I just returned from a 16 day holiday with my husband to this delightful hotel and I just loved every minute. From the moment we arrived till we left the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. It was a holiday to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and my 55th birthday and on arrival there was an iced bucket of champagne waiting for us in our room along with 2 delicious chocolate muffins. I must add that there was another bottle of champagne and chocolate cake delivered to our room on my birthday. The attention to detail was amazing. There are 9 different floors in the hotel, G = Gymnasium, S = Spa, 0 = Entrance to hotel and Shopping Centre, L = Lobby, 2, 3, 4 & 5 are four floors of hotel rooms which are colour coordinated according to the seasons, we were on floor 3 which was the purple coloured summer floor and T = Roof Top Pool & Bar. Our room was fantastic. We had a Grand Deluxe room and made use of all the facilities available. The mini bar was filled on arrival with free drinks, you only paid if you requested a refill. We are avid tea drinkers so we requested a kettle which was in our room when we got the key. There is a safe which works (not all hotels are so well equipped) and there was a push button system for the lights and blinds which took a bit of getting used to but when we did master it, we found it a really good system. There was a seperate toilet with bidet, a shower, a 2 persons bath (super romantic filled with bubbles) and a very large wash hand basin area with cascading water and a huge mirror. There was also a magnifying mirror with lighting which my husband found great for shaving. There is always plenty of bath and shower gel, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and soap on hand. The towels are huge and wonderfully soft, especially the pool towels and there were 2 sets of bath robes and slippers. There were 2 seperate wardrobes but not very many hangers, on the plus side there are automatic lights in the cupboards. There was also a desk area with 2 chairs and an LED TV with loads of channels including BBC Entertainment and a few film channels. There is a small French Balcony which faces on to the entrance below and some cafes. There's a vendor outside who sells fruit most days and a lovely cafe 'Opan' which sells lovely cakes, pastries, breads and coffees. Our room was cleaned every day and there was a turn down service in the evening with yummy chocolates, looked forward to that every evening! We booked bed and breakfast which was from 7am - 10:30am. The choice of food was more than ample. Hot food included fried or scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, hash browns, waffles, beans and toast. Cold food included 4 different cereals, selection of rolls and pastries, smoked salmon, salad, cheese and meat, fresh fruit, yoghurts, nuts, muesli and even chia seeds for the health buffs. There was a selection of fruit juices, pots of tea and coffee brought to your table and even champagne on ice for those who desire bubbles at breakfast time. The breakfast staff were so nice and I have to say a special thank you to Charles who greeted us with a smile every day and even wished me a Happy birthday. Thank you Charles! We didn't make use of either the gymnasium or the spa so I cannot review either, neither did we eat in the roof top restaurant. We did however make use of the pool area and the roof top bar. In one word FABULOUS! The pool area is a place to rest with a cocktail and and take a relaxing swim with a view of the surrounding mountainside of Funchal. There is also a jacuzzi pool but we never made use of that. At night this area is beautifully lit and the view of all the lights is superb. All in all a super 5* hotel and I would highly recommend it to everyone This is not a big hotel but a classy design hotel for couples. The attention to detail is amazing and the warm, friendly and romantic atmosphere very inviting. There were no families at all while we were there, the hotel is not suitable for children as there is no children's pool or play area. We hired a car and there is free parking available on site. The entrance to the underground garage can be accessed via a seperate lift. You pay a deposit of €10 for a parking ticket which is refunded when you hand the ticket back. Lastly I would just like to thank all the staff for making our holiday so special. You should be very proud of your wonderful establishment.
I booked this hotel as a birthday treat and I am so glad I did. The staff from check-in to check-out were lovely (particularly Charles) and the location was really central so easy to walk all the attractions. The bed was truly divine, I wish I could have brought it home with me! One of the best things was the mini-bar. You could have whatever was in there for free and then pay for extras. THE best thing was getting back to my room on my birthday and finding a birthday surprise of a bottle of bubbly and a slice of chocolate ganache which I thoroughly enjoyed. I would definitely stay here again.
Me and my girlfriend spent a week at the vine hotel it is a beautiful hotel the decor throughout was outstanding staff couldn't be more helpful if they tried. We both also had special dietary requirements which we let them know about before we arrived and they went above and beyond to cater for that by ensuring we had breakfast and also creating two off menu 4 course vegan meals which were lovely ! Fantastic location overall beautiful hotel, friendly and very service oriented would definitely stay here again. It's more of a boutique stylish 5 star hotel so if you prefer more traditional then maybe this isn't for you but for us - No faults at all. Excellent thank you for having us.
great, trendy hotel and very clean. We had a grand suite which was great. Really, really great staff very friendly and helpfull!! They are a great team! We would definitely like to come back!! A few points of improvement. - the parking for hotelguests is free but walking to the carpark is a bit of a labyrinth of hallways and the carpark stayed dark while walking to the car, only when the car moved did the lights turn on. - on the rooftop there is a skybar and a lovely restaurant, they have different music playing. Dining outside you hear both which isn't relaxing.
Our first experiance of this Hotel got it on an offer with Cumbria Travel. A Jet2 holiday. Very good Hotel central in the City. The staff are very good. We will return. Several items in the mini bar free. Beer soft drinks and water
Stayed at hotel in June 2017. Excellent room with views of harbour and mountains. Very central location and large modern shopping centre below hotel. Great breakfasts and very friendly staff who found no problem if you decided you wanted an ommelette or poached eggs instead of the vast choice on show. Hope to return soon.
very nice hotel, kind people, we had a wonderfull stay in the vine hotel. every morning we had breakfast in the garden en at night on the terras. including a very nice view with all the lights of the city.
My wife and I have visited this hotel twice in the space of six months. It’s very central so ideal for having a lovely relaxing stay in Funchal. The staff are extremely helpful and always greet you with a smile. In the morning, both the reception staff and the restaurant manager/staff know who you are and call you by your name. It's a nice touch and shows how much they try to look after you and see you as a person not just a customer. Because this was a special break for us, the hotel upgraded us to a suite which was very nice and again, very thoughtful. The rooms are all themed, modern and have everything you need. If you like tea or coffee in your room, the hotel will supply you a kettle etc. all free. Breakfast has a very nice choice of both hot and cold buffet food, cereals, bread and rolls, cheese, salmon, cakes, jams, fruit and fruit juice. So much choice and if you like omelettes or poached eggs, they'll rustle them up for you too. The rooftop bar with infinity pool is a nice area to relax, enjoy a snack or spend a while before you eat in the evening during happy hour. The bar staff serve some extremely good cocktails. I cannot fault this hotel and we enjoy it so much, we’ll be back there on our next visit to Madeira. If you’re looking for a modern, clean, efficient hotel with friendly and helpful staff in the centre of Funchal, then stay here.
Stayed here may 2017. Fantastic hotel in great location, staff excellent, welcoming, and nothing too much trouble. On checking in we found we had been given a double upgrade which was a surprise but very nice. Special mention for Rafael on the bar staff who knows his drinks + cocktails, a real credit to the hotel. Only grumble was the housekeeping staff kept taking the cups for the espresso machine away + not replacing them or the coffee pods. Also the curtains in the room were sagging down where people had pulled them spoiling the look of the room. Would definitely stay here again.
Great 5 star hotel in funchal. Rooms are spacious and very modern (a tad too much maybe) I can see some older folks getting some used to with the way the lighting works. That aside, everything is very luxurious. The rooftop bar and heated infinity pool are great and the view from there too. Definetly would recommend
