We left there bronzed and totally relaxed
When we return to Sardinia this is the place we will come back to. Two large bedrooms, a cosy living room in tranquil surroundings tucked away in a valley.Charming helpful hosts.
Great birdwatching with owls and hoopoes. A very friendly cat to keep you company and a garden to sit in .Quiet beaches, walks and interesting villages within easy distance.
We left there bronzed and totally relaxed.

Beautiful stone cottage in peaceful location and stunning countryside with fantastic nearby beaches
We are a family of four, with two young children. The cottage was perfect for us. It was very cool during the day. Our children enjoyed climbing on the rocks and exploring the vast grounds. In fact, our children staged a sit in and refused to leave, they loved it so much.
We really enjoyed family meals outside under the shade, and the space and peace of the large gardens.
Marzia was extremely helpful and informative. She had lots of useful suggestions for us, and we loved the nearby beaches she recommended. We also all appreciated the local produce she generously gave to us, including figs, almonds and eggs.
The cottage is in a perfect location, and was an ideal base to explore the area. Though we did find it hard to drag ourselves out as the cottage is such a perfect place to be.
Thank you very much for such a perfect stay. We would love to return, and will recommend you to everyone!
We spent 14 days as a family on the property.
The house is situated on a quiet hill next to Luogosanto. There are not many houses around, but lots of nature. The house is sourrounded by a large property with natural rocks where you have a phenomenal view at sundown over the valley. Lots of animals around.
Booking & Communication with Marzia who speaks very good english was easy.
You've got everything you need in the house for a basic good time. No dishwasher, but cloth washing machine. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a small double bed, one with a larger double bed and a single bed. The beds could be more comfortable but are ok. Enough towels were provided. The bathroom has has a shower, a bidet and a toilet of course, water is warm. The kitchen is well equipped, the oven runs with gas. Some ants run around but did not bother us much.
it is a 10 min drive to Luogosanto, a 30 min drive to Santa Theresa, a 50 min drive to Olbia. Quiet rocky beaches can be reached in 30-40 min (Portobello, Santa Reparata, Palau) We can recommend the pizzereria in the next village (Jama 7,5 in Bassacutena).
If you like countryside & nature, this is the place to be. Marzia is fantastic and we had great time. Property is amazing. Do not expect anything fancy but perfect match with outdoor/nature life. Pitty we booked only for a week.

A pleasant stay
The property was clean and spacious. It had a very pleasant location and the resident wall lizards and geckos were a constant source of interest. Firecrests and Cirl buntings were regular garden visitors and a Bonelli's eagle also put in an appearance. Luogosanto and local beaches were easily accessible. Marzia was very friendly and a good source of information and assistance and some wonderful preserves.
The meal prepared by Agostina and the eggs from neighbour Margarita are both heartily recommended.
As a couple with poor backs, the addition of comfortable armchairs in the living room would have improved the comfort of our stay significantly. The provision of a microwave would also be welcome. The trek to obtain drinking water was a bit of a bind.

Fantastic!
Since Stazzo Chivoni was fully booked Leo was so kind to arrange another country house in the neighbourhood, Stazzo Luciana. A beautifully renovated old farm house with thick walls that kept us cool in the Sardinian summer heat.
The house offered us complete privacy (nr 1 priority to us!) as is has its own approach from the main road and is surrounded by 10.000 m2 of wild nature.
Thanks to the information of Leo and Marzia we visited local markets in nearby villages and bought beautiful Sardinian ingredients. We love the Sardinian food and we love cooking! So we were pleasantly surprised to find THE standard cook book on Sardinian cooking on the book shelf in the house. We had a fantastic week, thank you Leo and Marzia!

Very Disapointing - much room for improvement
This property could be fantastic - BUT it most definitely is not. The space and views are excellent but the standard of furnishing is appalling. Don't be fooled by the pictures - many relate to the associated B&B property and many items of furniture shown are no longer present. A number of ther reviews relate to either the B&B property (200 yards up the road) or another house managed by the same couple. The majority of the furniture in the house (bedside tables, bed frames , wardrobes, kitchen storage unit and outside table etc etc) is made of 8 x 2 planks where the only tools used in their construction are a hammer and nails. The garden furniture is truly disgraceful - comprising a cheap deckchair and two cheap fabric chairs one tied together with string and the other where the frame has come right through the fabric making it useless. The outside area immediately around the house comprises dust and weeds and no attempt has been made to provide an attractive area to sit out. Anyone attempting to cook a proper meal in the kitchen would find it a real challenge - the cooker is tiny and there are absolutely no adjacent work surfaces. Even in September the house was cold and felt damp but if you are of masochistic tendencies you will love it here.
Everything is done in the worst possible taste and with the least possible cost and it shows.

A warm and friendly welcome
You will not meet more friendly and accommodating owners than Leo and Marzia.
Nothing is too much trouble for them and they even invited us to a traditional feast with 1000 locals in a field where we witnessed an unforgettable demonstration of formation dancing to traditional Sardinian folk tunes.
As Stazzo Chivoni - which is a beautiful house - was unavailable, we stayed in one of the other houses Leo manages - La Finosa. We also met the people staying at Stazzo Chivoni and they absolutely loved it.
We stay all over Europe in rented accomodation booked through Owners Direct but can safely say that we've never felt so welcome and been so well looked after.
La Finosa is an absolutely stunning house which we would recommend to anyone.
The information provided by Leo regarding the local area was invaluable and we used it on almost every day of our two week trip to explore the local area and find the best beaches.
An amazing island and a wonderful welcome.
Thank you Leo and Marzia and thank you Sardinia.
Unforgettable.

Gorgeous rural retreat
We spent two weeks with our three children (pre-teen and teenage) at Stazzo Chivoni and would happily have stayed longer. The house was clean, cool and blissfully mosquito free at night. It is simply furnished but with everything we needed, although cooking facilities were a little limited. The outdoor solar shower was fantastic and the views from the terrace sublime. As long as you don't mind a bit of driving to get to beaches, this house is perfect, we explored lots of the coast thanks to Leo and Marzia's very detailed directions to out of the way beachs we might never have otherwise found. A truely relaxing holiday, wifi and tv free, we hope to be back.

The perfect honeymoon ...
My (now) wife and I spent a week at Stazzo Chivoni in late July/ early August, and in short we had the most relaxing and peaceful week off in the most perfect and secluded accommodation anybody could ask for. In fact, we are strongly considering upping sticks to Sardinia as a result!
The owners (Leo and Marzina) usually live in one end of the farmhouse property, which they have lovingly restored and developed. This year we were the lucky couple who had the property to ourselves for the week whilst Leo and Marzina had a mini-break.
If it's a secluded farm house with a beautiful garden, surrounded by olive groves, rolling countryside and a 30 mins scenic drive from the nearest beach you are looking for then you will find no better place in north Sardinia - FACT! More highlights are the resident cat Gattis, optional outdoor kitchen and outdoor shower, and the many fragrant aromas that linger from the many herbs and plants surrounding the farm house.
The vision and product of Leo and Marzina's efforts is truly admirable, we had a wonderful stay at Stazzo Chivoni and can only hope that we return one day!
I would also like to add that Leo was particularly helpful resolving a parking ticket issue we had post holiday, they really went out of their way in giving us the perfect honeymoon.
Thanks again! Tom and Laura xxx

Beautiful countryside far from tourism
We spent a lovely week in this comfortable and beautiful house with a large garden and beautiful view. Perfect for those who want to experience a genuine side of Sardinia and explore on their own. The location is quite remote so be prepared for some driving, unless you just want to relax on the spot. Would love to return!

Peaceful retreat off the beaten track
We had a peaceful and relaxing holiday staying at this Villa. It was clean, decorated very tastefully and in a unique style although quite sparse in the bedrooms ( this didn't really matter as we spent most of our time outside), and had wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. The rooms were spacious, the kitchen rustic but well equipped and we made use of Leo's library of books and music.
Leo and Marzia were very welcoming and helpful - going out of their way to make sure that we were OK, and even bringing us fresh pasta on the one rainy day we had to cheer us up.Their hints and tips for beaches, restaurants and markets to visit were also very useful. The hammock under the olive tree was a lovely retreat in the heat of the day, and we spent hours just sitting and looking at the views and the wildlife. It is quite remote which is great for star gazing and wildlife, but the track to get there is very bumpy so you need good suspension ( this adds to the charm but is hard on your car), and means that you have to do a lot of driving if you want to get to beaches etc. Everywhere seems to be about 20Kms. Not recommended for a beach holiday, or those in search of luxury, but recommended for people who are looking for something a bit more unique away from the crowds and the usual tourist trail.
