Stayed with husband and 2 year old son in a family room- upgraded to a larger executive version (bathrobes, minibar etc) when offered, for very little €. Staff couldn't do enough for us to make us feel welcome, particularly my little boy. Incredibly helpful in directing us to the key sights for our short overnight stay. We actually ended up enjoying most of the next morning in the city too as it was really lovely and we wanted to enjoy more of our overnight stop off in what actually turned it to be a fantastic city with gorgeous views.
Good Hotel, well located within easy walking distance the old city and easy to access business districts using public transport. Rooms were comfortable and clean and had good aircon. Bed was on the soft side, maybe not somewhere for those looking for a firm mattress. Certainly a business hotel mid week anyway. Bar/Restaurant area was a little soulless. Only complaint was the breakfast. Despite paying for "Executive" room - breakfast wasn't included in the price. If it had been included in the price it might have been acceptable, but at €20 extra per day on top of the room rate, the basic self service options on offer left quite a bit to be desired. Nicer and a fraction of the price to pick up something elsewhere.
Quick summary: Good location with nearby car parking. On the expensive side - but no different to anywhere else in Luxembourg. We had one night in Luxembourg on our way driving from Germany to France. We deliberately chose a location close to the old town and Novotel delivered on that. We greatly enjoyed leaving the car and being able to walk around (noting that pretty much everywhere involves walking up or down a hill). We also chose it because it has air conditioning and, in our experience, this is not common in European hotels. It was a warm summer night and the aircon definitely came in handy for two jetlagged travellers who needed sleep. I can see that other recent travellers have commented on staff rudeness, but this was not our experience. I did notice that the hotel typically seems to cater to the business traveller. This possibly explains why staff handled everything with perfect efficiency (rather than warmth) - but at no time were we treated poorly. The car parking (underneath the hotel) has spaces reserved for hotel guests, so we had no problems finding a spot. The car park is not owned by the hotel but they can offer good rates for longer stays. For short stays, you're better off paying the car park directly. The room itself was perfectly adequate. We were there to get out of the room and see 'the balcony of Europe', so we didn't spend much time there. I do recall lots of natural light, but enough glazing to keep out the noise. There was no view (for that you'd need to stay at the Sofitel next door) but the facilities were just fine for our one night stay. A note of caution. We did go for a walk in the evening towards the main train station. It would be a useful jaunt for anyone needing shops (clothing, pharmacy, small supermarket etc) or restaurants, but some of the side streets were distinctly dark and seedy. Stick to the main, well-lit roads and keep enjoying Luxembourg! I use TripAdvisor to help plan my trips and I enjoy returning the favour. Please let me know if you found this review helpful.
Stayed here in July for 4 days while we explored Luxembourg and surrounding areas. Pros Comfortable room Accessible to city centre Good breakfast Cons Expensive bar/room service Rooms small very limited clothing space draws/wardrobe Be careful when orderingroom service- we got over charges for items we did not order - water fruit etc Some lovely areas to visit and local transport links are excellent.
A nice place with a convenient location, it was unfortunately let down by an incredibly rude receptionist and poor customer service. We booked via the Novotel website, which allowed us to book a room for 4 adults. However, when we turned up, we were firstly informed that hotel policy didn't allow 4 adults in one room, and then accused of lying about having been able to book said 4-adult reservation. It was implied we were trying to "cheat" our way into a cheaper visit. (We were clearly a group of young professionals and all wearing suits.) Even when we showed proof of our 4x man website booking, the only response was a refusal to give us a room, and a refusal to give a refund, essentially meaning we had no choice but to buy a second room. We insisted on speaking to the manager and eventually got the second room half price, but it took a lot of effort, the manager was not remotely accommodating and we would have obviously gone elsewhere had we known how we'd be treated. Having said that, the hotel was nice and well-maintained, the location was ideal for visiting the city centre and we enjoyed ourselves once the initial shock of our treatment wore off. I'd advise anyone planning to stay here to be wary about using the website to make a booking. Needless to say, I doubt any of our group intend on returning.
I've written a lot of reviews, all positive, so it stinks that I have to write a bad one. Unfortunately, this hotel & it's staff member, Albert, ruined my experience with Novotel. I would rather cancel my reservation & lose the money than have to deal with them again.
Often in Luxembourg city it is difficult to find a room in any hotel. Never understood why this happens so often. The Novotel Luxembourg Centre is one of my favourites. The service is excellent, the rooms big enough, the breakfast very good, the price reasonable and the location very convenient. The personnel very cordial and transpiring excellent training. I will keep going back
Spent 1 night in Luxembourg and pleasantly surprised by the Novotel. Greeting in reception was friendly and efficient and they immediately sent someone up to set up the sofa bed for the children. Even with this out the room was spacious. Room was comfortable and quiet. Locational wise it was about a 10-15 minute walk into the city. We were expecting to pay 26 Euros for the self parking which is located underneath the hotel, which is the rate the hotel charge for a day, however reception advised us to check the hourly rate - this is much cheaper between 5pm and 7am so we ended up paying 18.70. We booked through hotels.com and paid the extra to include breakfast which added £20 to my booking but would have been 20 Euros each so definitely worth it - and it exceeded expectations with a good selection of offerings. Would definitely recommend for a stop over.
We stayed in this hotel for two nights and really enjoyed it. Front desk assistance is impecable in 3 languages and the room is spacious and clean. Breakfast is not included, but it is worth the price: it is lavish! Last but not least, it is walking distance from the train station! And from the old town as well.
Just a 10mins walk to Luxembourg train station. Room is really spacious! Breakfast is good with a variety to choose from. We started our day by walking to the city Centre to visit the new and old town, it's just a 15mins walk. Enjoy the sights while walking there 😊
