Hi! We live in Luray, own the coffee shop downtown, hiked most of the trails on both mountain ranges and can connect you with whatever you need. If there’s any issues, we’re always nearby.
Since we live here, we’ve chosen properties in the best locations, depending on what experience you want to have. We are long-time SuperHosts and hope you'll read through our 5-star reviews to be confident in your booking.

The Apartment: Built in 1928, the Hawksbill is a solid brick building that has a long history as a downtown anchor (started as a Speakeasy).
The second floor apartment was used as living quarters for various shop keepers. Over a year's time, we gutted and modernized the space to build in some serious comfort. All the original, vintage oak floors and pine doors were salvaged and lovingly refinished.
You get the entire floor with a huge living room, separate dining room/bar, three bedrooms, and a newly renovated bathroom. Be aware that there is a stairway that you must climb to get into the apartment.
The apartment overlooks the Hawksbill Creek in the center of downtown. You are a block away from several restaurants and the Luray Greenway that's a perfect place to walk your dog, wear out the kids or meet your daily exercise goals.
Living Room: This large sunny room is the place to hang out with family and friends on big couches and comfortable loungy chairs. Enjoy fast Wifi throughout the property. You can watch Netflix on the new 55" Sony flatscreen or connect to your streaming service subscription of choice.
For music, connect to our a bluetooth speaker system to play any music on your phone. Or disconnect and have fun playing board games and playing cards we provide.
Dining Room and Bar: The large farm table seats six comfortably with room for two extra chairs. We're proud of the built-in bar where you can make coffee in the morning or fix drinks at night. There's a beer/ wine fridge along with different tools to experiment making cocktails.
Coffee. We love it! So we provide a couple different ways to make coffee. We have a Bonavita drip machine with a reusable, washable filer. Or you can use the large glass french press. We provide Broad Porch ground coffee (roasted by us right here in Luray!), sugar (and non-sugar sweeteners), creamer. If you bring your own beans, there's a grinder provided. Enjoy a variety of different tea bags as well because tea is good too.
Bedrooms: The apartment can sleep up to six people in three bedrooms, but also perfect for a couple who want a quiet getaway. We gladly provide all bed linens, towels and pillows.
Each bedroom is a separate room with a door that closes. The back bedroom has a Queen Bed with the best view of the creek. The second bedroom has a Queen Bed that comfortably sleeps two. The third bedroom has two adult bunk beds with Twin XL mattresses, hand built out of solid pine beams from an old, local barn.
Each bedroom can control its own LG split system for AC and heat. All windows have black out curtains so sleeping late is easy.
Bathroom: The bathroom has a tiled shower and Americast soaking tub. Enjoy strong water pressure and hot water. Plenty of space for everyone to store their toiletries. Bath and Beach towels are provided.
Kitchen: The European style kitchen has the space and equipment to make a snack or cook a full Thanksgiving dinner. All new appliances, including a dishwasher, because who wants to hand wash dishes on vacation. Included are a blender, crock pot/slow cooker, pots, pans, dishes and all utensils.
If you need anything we don’t have, we'll do our best to accommodate. We provide a lot of "starter stuff" so guests don't have to over-buy for short stays (condiments, spices, cooking oil, bug repellent, etc).
Kid stuff: Because you're probably traveling with enough stuff already, we do have a high chair, a Pak n' Play, and plastic eating dishes for small kids. Just let us know if there's an infant in your group so we can have everything ready for your arrival.
Parking: Luray is a quiet town and has no parking enforcement. All street parking is free and unmetered so you can park right in front of the apartment. There are also four free public lots within a block if needed. See the map we include in the listing photos. There is a free Level 2 charger for your electric car just two blocks away. It's rarely used so you could power overnight without issues.
Renewable Power and recycling: We buy 100% renewable power from our local electric coop (SVEC), which buys the power from Stony Creek Wind Farm. We'll take care of your recycling when you use the bin in the apartment.
The apartment is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and space to spread out with 3 bedrooms and a dining area. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a coffee maker, an ironing board, and a travel crib.

We so enjoyed our stay at Luray Modern. It had everything we needed and more. I mean they go above and beyond, they even had things like makeup remover wipes and dog treats. I know that seems like simple stuff but it’s very appreciated. Being above the coffee shop made mornings so easy for coffee and breakfast we had it everyday of our stay. Also being next to the Hawksbill Greenway was great for our dogs and we were so excited to find a pet friendly place to stay. My husband brought his fishing poles and we fished in the creek everyday. We even caught some trout to bring home. The hosts were very easy to communicate however we didn’t really need to communicate with them because everything was perfect. The apartment is also very centrally located and we were able to walk to most restaurants and stores. Overall we loved staying at Luray Modern! Highly recommend!!

Relaxing Thanksgiving holiday get-away with the family. Who wouldn't want to stay above a coffee shop! The layout of the place was great. The place was clean, right on main street, and walking distance from cute shops and restaurants. Great area for walking trails as well. We traveled with our two kids, our dog, and nanny. Luray Caverns was minutes away. No complaints. Parking wasn't an issue even with a huge vehicle. The hosts were friendly, responsive, and informative.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Luray Modern Historic Apartment! The space had such a warm, homey vibe, beautifully decorated with thoughtful attention to detail. The coffee bar was one of our favorite touches, stocked with Broad Porch Coffee, which we enjoyed every morning.The location couldn’t have been better, right above the Broad Porch Coffee Shop and just steps away from the 2-mile Greenway Creek Trail, which was perfect since we brought our Lab along. It was also a quick drive to Shenandoah National Park, the main reason for our trip.We only got to visit the coffee shop itself the morning we checked out (we were always gone hiking before it opened and back after it closed!), but it was such a charming spot. We liked the coffee so much we bought a bag to take home. We’d absolutely recommend this rental and would love to stay here again on our next visit to Luray!

Great weekend getaway!
Cozy and clean, this rental is centrally located to Shenandoah National Park, Luray Caverns, River outfitters and all the cute downtown shops and restaurants. Being above Broad-porch cafe added excellent coffee and pastries to each morning. Hosts had great communication and even went above and beyond when we left an item behind. Highly recommend!

Great dog-friendly apartment in Luray
The apartment is exactly what it appears in the photos: modern with all the conveniences, but very homey and comfortable. We felt immediately at home. The views from the second floor along the creek, the bridge and Main Street really livened up our stay. We and our dog appreciated the Greenway walks along the creek, just steps from the front door.

Beautiful Apartment, Charming Location
We are very charmed by this beautiful apartment and charming town. The greenway walk was a perfect way to start and end our days. The view from the apartment of the bridge and the creek and the town was so nice.
This apartment is just as advertised. Everything you need for your stay, beautifully decorated and super clean. Within a quick drive we rode ATV’s, Zip Lined, went to the Caverns and got wonderful massages. We were also going to go tubing on the river but we got rained out.
We highly recommend this apartment, this town and these owners!

My family and I had a lovely time at this apartment despite the cold, rainy holiday weekend. The living area is very comfortable and we could spread out. We had everything we needed and would definitely stay there again! It was great being able to walk to all of the shops and restaurants.

Perfect Mountain Setting!
The apartment was lovely! It was beautifully decorated and well-stocked in a wonderful downtown setting. Several restaurants and other attractions were minutes away on foot, and the mountains and caverns were only a short drive. We would absolutely choose to stay here again on any return trips!

The apartment was perfect for our Shenandoah hiking/biking trip. The rooms are light, airy, modern and clean - plenty of space to spread out and relax (lots of art and interesting books to read).. The owners have thought of everything, from a fully equipped kitchen, towels, sheets etc to umbrellas, bluetooth speakers, apple tv and phone chargers. The owners were super helpful and even let us store our bikes in another of their properties nearby. Highly recommend.
