This is a comfortable, well-run establishment. If you have to go to Luderitz, (!!) then this is the place to stay. The restaurant serves excellent food and the staff are friendly and efficient. Research the town before doing the two way 125km detour. They do dig a narrow channel across the pan in October to hold the windsurfing world record event, currently just over 100kph. That's worth a look!
Had the best calamari ever in my life - don't think i will ever have calamari that good again - the food is of excellent quality. Dinner was a buffet and they also have a menu to choose from, if a buffet is not your taste......
Regular chain hotel. Rooms are clean. Try and get a room as far as possible from the renovations. Luderitz interesting town to explore especially Kolmanskop. Staff friendly. Restuarant good but crayfish overpriced.
It is probably the best hotel in Luderitz but they could do with sharpening up their act. When we arrived they showed us to a room which was very basic, no carpet, a bit dusty, and generally unloved. We asked if we could be moved, and they moved us instantly to a much better one - it seems a bit odd to allocate a bad room when you've got a lovely one available! It was all a bit lackadaisical. We booked a table at reception for the restaurant for our second night but the message was not passed on, they forgot our packed lunch order etc.
One Star Review as you can't give zero! In case you are trying to sleep somewhere in lüderitz don't come here. The windows are not closing, the shower is not working and we found Shampoo in the shower left by the Last guest. After our complaint the reaction was to send the maintenance guy whos reaction was: can't do anything right now, i will come back tomorrow. We stay for one night, which he was aware of. In the end we got no compensation, are freezing and the Night in lüderitz is ruined. Thanks for nothing Nest Hotel! I hope we never meet again!
Very large & impersonal hotel with rude staff on reception, they ignored you while they chatted to each other then were very dismissive when they decided to attend to you. Cleanliness was not the best and our room windows were dirty, not all rooms have clear views of the ocean or balconies. Our booking was for a double room which we thought was supposed to have views of the ocean and a balcony, we were given a twin room with no balcony and limited sea view with was obscured by the dirty windows. The hotel was being refurbished when we were staying here which may account for the room but is definitely no excuse for the attitude at reception. A highlight was the outdoor area overlooking the ocean where you could sit and have breakfast, the breakfast and service during breakfast was excellent. Fellow travellers stayed in Bed and Breakfast's which they said was vey high standard and much more reasonably priced.
I have been going to Lüderitz for quite a few years now and also stayed at the Nest Hotel a few times. This weeks visit was the first again in a while as their offering was getting old, but i was very impressed with the hotel, rooms and staff. all the rooms have been renovated and alao they all have a sea view Well done, I really enjoyed my stay and will be back.
Best place in town but expensive, anywhere else you get this quality for less money. When we checked in there were no towels in the bathroom. The electronic room key didn't work and the reception was unable to program a new one. Even the next morning it was not made ready. The room service didn't refill toilette paper. The tap-shower-switch in the bathroom was broken. All minor problems but inconvenient.
The hotel is next to the ocean but that's about the only advantage. We had two rooms for one night which were ok, but had no charme or anything nice about them. Worst part was the fenced, locked door to the garden, making us feel like we are in prison camp. The welcome at reception was not overly friendly, we got greeted - arriving shortly after noon - with the comment that we arrived far too early and that check-in starts at 1400h. Luckily after some waiting our rooms were ready. Sadly staff showed us a way to our rooms which turned out to be blocked by construction work, forcing us to walk all the way back with our luggage to reception and go the other way around. Overall the worst place to stay over night in Namibia so far, but we got spoiled by fantastic lodges in the last two weeks as well. Happy to move on tomorrow.
Beautiful upgrades to the rooms, hallways and bar, love it. Love the new color codes and the new door to the bar! Love what they done to the rooms, really gives a cosy feeling. Well done Nest Hotel, definitely will come back...
