Superb and friendly place to recover after a 17 hour trip. Very helpful staff. Particularly agreeable is the shuttle to the city centre, as the resort is located in a more quiet part of Luang Prabang.
The Sofitel is about 2 km out of the centre of town. it is a beautiful complex. there is a charming pool and some of the villas have their own private pool. the staff are very helpful. On their recommendation, we went to an elephant sanctuary rather than the elephant riding experience, which is not good for the elephants. the food for dinner is more western than I would prefer
Being at the Sofitel was just magical; from the kindness of the staff, to the beauty of the gardens, the taste of food... they even have bunnies and a great library! We loved this place! Thanks to all the amazing staff that organized our excursions and really pampered us! You made a very happy family
This is a beautiful hotel, quiet but centrally located (walk 10 -15 minutes to town or take a bike from the hotel). The rooms are all accessible directly from the garden. The room was spacious, had a lovely half-outdoor bathroom and a private backyard. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was plenty and delicious. The pool was wonderful, very clean, and the right temperature for us. The Governor's grill, the restaurant of the hotel was lovely! Great food and a very nice atmosphere as it's set directly in the garden, surrounded by nature. We ate there 3 nights in a row! The only reason I gave it a 'very good' instead of 'excellent' is that we were first put into a room (nr. 14) that had serious molding issues and water was dripping from the ceiling, which would have been unhealthy for anyone to stay in for even a short period of time. We were moved to another room once we let the front desk know. It was disappointing that this room was not blocked from guests as the molding issue was so obvious, once you looked at the ceiling. We arrived tired and went straight to bed, only once comfortable in bed we noticed the molding spots on the ceiling and it started to drip into our bed. I hope that the staff will check all rooms thoroughly in the future before assigning them to guests. All in all it was a nice stay and I can recommend the hotel. I don't think I would recommend a hotel right in center, the main street. You come to Laos to be in nature and the Sofitel has a wonderful atmosphere to it, real vacation and relaxation time.
Enjoyed our stay very much. All staff were very attentive, hospitable, friendly, helpful, took time to chat with guest, smiley from guest relations to waiters, waitresses and housekeeping. Every morning we are greeted by almost same staff and they made us feel so at home as we are familiar with them. Breakfast was delicious that it made us look forward every morning. I felt Laos people can really cook as our meals everywhere was so good. Our 1st night at 3 Naga dinner were superb, we had the Laos dinner set. Staff there also as good. Rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated with detail. When our TV cable was not working they immediately get it fixed as quick as they could. Efficiency level thumbs up. We highly recommend people to stay here.
We stayed in a Pool Villa and even though the weather was not great it was very relaxing and well worth the extra money. The service was excellent as was the food. We also did a cooking class which was well worth the experience. This is a high end hotel that caters for all needs. Great wine list with many great French wines.
Luang Prabang Sofitel is a luxurious boutique hotel. Each room has its own outdoor area with big tub to soak in. We especially enjoyed the cooking class and the gorgeous massage at Le SPA in the hotel grounds. 90 minutes of bliss. The staff are helpful and obliging, and the management very effective. Loved our time here.
Check in was efficient with excellent information given about the hotel. Our room was large with an interesting bathroom which was an indoor/outdoor arrangement. We also had an extra huge freestanding bath in our private garden. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Breakfast was good, as was all the food we had there. We did a cooking class which was excellent. We also used the free bikes to ride around town. So much fun! The only negative was the pool was closed due to renovations. They did offer to take us to a hotel close by at any time to use their pool which we did but it was not the same. I guess they had no choice as the decking was rotten and possibly dangerous. The best thing about this hotel is its friendly service, being a small hotel it's quite personal as well. Thank you Moo -Yen for some excellent suggestions for restaurants.
Even before we arrived I received an email from hotel management asking if I required to be picked up from the airport, which I happily accepted. On arrival until we left we found the level of service extremely high with the staff always friendly and willing to assist in anything we needed. Our room was very comfortable and tastefully furnished with everything we needed for a pleasant and comfortable stay. There were bicycles for our use free of charge and every afternoon there was complimentary afternoon tea for all the guests. We were even invited to a blessing ceremony that my wife and I enjoyed immensely. Food was well prepared, reasonably priced and delicious.
We enjoyed four nights at the Sofitel in a private pool room with outdoor / indoor shower and bath, selection of six fresh teas and coffees (not tea bags) , the most glorious robes, and beautiful decor. As always the bed and pillows so comfortable. The Sofitel is situated 15 minutes walk from the night markets and only five minutes from the beautiful Manda de Laos restaurant. The shuttle takes you to the three nagas / m gallery hotel each night on the hour from 6 - 9 with return shuttle service from 6:30 - 9:30. Where could they improve? Better maps, no neighbors with roosters to wake you at 5am, and to be honest I didn't rate my cocktail, nor being charged US$5 for a mixer to go with a $7 Whisky. The lights to show up the lovely selection of teas wouldn't hurt especially as they've taken such care to provide a range of good quality teas. But genuinely friendly service, delicious breakfast options, huge hotel pool and other treats and all is forgiven. I can highly recommend for some luxury and relaxation, with the beautiful Luang Prabang minutes away.
