Luxor, the heart, soul and monumental fabric of modern civilization is certainly a quieter place than it was when we first started visiting many years ago. What is untouched is the warmth of the people at this idyllic oasis on the banks of the Nile, the attentive service and the spectacular red sunsets over the Valley of the Kings. My wife and I enjoyed a week there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were touched by the care and attentiveness of our old friends at the resort like Zak. The buffet dinners are a far cry from the Sheraton days and we went opted for the menu from the Indian and Italian restaurants which are superb. The highlight was having a romantic candle lit dinner in the Hotel's souk in the garden beside the Nile, truly magical. The concierge arranged a driver and tour guide to take us across to the Carter House Museum and Valley as it was too hot for our usual bicycle ride around the West Bank. The driver and guide were first class and reasonably priced. Sad to see so few visitors at the historic sites though it does mean you have pretty much exclusive access to these iconic venues. Do visit and stay at this wonderful hotel, just be mindful the City and people are experiencing difficult times. They will do their best to make your stay magical, just ask.

I was a little apprehensive that Achti Resort may not have been as good as Sheraton Resort which was its previous name before being taken over! I need not have worried! The building is still maintained to a very high level. This cannot be said of similar hotels in Luxor; due to a decline of visitors I can only assume that some staff have been laid off. There is, therefore, no one to keep the hotels clean. Even reception areas are left unswept and dusty. However, Achti Resort is not like this! I mentioned this to the most helpful young duty receptionist and she simply replied, "We care!" And they do; all the staff do! I have been using this same hotel for approximately 20 years and have always been very happy with my stay, be it a few days or a few weeks. Many of the staff have been there since I first visited and remember my previous visits and welcome me on my return. I always choose a Nile view room and I am sure there is not a better view of the River Nile from any other balcony in the whole of Luxor! The room has every amenity and is kept immaculately clean. The waiters go out of their way to provide superb service, albeit at Egyptian speed. I'm pleased to say that the hotel was a little busier than on my previous visit some 16 months earlier; Egypt needs tourists to return and they are well looked after at Achti Resort!

Hotel was just as before even same staff, made. To feel very welcome, remembered by many staff. Receptionist very helpful, gave us the room we requested, very clean sheets changed daily. Beautiful view overlooking the Nile, free WI Fi... Had lunch on terrace good food and service, enjoyed our time there lazing around the pool, and so pleased Ahmed pool an was still there, taking care of everyone. This hotel is great

We Stayed here as a family and really enjoyed the resort. We stayed in the Jr suite which sits in the corner with wrap around deck/balconies overlooking the Nile and pools. The view was remarkable. You can walk down to the Nile and go for a boat ride in a felucca as well. There is a shopping area out front and the food was quite good.

Very pleasantly surprised by Achti Resort. Welcoming staff and now like a lot of hotels, it has security screening of baggage on arrival. Reasonable size twin bedroom with balcony. The bathroom we had was a tad small and missing some toiletries and maybe a towel and I think some items tea bags /coffee sachets in the refreshment area. But that was addressed very quickly when reception contacted. A walk around the hotel revealed a very attractive pool area and garden overlooking the Nile and quite a number of guests enjoying the facility. We dined in the hotel and the buffet was very satisfactory, especially the desserts. We stayed here as part our visit to Karnak, the Valley of Kings and the Temple of Luxor, but could well contemplate a relaxing visit to Achti Resort just for itself. I would be remiss if I did not pay tribute to the helpfulness of the hotel staff, both generally and in the dining room. Will try to visit again.

Achti Resort is a quiet oasis located just at the edge of Luxor. Most other properties are inside the city itself, so it is never a true getaway. Achti is has tree shaded walkways and flowers, sprawling lawns, and direct access to the Nile. The view from our bungalow window was to die for. When I walked into the room, I was so pleased with the accommodations that I accepted it immediately----that doesn't always happen. The comfortable and classy layout of the room was perfect for our small family of three. We enjoyed the resort in the early mornings around 5:30 when we could watch the hot air balloons float over the Nile. We would eat the filling (but not fussy) buffet as soon after 7:00 as possible and then head out for exploring. Upon returning, we would catch a swim before the pool closed at 5:00. A full day! The dinner buffet started at 6:00 and I should have added it on as an option. We also enjoyed a dinner from the Indian food menu---but not in the separate restaurant for it (since that is no longer open). Likewise, we loved the vegetarian pizza at the Italian restaurant. The place was quiet at night and we slept very well. After seven years of trips around Egypt, this resort was the best fit for our family.

The hotel facade is a little dated and parts of the interior are a little worn with time. but the room is huge, nice interior, very comfy beds and the bathroom is sizable too. For the price we paid, it is definitely value for money. The staff are very helpful and courteous, and go out of their way to assist us. We stayed at the pool view bungalow, and the friendly pool caretaker made effort to make sure our time at the pool is enjoyable. And also, the location overlooks the West Bank and has the most breathtaking sunset ever. Cons: Besides the restaurants in the hotel, there aren't many options within the vicinity of the hotel without a cab ride. We stayed at the bungalow area and have to walk past rows of shops everyday, and some times the vendors would try to hustle. The same right on the river bank on the hotel property with the felucca captains, which kind of spoils it when we tried to enjoy the sunset. And the hustling continues outside of the property with cab drivers and rows of horse carriages who pester non-stop.

Once again I have returned to Achti resort Luxor (former Sheraton) Where the staff look after you very well, and I now call them my family.Because they treat me as family & I treat them as family.I always ask about their children and how they are getting on.So my thanks to the managers ,reception staff , restaurant staff and Pool staff. The views from the hotel are just wonderful especially as you can also see the west bank.Unfortunately there are not many tourists around, But Luxor is safe and there are wonderful things to see such as the musuem . I travel solo but have no problems at all.

Perfect location for all the sightseeing we had set up to do. Room right on the Nile. Breakfast was a large selection of all the favorites: eggs to order, bakery, fruits. Packed breakfast for us on morning when we had early morning flight out. Friendly and helpful staff. Italian restaurant on property was so good we ate there two nights. Felt safe.
