helpful and friendly staff. The food was buffet style and of a very good standard. We enjoyed our stay. One thing to note, that if you want to a buy a bottle of wine then it is 3 times the price in the bar than if you buy it at reception. If you do choose to purchase at reception it is chilled but you can’t drink it in the hotel communal areas. And finally, for those who like their shower, it is really powerful.

I was there for three day conference and had my lunch n dinner there. Must say very good food and services. It offers good view of the coast. Not far from the hotel I stayed in as they didn't have room to stay due to conference.

Just 1 night here courtesy of Easyjet when our flight to Bristol was delayed by a day.Could not fault the hotel, excellent accommodation, food & friendly helpful staff.Yes, it is very close to the airport, a bonus in our case!Located conveniently on the seafront & close to town centre.Would consider staying here if we ever visited Madeira agsin.

Great hotel, very clean, delicious food, very nice personel :) I can recommend it, and i come again :) Very good location, close to the airport - 15 minutes from Airport to hotel :) It was a great choice.

We were part of a larger group who spend seven nights at this hotel. The hotel has great views and the sound of the waves on the rocks during the night was sublime. Our room was large and the bed very comfortable. There was a large ballroom with a good dance floor and the spa area was also good. Hotel staff were generally very helpful and the shuttle bus to Funchal useful. Why only three stars? The bedroom furniture was either purchased on price or was designed by a man who does not stay in hotels for more than a night at a time. The only drawers were in the wardrobe, whose sliding doors were large, awkward to use and poor quality. You could not get into one side of the wardrobe without shifting all the ill-fitting doors. Accessing the drawers also meant sliding all doors completely to one side. If you then wanted to get to the safe, it was completely the reverse procedure. As we were dancing every morning and evening, ladies need many dresses, however, the wardrobes were not deep enough so clothes often caught on the doors. Enough of the wardrobes. There were two ill-matched bedside tables, neither of which had drawers, and if they had a number of the above issues would have been alleviated. The room had uncovered tea lights and incense sticks which are simply a fire hazard, yet no tea/coffee facilities or an iron. It was odd. The food was variable. A la carte excellent, buffet OK. Breakfast buffet very good, lunch OK and dinner just OK. Really poor selection of main meals for vegetarians. The hotel is near the airport, but the noise of the 'planes was not too bad. Definitely not a bad hotel, almost a good one.

The hotel is in an interesting location: walking distance from the airport, although it's not a nice walk. The hotel is built really well around the Santa Cruz bay and gives access to the rocky beach and a pier from which you can swim to other piers. The pool area is awesome. The hotel's nice and the staff is doing a lot to make it better. However, I have some gripes: * I was on the far end of the hotel. This is not a problem, but I had to come back down to the reception around 7 times because of a non-functional keycard. The fact that this was not solved after the 2nd or 3rd time really bugged me. * The breakfast is organized in a very silly way. The offering is really rich, but plates, glasses, and cutlery are hidden from the guests. Also, glasses are seldom replenished, so oftentimes I couldn't enjoy a glass of fruit juice or champagne in the morning, even though the bottle was staring right at me. * The beds are covered in one of those peeing mats, that make noise when you move. We removed it right away. Sure, it's a warm place, so guests will sweat, but that's no reason to give us baby beds. I was not asked at departure/checkout about my experience. I thought that was strange. The staff was otherwise helpful. I think complementary water would be a nice extra offering for guests.

Hotel is smart, clean and modern. Rooms are extremely comfortable. All staff were very polite and helpful. Santa Cruz is attractive and very quiet, but we knew that when we booked. Hotel is right on the beach, so rooms facing the sea are worthwhile. Yes hotel is very near the airport, so you need to enjoy planes flying very low over you, but it makes a change from seagulls!! Free minibus to Funchal is useful, but being out at Santa Cruz means any excursions involve extra time doing the same journey every time, which can get boring. Our only criticism was the cooking of nearly all the meat which was very bland. The chef must be given an allowance for seasoning and spices. Other than that there was always a wide choice of food with the salad bar being particularly good

To start with the holiday company ( well know one advertising on telly) staff had no idea or time for us. The hotel was clean and the staff ok but the food was awful and in the dining area was same place as they cooked most days was full of smoke, the all inclusive drinks got smaller and small as the days went on. We paid a lot of money for this holiday as it was a 4 star hotel, well no way was it worth the money.

We were originally booked to go to Menorca with Monarch but when holiday was cancelled found Vila Gale a week before travelling. We didn't particularly have a great view from our room but we didn't pay for a sea view so I suppose we couldn't expect a brilliant view. The resort is wonderful, so quiet. All the staff at the hotel are wonderful, and it is extremely clean and tidy. No problems with sunbeds loads are available. Only downside for me, as a veggie I found not much choice of food, and please get a new toaster, the worst I have ever seen in a hotel, it takes forever. First time to Madeira, and will definetly return, would certainly recommend this hotel, its amazing,
