Jolie Ville is brilliant. Spacy - there is plenty of space to give you a sense of quiet and peace. The food is fantastic and the staff are always friendly and polite. A great view over the Nile onto the Theban hills and it's very close to Karnak and Luxor temples. The extra touch we appreciated was that, after some confusion, Mr Namasi, the general manager got back to me within 3 minutes to clear the confusion. Personal touches like this are always well received. Thank you Jolie Ville!

In April 2018 a group of 16 of us stayed at the Jolie Ville in Luxor for the last 4 nights of our 14 night holiday. We spent the first 10 nights at the Mercure Karnak Luxor hotel (I have posted a separate review on the Mercure). We selected the Jolie Ville for the end of our holiday as I had stayed there 24 years ago and was interested to return to see how it had changed. Most members of our group have holidayed in Egypt once or twice a year for the last 10+ years, so we are well placed to provide an objective review of each hotel. Our impression of the Jolie Ville was rather mixed based on the following: The rooms – I was surprised to find that the small bungalow rooms were largely unchanged since my last visit 24 years ago. The furniture is now very dated and worn. The room walls are thin and we could clearly hear the TV in the room next door through the wall. There was also a large electric insect zapper outside our room on the small balcony which made a loud electric cracking noise every time it zapped an insect. It was zapping insects every few seconds throughout the night and we could clearly hear the noise from inside the room. The noise kept me awake at night. Frustratingly the on/ off switch for the zapper was broken. I reported this to an engineer who replaced the outside light which was also broken, but did not fix the on/off switch for the zapper ! The rooms at the Mercure were far better and much quieter than the Jolie Ville. The food – We stayed on a half board basis. Both breakfast and the evening meal were a buffet. There was a wide selection of food and the quality was good. A thumbs up ! The service - The bar and restaurant service was generally poor. The service was slow and most of the staff weren’t that friendly. Given that we were half board and therefore paying for all of our drinks and lunchtime snacks we expected the service to be better than the Mercure where we had stayed on an ‘all inclusive’ basis. However, this wasn’t the case. The service at the Mercure was far better. The hotel grounds – The grounds are very large with 3 different swimming pools. However, the interconnecting paths were worn with broken and uneven slabs. The gardens also looked rather tired. The grounds and gardens need some time and money spent on them. Value for money – It cost us around twice as much per day to stay at the Jolie Ville compared to the Mercure in Luxor (half board v all inclusive) and in my view it simply wasn’t worth the extra money. We won’t be returning to the Jolie Ville.

If you want to be in the middle of nature and sleep by 9pm this is a good place for you. Island itself is beautiful. Totally dead in the evening/nothing much going on in the hotel. Bungalows are cute but offer zero privacy due to their layout - people will be passing very close to your patio as that’s where the sidewalks are and the partition separating you from your neighbours is not a proper wall, you can see through. Also security guards with walkie-talkies are circling around the blocks day and night and keep watching everyone from shadows when it’s dark, it was weird. Probably they have problems with safety and security. Sleep quality is really good as the room is pitch dark and quiet. Dinner buffet has very limited choices and can not be compared to real 5* hotels but the food tasted good. New section with deluxe rooms looks rather like something out of Sharm El Sheikh brochure and doesn’t really fit with the architecture of bungalows and rest of the resort., it has very impersonal feeling about it. There was small number of guests even thought it was Easter holiday - mainly Egyptian families with very noisy kids, some old foreign couples and few old German women who have been coming there for the last 30 years.

I stayed for 4 nights in this incredible place and for the first time I really did not want to go home...neither me or my daughter. This place is really one of the most calming and beautiful places to stay in in Egypt. For the kids it was a blast and as any parent knows, if the kids are having fun so do we. Two huge infinity pools with a kid’s pool attached with a water playground, farming animals all around, a petting zoo, cozy boat rides on the Nile, endless beautiful gardens with big gras areas and it‘s all build so child friendly. The hotel is huge and is build on an island which gives you the option of amazing walks on the Nile with so much to see. The big boats passing, colourful lizards, beautiful birds and as a finale a cute little authentic village with warm hearted people and a lot of healthy animals. Since the hotel is so big you always have the option of being amongst people or get some quality time for yoga under the big trees or just a moment of silence listening to the birds and the nice wind blowing through the happy trees. The service is also excellent, everyone was kind helpful and so chilled. You feel it‘s like a big family that you belong to. The city with all it‘s attractions is a 10 min drive. It‘s just perfect...we are def. going back again and again and again.

It was my first visit to Luxor & couldn’t believe that we have such a beautiful place like this hotel. All the staff there is very friendly, decent & working hard to make your vacation unforgettable. I went with a big group of friends, we had a lot of kids & we all came back home with a big smile on our faces. This hotel is perfect for everyone, couples, family, friends & people who are looking for a relaxation and meditation. Can’t wait to arrange my second trip there. Big Thanks to the Hotel Management for everything they did to us.

This place is hands down the best resort I’ve stayed at. Whether it’s with your family or by yourself you will feel at home. The staff caters to all your needs and makes you feel welcome. The General Manager Mr. Namazi Mekawi is an absolute gem. He’s down to earth and won’t hesitate to help in any situation. I go a few times a year and can never get enough. Keep up the great work’nn

This was the second time we had stayed here, after an excellent visit last year for our golden wedding anniversary. We will certainly be going again next year. The rooms are in self-contained bungalows in small groups, set amongst beautiful gardens ,with hoopoes, egrets and other wild birds everywhere. The food is excellent; the staff are friendly and helpful. It is very peaceful, (mostly). There are several different restaurants, with outside tables overlooking the Nile. There are also sports facilities.

This hotel is in fact a complex of separate octagonal buildings, set in beautiful gardens. It is on Kings Island in the middle of the Nile, and therefore affords fabulous views of the banks of the river, while being peaceful, elegant and civilised. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge/road. There seemed to be two types of rooms: those in smaller octagons, the rooms being smaller but nearer the restaurants (and the river) and with a single sun lounger in addition to two chairs and a table on the terrace. There was also a fly zapper! Our room was further away and the octagons were two-storey, but the room was huge. There were two chairs and a table outside but no zapper. Perhaps only those rooms near the river needed them? In any case, we did not get bitten by mosquitos but U dd find the flies annoying! We were there in March. Even in March, it was HOT. In excess of 30 degrees. We are going back next year in February, so it may be slightly less hot. It is a fabulous location. There are excellent swimming pools, one adults-only, a bar on the bank of the island, plus a French, an Italian and a buffet restaurant. We ate only at the buffet one and found the food extremely satisfactory. We are vegetarian and had no problems with choice. I also have food allergies and the chef kindly made sure that there were choices to cater to my needs!!! The location is, strictly speaking, Thebes, but it is a 15 minute taxi ride to Luxor. The taxis are CHEAP. We also hired one for the day to takes to the Valley of the Kings and other places. About 12 euros!!!! Luxor is fabulous. We adored the Temples and the Museum. That is in fact what we went for and were not disappointed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The hotel is located on an island in the Nile. Lots of green areas and landscape. Food is ok but not wow. Pools and other facilities are very good. Staff is very helpful too. Try to find a renovated room while checking in.

Jolie Ville is my second home since 2004. The tranquility of the island, the beauty of the gardens, the uncommonly friendly staff and the excellent restaurant make your holiday a dream come true. A special thanks to Mr. Ahmed Salem for taking good care of the reservation and his high level of professionalism. Also many thanks to chef Amr Halawa for the exquisite food. For sure he is a 5 star chef ! Hope to be back soon !
