The Galomar hotel is located directly at the Atlantic ocean. The rooms have a lovely view to the sea, and they have a pool with direct access to the Atlantic. The beds are comfy, the rooms are very, very clean. the staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast offers many opportunities for every taste. I didn't gave 5 stars because of the noise in the evening. If you have a room with view to the sea, you will hear the musik of the hotel bar every evening from 9 pm till 10.30 pm. And it's so liud you nearly can talk to eack other while sitting on the lovely terrace and enjoying a warm evening. Further on the negative side: - no fridge in the rooms - not tea/coffe making facilities - WiFi access only in public areas

We went to Madeira in December and first of all it is a really amazing island that has a lot to offer. The Galomar hotel is very good and we really want to go back during the summer season to be able to utilize the facilities. The hotel has a lot to offer and there is always something to do. For example a diving center and a really big gym. The location is also really nice and the surroundings are beautiful. One small thing that I beleive the hotel should improve is room service. We ordered food to the room a couple of times and the quality of the food was not as good as when we visited their restaurants. For example there was no ketchup, mayo or mustard with our fries. Also when I ordered a ham and cheese toast the bread was not toasted and the butter was not spread out. But these are things that are easy to improve. Overall a really nice hotel with super friendly staff and a family atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Nice place. Close to ocean.. It is a bit far from the city and most places. BUT i like to be far from city. and For value, it was very good. The room was cold but I asked for blanket and I am happy they provided.Most of the staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was very good- I eat mainly salad and fruits, and it makes sense that they had options.

Stayed for 5 nights last week Place full of noisy and arrogant guests . Some of staff helpful, otherwise downright unfriendly and unhelpful . Breakfast noisy and pushy . Hard to find stable and hotel used cheapest industrial processed chesse, meat and bakery items they could find. Rooms were ok, view great but really better off looking for a nice villa in Madeira (plentiful and good value) We loved Madeira but would definitely not stay here again

This is the first time we rate a hotel for less than 3 out of 5, but this needs to be put out there because, in short, this place is a scam. The good: lots of facilities available around (since it's a resort), daily programs (music, yoga), close to a bus stop, close to shops, very diverse breakfast, nice views from the grounds of the hotel resort. The neutral: staff were professional and friendly but they seemed somehow... not genuine. I just didn't feel there was a connection there. Happens with most big hotels. The bad: is this supposed to be a 3 star hotel? Maybe 20 years ago. The mattress is hard and cheap, the pillows are hard too and my wife had trouble sleeping because of that. They have the cheapest doors ever (the one for the bathroom could hardly be closed and the one to the hallway was like non-existant: extremely poor noise & air insulation), the bathroom was clean but in need of renovation and there was bad smell. They only gave us one key for our room. This made logistics difficult because of the auto-locking entrance door to this building of the hotel (which is not their main so the reception is almost permanently unstaffed - we've never seen anybody there ever). The ugly: sound insulation is a joke. The windows are decent but thin. The room is on top of their kindergarden facility which means LOTS of noise in the morning and after-noon. As I said, it's like the room doesn't have a door at all. The walls are thin too. If you'd like to sleep during the day, you'd better not have problem with the circus going on everywhere. They have a safe but demand money PER DAY for using it. No free internet in the room unless you rent a router at a ridiculous price. Conclusion: this is definitely NOT a hotel that deserves 3 stars rating. 2 and a half, maybe. We would have given them a 2 out of 10 if not for their Director that managed to save face after an airport transfer mess. We got the feeling that the guests of the Galomar hotel are some sort of 2nd rate citizens of the resort (other hotels in this "Galomar" thing are 4 stars) . Fortunately, we ended our stay in Madeira at another hotel which happened to be much, MUCH better.

We stayed at the galomar hotel recently and cannot complain at all! It's the cheaper hotel in the galo resort complex and as such the rooms are a bit more dated than those at the galosol hotel, but we really didn't spend that much time in the room. Rooms were always clean but basic. Galomar close to the lido galomar and about a 2 min walk from the pool at the main hotel. Very close to Coperia bar and Atlantis restaurant. Lido galomar pool lovely sea water pool with steps right into the sea and good snorkelling off the rocks. Pool at the hotel lovely. Free use of gym at the hotel also which was well equipped for any time of gym work out. Breakfasts were fantastic All in all a lovely stay and cannot complain, definitely recommend!

The Team at the Atlantis restaurant offer exceptional service from the moment you arrive it's simply first class! The menu is beautifully presented, fresh Fish is of course the speciality from Sea Bream to Tuna and typical Maderian fish dishes you are spoilt for choice. The Hotel Manager David Andrade provided a excellent evening to mark our special occasion, thank you David! We thoroughly recommend this Hotel and restaurant, our family has visited for many years and love it here!

i booked one night and the adress given for the "galomar" is the adress of the main hotel with a better looking than Galomar. Galomar is supposed to be a 3*, but it's not even a one star hotel because so dirty and old. They have 3 hotels at the same adress, but they aren't located at the same place. For instance : breaskfast is at Galo resort and not at Galomar, so you have to walk. Also you don't have any parking : just the street but very difficult. No reception at Galomar : you checkin at Galo Resort. So my room was small, old and dirty - very very far from the pictures you can see on websites so they are cheating and Galomar hasn't been refurbished for years and it was a nightmare to sleep in such discusting hotel. Also the TV is "vintage" for the 80"s and there is no wifi at all at Galomar - you have to go to Galo resort - so an awful stay and a very bad staff (i was on internet before noon at Galo resort, and the manager came to me asking to pay my bill when the checkout time was not over) Also i checked the pictures on webiste (expedia) where i booked and without surprise there was pictures from others hotels. So it's a real scam : you choose your hotel on pictures supposed to be shooted at Galomar but it was from another hotel

The Hotel was constructed back in 1969 and rooms have been serviced ever since. But the general condition - especially the bathrooms - need a complete overhaul. The place itself is nice and offers a great view. Can be regarded as a nice hide away for some days.

I had a brilliant holiday and came home feeling relaxed and wonderful. I was on a health and fitness package: mountain biking, trail running, pilates, yoga and lots of treatments, swimming in the small indoor pool (it was February) and lots of gym classes. The fitness trainers were really good and had enough English to teach though classes mostly on Portuguese. The hotel staff were all helpful and friendly. There is a local bus into Funchal that takes about half an hour. The hotel offers a minibus up to the Lavada for jogging, three mornings a week. There a three restaurants, breakfast has lots of possibilities. The Capoiera (haven't checked spelling) Bar had live music three days a week and there were craft activities (though I didn't get the chance to do any). If you really want to sit on a lounger by a pool, you can do that too. There are amenities - wifi in the public areas, a health food shop in the gym, a cash point on site and a mini market and coop nearby. The bedroom was comfortable and had everything I needed, though the hairdryers in the gym were better.
