Stopped off for one night in Lyon. We often choose B&B hotels as they are cheap and clean for a one-night stopover, but if possible will always try and find an independent hotel. This hotel has the air of faded grandeur, from the foyer and bar (with an incongruous 'black boy' statue standing behind the bar - very colonial!) it seems to have been quite an upmarket hotel once upon a time, but as we made our way up to the room, it gets shabbier. The 3 bed room was clean with a tiny but adequate shower room. Our room had a small balcony overlooking an interior courtyard, which at least meant we had no noise from the road. However once we went to bed we realised how poor the soundproofing was as we could hear a couple in the building next door talking throughout the night! The wifi worked but was slow. Seeing other reviews I'm glad we skipped breakfast at and astounding €9.50! If you do want breakfast I can recommend The Kitchen Café about a block away where they do excellent coffee and make the most fantastic cakes and brioche.

I spent almost a week at this hotel. I was on a business trip in Lyon. So, the hotel was chosen as the closest to the place of work. And I do not regret about my choice. The price policy of the hotel is more than reasonable. I was very surprised that in the 2-star hotels the room was cleaned and towels changed every day. There was a good Wi-Fi in the room. The hotel has an interesting location. On the good side, it located near the train station and public transport stop. Within walking distance can be found many tourist attractions and two big grocery stores. From the bad side, the area is a bit noisy and there are only cafes with oriental cuisine around the hotel. I can’t say anything about the restaurant in the hotel. There was a cafe with delicious food right in front of the hotel. But the Vietnamese mistress of this cafe did not speak English. It seems to me that she did not even know French. The hotel elevator has several doors. It's worth seeing. As extra information, I can say that it takes less than hour walk from the hotel to the train station. In this case, you have to bypass the station, because the doors are closed at night.

Old hotel, small rooms but clean and everything worked. Very good location, so for a hotel right downtown which is what I needed I felt I got what I paid for and was satisfied. The negative points were that the Wifi was no good for anything but emails and the breakfast coffee was absolutely terrible, otherwise no complaints.

In this hotel we had a good welcome, the bedrooms are confortable nevertheless the furniture is very old fashion. We did not like the breakfeast , no service , the bread was bad quality very hard, there is no service. Our advise avoid to have the breakfeast it is too expensive for a very poor service.

All in all a very nice hotel with friendly and english speaking staff! Loved the cozy and comfy old-school feeling of the reception and the room itself. Definitely worth your money when you're looking for an affordable hotel right next to the centrum of Lyon!

Cheap enough, but a rubbish area where the hotel is located. Room was ok (nothing like the pictures). Just a bath with a shower attachment. Nothing to hold the shower head up, and no shower curtain.... Also the cleaner just walked in on me at about 8am!!!! After a night on the drink and hoping for a lay in, I wasn't happy. Toilet cistern was also broken, which I fixed for them. Would not stay here again.

Hotel has WiFi but your guaranteed it wont work or they will tell you its been repaired. No air con in rooms making it unbearable. Rooms are basic and tiny and if you just want somewhere to put your luggage and lay down it does the job. Location is good but everything else is awful. Managed to get €90 off total price as we complained about the above so worth a try.

I really cannot understand why the drab horrible corridors cannot be revamped, it is such a depressing walk to the bedrooms. We stayed for one night as it was the only hotel we could find after attending football stadium. After reading reviews, I was not looking forward to staying here. The beds were clean and reasonably comfortable for one night. Bathroom was clean, very basic, nothing to entice you to come back. The area was not so nice but quite convenient. Wifi was fine.

shocking bed. not the best area. neon sign lighting up my room....couldn't open window then because of the bugs attracted to the light.get what you pay for. Lyon a nice place though and this is at least walking distance

We stayed here two nights during the Euro Football Championships. We regretted walking from Gare Part Dieu - it took us half an hour though some heavily populated streets. Much easier and quicker to get a taxi. The hotel itself has a decent sized foyer and we found reception quite friendly and efficient. The rooms were a decent size with a double bed although one of our party found himself in a single bed room. When booking the hotel notes the preference for a double bed but offer no guarantees on that. The wifi worked on the first evening but failed on the morning of day two. It was reinstated later in the day. Breakfast was ok with fresh bread, croissants, pastries, fresh fruit, cereals and drinks. There were enough restaurants to choose from close to the hotel which is within easy reach of the River Rhone. Overall this hotel offers unpretentious accommodation for a short stay at a reasonable price.
