Their morning market tour/cooking class was full - so I booked the afternoon ... and found I was the only pupil so got full one-on-one attention! Fab location cooking on the riverbank opposite the hotel. I chose Set 3 for US$35 and made 4 dishes. My chef was May with Xay as interpreter. A wonderful experience and the food turned out very delicious - thanks to May's careful guidance :) I left with a copy of their menu/recipe booklet and I will definitely make the dishes all again next weekend as I'm hosting a dinner party at home!! A MUST DO!!

The location is just great. Just aalong the riverside with lots of restaurants nearby. Very close to get to the market. The stay included experiences you can choose. We did cooking class and the sunset river cruises which was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the staff and chef who taught the cooking class even came to say goodbye to us before we left.

Very nice property conveniently located in Luang Prabang. The property has the feel of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Nice rooms and accommodations. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were able to schedule multiple tours of the area with their help. Definitely would stay here again.

Burasari has a special welcoming atmosphere given its prime location, fantastic rooms and great staff. Staff treats you like part of family very professional, very courteous and attentive. Open floor concept is the main feature in public areas and my room 301 was spotless clean and beautiful. Amenities are from the best quality using local products and wish I could have bought them to take back home. Brekfast is also excellent, I had benedict eggs and they were amazing totally recommend. Hotel welcomes you with nice leather pouch in which you can put map, pens and cards. Such a nice gesture. On my last day I was offered a complimentary sunset cruise which was phenomenal along the Mekong river!!! They offer water and I bought I cool bottle of amazing BeerLao!! Needless to say how awesome was the experience!! Finally, the SPA is the best SPA I went, I did the signature Burasari massage and it was EXCELLENT.

The staff is wonderful, some of the best we have ever dealt with in all our travels. They did everything to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast is very good (they offered freshly made eggs benedict or Florentine with perfectly poached eggs), the wifi is fine, the tv has a good selection of stations, and there was a space heater in our room (which we needed as a cold spell hit Luang Prabang during our stay). But there are issues with the hotel. We stayed at Burasari Heritage because there was construction next to the hotel we were in and had to move. The first room we were shown was small, in back and the toilet was just in the room behind a partially divided wall, not in a separate room. At best it would be ok for a single person. The second room was on the ground floor was larger and the toilet was in a separate room but the shower was a round stall in the room itself. We asked to see a different room because of the noise of people walking in the room above. The third room was upstairs (1st floor or 2nd in America). It was a better room. But, as with the one on the ground floor, the shower was in the bedroom, not in a separate room. I understand that open bathrooms were the fashion, but they are annoying. Another issue with this room was that the door and windows did not close tightly and there were gaps that let in air (and it did get cold) and noise. it is one of the more expensive ones in center of Luang Prabang and we expected a lot more for the money The staff, location, wifi, tv, space heater and breakfast are all positives, but it was not a value stay. After a few days we moved to another hotel down the street, a smaller place that was in an old renovated building. It did not have a space heater, but it did have a separate bathroom (with shower and toilet), wifi, tv, door and windows that closed a lot more tightly, balcony and an ok breakfast. And it cost a lot less, about one fourth the price.

If you're looking for a full service hotel with pool and butler, the Burasari won't be for you. However, if you're looking for an intimate, well appointed boutique hotel with a very local vibe, spa, obliging service and friendly staff you will love the Burasari Heritage. The Burasari experience began at the airport where we were met by our driver with his vintage/very cool, black Mercedes. Unfortunately, our group of five had too much luggage to fit in the boot, but the hotel immediately offered to reimburse us for a taxi for the two of us that didn't fit in the hotel car. On arrival, we were met in the lounge where we were offered drinks and cool towels while the staff handled our check in while we relaxed. The property is located on a quiet street just across from the Nam Khan river and a short walk to the more bustling center of town. It's actually the perfect distance to everything as it's quiet but walkable to restaurants, cafes, bars, and boutiques. The lodgings feel like a collection of french colonial buildings that have been renovated meticulously with local materials, but updated to feel premium. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a ceiling fan, AC, refrigerator, cable and complimentary coffee, water, beer, sodas and snacks. It was very comfortable and we slept very well. The only potential drawback was the awkwardness of the shower position, but understandable as the showers are a modern convenience added to an older building. This would not be an issue in any way if you were traveling solo or sharing the room with your partner. (and this definitely wouldn't be a reason to not stay at the Burasari) Bicycles are also available free of charge to explore Luang Prabang. On our first night, the staff invited us to a complimentary sunset cruise on the mekong on a local, family owned long boat. This was definitely one of the highlights of our entire trip. Refreshments are also complementary, but we opted to pre order some bottles of wine (great selection at the hotel!). I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Overall we would recommend it as it was perfectly located with space for the kids. Positives Friendly staff Spacious room Set menu is perfect Negatives Expensive for South East Asia Can be noisy (you will hear the monks call to prayer) Odd bathroom setup (in-room with no door)

Most personalised, and incredible stay ever. Wonderful genuine and kind staff. Gorgeous rooms. Excellent food, location. Free brand new bikes to cruise the town. We had a wonderful time. A great experience.

We enjoyed our stay at the Burasari and extended it longer than we had initially planned. They helped us arrange day courses at last minute like cooking class at Tamarind school and the Ock Pop Tock weaving school - both are a must if you have time in L.P. But even if you don't the hotel is well positioned to see everything by foot easily. One us had a birthday and manager arranged for a special cake - a sweet touch. The rooms are comfy and bath products from the spa are lovely (especially if you like coconut). There is no tub, however,. Our room did not include breakfast. We enjoyed it, especially the fresh juices and pastries, but it was on the expensive side. If you are on a budget you could do better to eat out in one of the French cafes or down the road at another riverside cafe or Saffron coffee. Highlight was the spa. Service was always reliably good, nice atmosphere and quality therapists. Just be aware that it booked out fast so may be a good idea to pre-reserve. We had a few hiccups during our stay, however. Our vintage mercedes shuttle broke down en route to the airport and we almost missed our flight but they arranged for us to get a tuk-tuk instead. Not a huge deal for us, but for less intrepid travelers this could have been more nerve wracking. Also we requested wine for the sunset cruise but there was a mix-up and they forgot to bring it on board. Some of the staff do not speak perfect English and it can lead to mix-ups, for example, we struggled a bit too hard with administration around extending our stay and booking again (we used booking.com which seemed to do better than hotel website which was hard to navigate and showed different inventory). Overall, it was a nice stay. This is definitely on the luxury side for L.P. but at the same time quite affordable compared to some of the more high-end options.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. From the staff, to the location, to the breakfast and the rooms themselves. Everything was great! It feels like you are taken back in time! (In a very comfortable way! haha) The hotel was recently refurbished to give it a 1940s feel with a luxury comfort. It really is such a cool place to stay. I highly recommend this place, as we will stay here again when we return!
