We stayed here for one week late October. A fabulous place. The apartment was amazing, very well equipped and very clean, amazing views over Funchal and the sea and fabulous sunsets! The staff were very helpful. We loved the pool, the games room and had a good few hours at the spa which is also excellent. The weather was also amazing, so in all, a fantastic stay.

We have just come back from a great week in Palheiro village . Lovely apartment 25 with everything we needed . A full length mirror would be useful though We hired a car and travelled a lot of the island , I feel a car is essential if you want to get up the very steep hills . We loved watching the cruise ships coming in and out . Would love to go again in the future

First let's get the obvious out the way.... Yes you really need a car if you want to stay here, although I'm told the bus runs frequently from the entrance if you have the thighs to walk down and up the hill. It's a short drive to Funchal and there is plenty of underground parking in the centre just look for the signs. We were in apartment 66, not sure it's actually what we would call an apartment as it was huge! Beautifully decorated with everything you need to have a great holiday. The views are amazing, but if you are lucky some of the apartments further along have uninterrupted views from downstairs and upstairs. If you arrive out of hours the security guard at the gate will sort out getting you into your room. The maids do a great job and come twice a week. The pool area is nice, great views and towels and beds are supplied and we never went short. We found the hotel restaurant to be rediculously expensive but the golf club was a little better. Head down into Funchal for the best food, La Vaca Negra is our absolute favourite if you want the best steak you've ever eaten! Chris' place was also very nice and all were cheaper than eating on the premises. Reception can hold your luggage until they close at 6pm if you have a later flight like we did and were really helpful. The only thing I would recommend to the property owners are, some furniture on the balconies outside the 2 bedrooms as at the moment they are just a bit of a waste of space, and apparently a full length mirror in the apartment somewhere would be really useful for the girls! Other than that, pretty much perfect! Thanks for a great holiday. Would love to return at some point in the future.

Super comfortable flats with everything we needed, there was even a small quantity of detergent for laundry machine so we didn't have to buy a whole packet! Showers with loads of pressure and very comfy beds, parking right beside the villa and friendly guards at gate. Sunset drinks on the veranda with that view of the moon sparkling on the sea were just perfect!

Huge apartment, beautifully appointed, very clean. Lovely views of Funchal and sunsets. Very quiet pool area, lots of sun beds, table tennis. Liked the Golf restaurant and the lovely Palheiro Gardens.Obviously you need a car at this location, and it is only a 10 minute drive into Funchal with easy multi storey parking in the old town.

Our Villa 36 was perfect for us in many ways. The location must arguably be one of the best for the panoramic views down to the harbour, far out to sea, Funchal and beyond. Our intention was to enjoy our freshly cooked evening meals on the verandah whilst enjoying the splendid views, which we did every day. The villa was furnished to a high standard with luxury quality bedding and a comfortable bed. The kitchen was also a dream to cook in, with plenty of cutlery, crockery etc supplied. Everywhere was thoroughly clean, thanks to the excellent housekeeping provided by the management. Although our car was useful for travel around the island, we used the bus No 38, so convenient just outside the main entrance to the village, on occasions to travel into Funchal. Good quality fish were purchased at the fish market. We also found a good butchers in Funchal. From the harbour whale and dolphin watching trips can be booked. The warm swimming pool was quiet and clean with fluffy clean complimentary towels provided. We enjoyed walks from our villa up to the tea house and to the luxury hotel close by. Then we walked a couple of the picturesque walks around the estate taking in the views on the way. We consider this holiday to be one of the best we have had due to the stunning location, beautiful villa and the great weather. We would not hesitate to recommend Palheiro Village to anyone considering a visit to Madeira.

Super property with stunning views especially at night, top quality white goods, plently of crocks and glasses, excellent staff. Very little to criticise at all, except maybe wifi coverage in downstairs bedrooms. Take the advice regarding walking as the hills are OUTRAGEOUS, and a diesel hire car is a sensible choice. Nowhere is too far for a drive out, and the local drivers are tolerant. Good choice of fresh everything in the supermarkets five minutes away.

20 mins drive from the airport Palheiro Village is very well appointed for AMAZING views of the city . You can sit on your balcony and look at the view whilst watching Kestrals flying and hovering nearby . The pool was heated and not to crowded . Plenty of comfortable sunbeds and towels available . The grounds and properties are kept immaculate . These villas are nearly , very nearly, as good as rooms in Four Seasons hotels . They are HUGE and extremely well stocked for home comforts . The kitchen was lovely and as well stocked, with equipment as my own kitchen . They are very clean and well maintained . Berds a bit hard but comfortable and the pillows were from The White Company - Lovely . You need to be pretty fit to walk the 45 degree road up to The Restaurant ( nearest food ) in the grounds . On our last night we wanted to go to the Restaurant and walked up there to be told that they stop cooking at 7.30 , which we thought was a bit too early . You get 10 % discount off the restauarant and admission to Palheiro Gardens if you stay here. Gardens were lovely . Disregard the reports of nearby restaurants within walking distance there aren't any . We taxied to Old Town each evening which costs between 11 and 16 euros each way . There is Sooo much choice in old town , Mozarts was our favourite . Most of the other restaurants served similar fare . If they say fish potatoes and veg . that is exactly what you get , no frills. Another lovely meal was in Tropicana -where I really enjoyed fish stew. The atmosphere in Old Town is lovely . You will be hassled to take a table but thev local;s are lovely and friendly and they appreciated an acknowledgement like " Thanks but not tonight " rather than being ignored . Lovely place for a break - HIGHLY RECOMMENED>

Palheiro Village not only offers scenic views of the surrounding but has so much beauty all around in terms of how the apartments are all laid out. Apartment itself is very spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend this a 100%!!

We've stayed in Madeira before, but truly enjoyed this gorgeous resort. Staff made stay a real pleasure - any little issues were resolved so quick and without fuss. Children loved the quiet pool and whole resort was peaceful and easy going.
