Large hotel with lobby on second floor of building. We came as a large group and entered via lift or stairs. Nice lobby with quick check in. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Supper and breakfast meals were good. I was concerned that there were homeless sleeping on the terrace??
As some people wrote..hotel is close to the train station in a weird area. Garage is small but worked for us. Staff was friendly and helpful! Rooms are sufficient but should be cleaned better (hair still on many spots). The house itself and the people around (we had a bunch of drug addicts underneath our window) are strange, but not to be complained when you book near a main train station. Breakfast ok but nothing spectacular. Bus to the centre us running right in front of the hotel. For us it served it's purpose to sleep in Lyon whole visiting the city.. For a romantic weekend or relaxing holidays, this should not be your choice ..
We have stayed in this hotel for our business trip in lyon are , we really apreciated the service quality that the hotel offers and definetly recommand this hotel for business. Although , there was nothing interesting in the area but well.
Fantastically convenient for the Part Dieu station. A typical Novotel. Clean, well maintained, very nice premises and well-appointed rooms (except for the lack of face cloths, which I find deplorable in any hotel chain). Check in was rather inefficient because we were served by somebody who must have been on his first day; he had to ask for help for almost everything. However, he was quite charming and his more experienced companion was very efficient and gave us a late check out as well. Buffet breakfast in the restaurant was very reasonably priced and more than adequate. Service was good as well. Recommended for those travelling by train, but not very convenient for Old Lyon and other tourist sites. Close to metro, tram and trolley bus routes.
This Novotel offers the same great service as others. But otherwise, I'll probably go back to the Ibis Styles that's just on the other side of the tracks at Part Dieu station. The breakfast offerings at Novotel were minimal, the air conditioner was extremely weak, there's a homeless encampment just outside of the bedroom windows, and there's no fitness center. I just kept asking myself why I didn't choose the Ibis since it's about the same, except that the ibis styles offers a free breakfast and is cheaper.
We stayed here for several nights on the way between Provence and Paris (train from Lyon). The hotel is perfectly sited for anyone taking the train out of Gare Part Dieu (right next door). The rooms are clean, reasonable sized and comfortable. The bar and restaurant are adequate though not great. Serves the purpose well for a downtown, primarily business hotel. "Room service" is very limited when the restaurant is not open (7 PM for dinner as common for French restaurants) which rather defeats the purpose of room service.
We enjoyed our one night stay at the Novotel in Part Dieu, Lyon and had a wonderful evening at the Ncafe restaurant, located in the hotel. The staff were courteous, friendly, kind and effecient. We were welcomed and shown to our table. I had Ricard, while my wife had champagne served with tasty nibbles and olives while we chose our main dish. Rump steak with a pepper sauce for myself, served with fries, drinking a good red rhone wine. My wife had chicken breast, fine french beans and mash. I had the Camembert cheese board to finish a very good meal. At all times the staff were very helpful to us and showed great care to the other diners. I say all this because I found it hard to find a review of the restaurant, seeing some only on the tripadvisor French site. I fully recommend this restaurant.
Polite and courteous reception staff who spoke English. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Very silent rooms at night. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast but perhaps different items on different days would be a plus. The room was too small for 4 persons: 2 adults and 2 children - the size of the room looked bigger on the photos on the website. My kids would have preferred 2 single beds. Otherwise good experience.
The hotel was chosen due to its proximity to the train station and good price. All expectations were met. The staff are doing their best, no claims. Novotel standards are well kept. Close to Lafayette Galleries and Les Halles de Lyon - Paul Bocuse.
The hotel is modern and clean and close to the tran station. About half hour walk to the city centre but heaps of food nearby and a large shopping mall. Only complaint was the construction work that started when we left the room at 10am and was still going when we came back for a short time at 4pm through till 7pm. Not sure if it was going all day and probably isn't an issue for most people but it was very loud, consistent and ran late. We didn't bother asking to move rooms as we only stayed 2 nights and are out and about most of the day. Everything else was enjoyable.
