This was my 4th stay at this particular hotel and will no doubt be back for many more. The pre-arrival online check in meant the room key was made available as soon as we arrived. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Petrus Valley view room which was very nice. The service in the bar was a little slow but didn't cause too many issues. The view from the bar at sunset though is amazing! The central location of the hotel is great as it is only 10 minutes walk from the old town so easy to see all the tourist locations but also near the business district. Breakfast served on the top floor was buffet style and tasty and dinner was delicious, we arrived just as the restaurant opened so got a good choice of tables
One night stay - very comfortable room and the best bed. Great variety of breakfast foods including paleo bread.Good view from room over Grund. Decor a little dated with pastel colored bubbles theme. Handy for bus to airport with stop right outside.
Service upon arrival was very warm and welcoming. Valet parking, the tips where to go of the hotel staff gave. And the room very nice... best of all was the bed! The bed was fantastic! But the cocktails were not in de nice roof bar. Very pricey but absurd! And on top of it the drinks we’re terrible... we tried 2 each and the taste was horrible. And the bill was €80! So that was a true disappointment and waste of money.
Not the best example of the, otherwise, usually great Sofitels. Sure; the location is very good and the views from the bar must be the best you have from any hotel in Luxembourg. The bar decor and bar menu is great too. Staff very professional but, unfortunately, no more than that. it's all a bit, well, robotic - well trained but little personality. The rooms are nice but really on the small side. Service in the bar was really slow. 6 guests and 2 staff but it still took a good 15 minutes to get a drink. Why? The restaurant is (very?) good but it is also very pricey. Our dinner for 4 people cost quite a bit more than our 2 rooms whilst the food was (very?) good but no more. Even in pricey Luxembourg you can do a lot better in quite a few of the top restaurants. All in all not really good value for your money and behind expectations. Shame.
We stayed for one night with our 10 month old baby. It was a great sized room (great when travelling with children). They had a baby cot left in the room and they remembered to include a baby bath in the bathroom along with baby shampoo/babywash etc. It was a lovely touch! Thank you Sofitel Lux - We hope to come back and visit :-)
Nice hotel , BEAUTIFUL location with FANTASTIC view of the old & new city , Very comfortable rooms , excellent & friendly service , very nice breakfast on the top floor with the superb view of the city, it is also a beautiful place to enjoy a coffee or an afternoon drink
This is purported to be the top hotel in Luxembourg. When we arrived we were informed that the restaurant was being redone and all food service was in the bar. Supposedly we would get a discount for the inconvenience. Our breakfast was $30 per person for a very average buffet. The weather was unseasonably cold and we attempted to turn up the heat. We were informed that it was too soon for the hotel to offer heat. The heated towel rack of course didn't work. After multiple complaints they provided a space heater. The hotel itself was beautiful and the staff tried but I recommend anywhere else.
Great location close to city centre and easy access to the airport via bus stop outside. Room was lovely and staff were excellent notably Pauline. A little bit on the expensive side for what you get buy for a short trip this is a great option.
As a Platinum Accor card holder, I often stay in Sofitels. This was not one of my better stays. We got an upgrade on arrival to room 606. The room was large and very comfortable, and the shower was first class – one of the best hotel showers ever. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were as you’d expect from a hotel of this calibre. The concierge service was also excellent – friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The restaurant was being refurbished but a small part of the bar had been set aside for dining. In the end, the bar itself put me off dining here. I live in London and so am very used to high prices for drinks in high-end establishments … but never would I pay €110 for a bottle of bog standard NV Veuve Clicquot! You get really decent artisanal Champagnes for this price at Marcus Wareing or in the Savoy. And nor will I pay €24 for single measure of a semi-decent gin. My stay in Room 606 was a short one. Having been travelling for almost a month, we’d not got anything planned for the following day and so (after a boozy meal at the excellent Restaurant Cyrano) we set the alarm for 9 am. At 7:10 am a circular saw started, soon followed by hammering, above us (doubtless as part of the restaurant refurbishment). I asked to be moved to a quieter room, which was done without fuss but without much of an apology. Room 208 was no longer of the ungraded variety and had a very strong, slightly unpleased smell of some sort of cleaning material. However, we only had one more night here and so stuck with it.
A beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Walking distance from most of the key tourist areas. The staff were really lovely and helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean and a good size - it was a bit of a surprise to find the shower in the middle of the room. I haven't given the rating that this hotel is probably due, as the bar and restaurant were closed for refurbishment. My top tip is that the number 29 bus between the airport and hotel, stops just outside!
