This hotel is relaxing and elegant. The rooms are large with lovely balconies. The architecture is reminiscent of a southern resort and the service is excellent. Views from the restaurant and the rooms are of gardens. The food was one the best we have found in Southeast Asia. The fish is particularly good and the breakfasts are made to order. We were there three nights and I could have stayed much longer. It is really beautiful.
We stayed here for 3 days during April and had a fantastic time. We chose the bed and breakfast package and have to say the breakfast is outstanding (cappuccinos and carrot/ginger juice very good). The is also a great location and a quick TUKTUK to the city centre. The hotel also provides a regular shuttle service into town which is really helpful. They also have an airport transfer service (for $15) which is worth using and reasonable priced! They have an afternoon tea every day from 4pm to 5pm which is well worth doing. We also had dinner one evening at the hotel which was very good. The bar man makes great cocktails and they have a wonderful bar area (see pics). We did one excursion with the hotel which was a combination of a visit to the Kuang Si waterfalls followed by a return trip on a boat along the Mekong river. This was a private guided trip which was well run. Our main complaint about this excursion is that after getting picked up at 1.30pm and doing the falls followed by a 2 hour river cruise getting us back by 5.30pm there was no food/drink on offer at all. Seems a great pity to do a two hour river cruise on a boat with absolutely nothing to eat or drink. A cocktail would be a welcome addition!! Worth mentioning is the great pool area and bar of the hotel which is a great place to relax. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we would highly recommend this hotel!
We sent four nights there and had an amazing time. The property is an oasis of calm amid the bustling streets and throngs of tourists of Luang Prabang. The rooms were very well appointed and comfortable but the staff is what made it a special place. Very friendly and attentive and everyone is always smiling. The food at Belle Époque was phenomenal and I only regret that I didn't personally thank the chef. We also did two excursions arranged through the hotel and that were great. We especially liked the off the beaten track bike tour as we didn't see a single other tourist.
Had a lovely stay here in the rather spacious and comfortable Luang Say Residence at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Luang Prabang. This hotel features modern construction, and amenities including a beautiful pool. The two restaurants are postcard perfect and the ground were immaculate. The rooms had all the conveniences with a classical look and feel including canopy beds. The location was nice for getting in and out of town with little fuss. Loved it.
This is a magnificent estate of a number of wonderful colonial suites built with great authenticity, with high quality materials and attention to detail. The food in restaurant is excellent and the breakfast quite superb. The staff go out of their way to make one’s stay memorable with thoughtful little gifts each day day and excellent assistance with tours and excursions. Altogether wonderful. You can event smoke a cigar in the bar if it takes your fancy
What a fantastic experience! Authentic classical French Colonial style boutique hotel. It's all in the detail - done exceptionally well; nothing was left to chance. From the French & Lao staff: kind, caring, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive, but not intrusive to the local handicraft gifts chosen by staff and left at 'turn down' in our huge, very comfortable suite. Set in tranquil, well-maintained grounds featuring a bountiful organic garden - which obviously receives a lot of tender loving care from the gardeners. Scrumptious breakfast with fresh herbs (Eggs Benedict!), plentiful fresh fruit and bread basket with tasty croissants. Great coffee & fresh orange juice too. Traditional Laos noodles included - or order A La Carte eg. omelette. Another nice touch are the paper placemats which explain the history of Laos and its early explorers (in French, of course!). High Tea for US$8 was great value too with a wide selection of sandwiches, cakes, Laos sweet rice desserts & tea. We arrived quite late on our first evening, greeted with a welcome fruit drink and chilled face towels and chose two Starters which were very tasty - although I think I'll pass on the buffalo sausages! (I didn't like them in South Africa either!) We ate in the Library/Bar - another comfortable area for reading/tea/evening cocktails. (Wide selection of reading material too.) A super infinity pool with cushions, fans & chilled bottles of water provided - so peaceful. As much as I could have just stayed at the hotel the whole time, we did go out a lot! The hotel car was always at our disposal and the staff gave us great recommendations for dinner (Manda de Laos) and a Spa nearby (Sofitel). Only one thing is, given the varying land levels, there are several flights of steps around (5 or 6 steps in a flight) without handrails. However, I'm sure that the GM, Mr. Fernandes has this covered for anybody with mobility issues. Sadly, we were only there for 4 days and I wish we could have stayed longer :( Absoutely recommend this charming hotel and we were very touched by the staff all waving us off goodbye.
Beautiful colonial style cottages surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens. Staff were friendly and supportive of any requests. Fantastic beds and linen ... eye to detail applied at every point from check in to check out. As we had an early flight and would miss breakfast, a breakfast box was prepared and hot coffee ready to take in the car. This place is amazing and Luang Prabang is quiet and beautiful, just like the people here, a must for any tourist in Laos.
A very lovely, small boutique hotel on the outskirts of the town. The staff could not be more kind and helpful throughout our stay. Whilst the hotel is in the town you still feel as if you are in a little oasis. Pool area is beautiful. Highly recommend for anyone visiting. Rooms nice and spacious with great shower etc. We were only here two days but managed to pack a lot in. Waterfalls in particular were worth visiting.
I stayed here on a solo trip after my friend had visa issues and couldn't make it. The Luang Say is a little outside of the main part of tourist Luang Prabang, but it lends it a very peaceful feel. The center of town is reachable via a 20-30 m stroll or the free shuttle from the hotel. I travel a lot in Southeast Asia so I'm used to hotels with good service, but I was still impressed with the Luang Say. There was a very welcoming feel, the staff was lovely, and some nice little touches that made it just a little bit special, such as gifts chosen by the staff and left for you at turn down service. The hotel was so relaxing I spent 2 half days just lounging around reading a book and it was pure heaven. Very unlike my normal "get up and go" attitude on vacations. I would 100% stay here again and recommend in a heartbeat. The only downside was a location a little outside of the central area, but that might be a good thing if you don't like crowds.
My wife, 15-year-old son and I shared an exploratory suite for three nights. It was blissful. (Tip: suite 601, in the heritage building, is upstairs with a porch that runs the width of the back side overlooking the garden and the villas - see photo.) The facilities are beautiful, but the staff made the trip exceptional - truly caring, attentive, friendly and sharing. An unexpected benefit of being slightly out of the center of town is that the facilities are relatively underused (presumably because the guests spend most of their time offsite), with the result that it felt like we had breakfast, tea, the pool, and the restaurant virtually to ourselves whenever we wanted them. Easy shuttles and tuk-tuks made location a non-issue, and the pool (not an option in the city core) was a welcome respite after hot days of touring the city. We left feeling pampered and happy. Thank you!
