Burasari Heritage Luang Prabang4.5 out of 5.0

Burasari feels like home because of the way the rooms are designed, the wooden furnishings and the manner with which it is laid out architecturally. We were up on a second floor where we shared a common space in the middle with four or five other occupants. Down below we hear the din arising from the kitchen each morning and the chatter of passers by who attend the alms giving ceremony right at the street behind the hotel. The rooms were designed with a keen eye for detail that was not only evocative of a rich cultural past but the cleanwe lines of the present. The ceramic wash basin and the walk-in shower all worked well with the leather pouches at check in and the classic black Benz that picked us up. The breakfast buffet was a moderate spread but the yogurt and milk products as were the cooked food were delicious. What made it so charming and comforting, like the places we call home, are its people. They have a genuine need to connect and serve. And while there are gaps in communicating, they are the loving people who make amends for their shortcomings. Miss Janis and her manager and LP team are awesome in their willingness to go the extra mile and for that I would go back to Burasari again, intending next time to sit by theI'd riverfront with a bottle of white. Oh did I say the location is great too? It is a few minutes away from the night market, cosy cafes, charming shops and two grand temples or wats. The hotel also offers a sunset cruise when the sun is up and that in itself is an experience worth having. Icing on the cake: the best massage in all the places I have been in Asia. Our package included a daily massage and that is a great choice if you walk, bike and ride motorbikes throughout the day. What was her name? Fang, the lady masseuse? Thank you to our hone in Luang Prabang!
My stay at burasari heritage was a wonderful experience! The hotel was unlike any other i have seen in some time. The staff was warm and very helpful. Rooms spacious and welcoming coupled with fantastic food. The spa should be on everyone's to-do thing at burasari heritage. I recommend a stay here wholeheartedly!
This hotel is a jewel of a place in Luang Prabang. Striking architecture and open spaces filled with lush greenery that just sitting and sipping tea in the lounge felt so good not to mention the excellent service and delicious food. They even have some very good vegetarian food. The hotel is bang next to almost everything important inLuang Prabang. Pubs, bakeries, markets, temples et all. The spa is also excellent. Highly recommend this place if going to Luang Prabang.
This charming hotel, with welcoming, warm staff, with an excellent Cuisine is the must stay place for anyone who likes to stay in a comfortable, stylish, clean, beautiful environment not far away from all the temples and monks. All sites are easily reachable 'à pied' as everything is in walking distance, such as the night market, the Museum, the shops and all the many beautiful temples. For man a canvas carry along bag is provided during the stay, and the little bag completely filled with all the coconut based toiletries is a give away for the ladies. You can also use their bike to ride along.
From the moment of arrival the staff are friendly & helpful. Rooms are comfortable- if a little dark - if you like to read in bed the bedside lights are not strong enough. Great location, river views and within walking distance of all the major sights, from the wats to the night market. If I had one criticism it would be that there's no need for the incessant sound track of cheesy, dated lounge music that's on permanent loop in the communal areas. The spa is also excellent, though probably the highest prices in Luang Prabang.
We stayed at Burasari Heritage and the manager Tanum was extremely friendly in familiarising us with the town without which our luang prabang experience would have been very different. We got upgraded to a beautiful room since the one we had booked was unavailable - very professionally handled and fantastic service. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Luang Prabang.
For the positives in my opinion: well located, fairly quiet, a lot of character, free beer and sodas in the mini bar, international power plugs in the rooms, free bicycles to ride around, friendly staff, comfortable beds, decent breakfast. Some of the other freebies mentionned in other reviews like free transfer to airport and welcome massage depend on how you booked/ how much you paid. I personally felt a bit claustrophobic because of the darkness of the bedrooms. Even if it is the traditional style of this architecture, slightly more powerfull lights, or more of them would help conciliate tradition and modern hospitality. The nearby Spa offers excellent professional massage. What I don't like, and most hotels do it unfortunately, is to offer to arrange tuktuk for you and take a massive commission on it. As an example they were talking about 40 US$ to ride to the waterfalls, when the tuktuk in the street charged only 22. Either the hotel has his own fleet and drivers and charge premium, and it is expected. Or they just call a tuktuk from the street and it should be a courtesy service. When in Bangkok I asked the hotel to call a regular taxi, they did it at not charge and I paid according to meter.
First good thing that the hotel reached out to me as soon as I booked. They offered a free pick up. The best service as it's a small place and no chance of getting a taxi. Next great thing, with a refreshing welcome drink they offer a welcome neck and shoulder massage. For me the third best thing to happen was Tanum Sharma. F.O. manager immediately understood my plight of being a vegetarian. He made sure that food was customized as much as possible. Still I found it difficult. So he adjusted the amount against spa. That's how one creates a good will. Special shout-out to Mike and Philips who took care of everything. Including guiding me to various places. Tanum suggested giving alms to monks. Something guidebooks don't mention about. One of the most peaceful experience it was. And absolutely do not miss on traditional lao massage at spa here. They set the bar too high for spas now. Tip: Ask for room which is facing the river. And don't bother with skin treatment or facial at spa.
I am choosing Burasari Heritage because of the location as well as the old world charm the hotel pride itself for. I am not disappointed. My package included complimentary airport transfer, breakfast and dinner. The driver was a little late for pick up at Luang Prabang international airport, other than that everything else was smooth running. Daily breakfast has good international spreads and sufficient quantities. Chef Nhom who was helmed from Thailand was always attentive and check on his crew daily. For dinner, there was a selection of set menus with drinks and a la carte additional food at additional cost. For most people, you can be pretty full and satisfied with zero additional dollars spent. For those who prefer additional drinks with your meals, the beverages pricing were reasonable. Staff were friendly and attentive. The room was of reasonable size with added varada that allowed you to sit in the afternoon seeing slow pace Luang Prabang life unfolded. Mosquito can be a problem although the hotel provided mosquito repellent spray in the room amenities kit. Overall a good hotel, good service, good food at reasonable price.
This is a very charming hotel in the very charming city of Luang Prabang in Laos. Situated between two rivers, the hotel really has a French/ Tropical feel to it. We were greeted with candy, drinks AND 5 minute neck massages! WOW how often does that happen?? Our room was charming with a great shower and super cold A/C! However our room was on the bottom floor and when the curtains were open we were pretty much out of privacy, as a result we ended spending time in the room with the shades drawn even in broad day light. If I stayed again, I would book on the top floor or in the rear of the hotel. Everyone in the staff was very nice to deal with. The only reason I am not giving this a 5 star is that the restaurant was not as great as it could have been. The breakfast was very limited and quite expensive (perhaps it was the season) the coffee was really bitter. Also the menu options were limited in a town which has the most amazing food! On a positive note- I can highly recommend the spa! One of the very, VERY best spa treatments I've ever had in my entire life. Do yourself a favor and book a massage! O
