Could not fault the hotel and staff with added bonus for the New Orleans Cafe Bar conjoined to the hotel. My wife and I spent seven nights at the Panorama and despite the constant turnover of residents the always made us feel as if we were the most important in their dealings with us, especially as our French is limited.
Heartfelt thanks to Caroline and Agniewska for professional, friendly and courteous service from the minute I walked through the door at Hotel Panorama, Lourdes. I walked straight into a tour group of women from Spain, but was seen immediately without delay by Caroline. Airfrance had totally destroyed my stay with their delays and cancellations of flights from Paris. Thanks to Caroline, I was reassured that my booking was still valid. Spotlessly clean room with Grotto view and all amenities available. If Airfrance hadn't been so problematic, I would have had longer at Hotel Panorama and provided an in depth review. I found it good value for money, clean, quiet and walking distance to Grotto and retail areas.
The room was good. The only thing I didn't like initially was getting a room where the bathroom was separate from the sink and shower. I find this gross, disgusting and very unhygienic. I asked for a bathroom where the toilet was in the same room as the sink and shower, and was moved to another room where my request was accommodated.
We were very lucky to find room in this modern hotel, that is among the closest hotels to Grotto (less than 100 meters to a side entrance), near the 13th day of the month. The receptionist staff made us feel very welcome. Breakfast is a great start for a cooler weather in mid September (The more pleasant time to visit Lourdes would be June or July). If you visit Lourdes for a pilgrimage (whether during the month of May or October or some other time), staying very close by to Grotto will allow you to return to your hotel throughout the day and the evening.
I really enjoyed my stay here. It's an old hotel but so is Lourdes. I was at the end of the Motel so wifi was intermittent. Perfection location as it's close to the basilica and grotto. If you have excess luggage the post office is 11 min walk or 6 euros in a cab . Postage was very cheap compared to excess bagged, Do not eat next door as you walk out and turn right, the food is vile and staff rude but there are so many places . I went to Cafe royal and the staff were fantastic. Taxis do not have credit card so bring cash. Organise taxi if coming from the train station before you get there.
Stayed in this hotel from 14-21 July 2017. Although it is listed as 4 star it is not, based on comparison to 4 star hotels in other countries, a 4 star. It is basic. Positives are : Staff were very friendly and professional, on the whole the place was clean, the location is fantastic for the Holy Grotto etc. However, there were a few negatives, we had set meals and the food wasn't up to much. It was never hot and the variety was poor. I would class the food as 2 star. My room was never dusted the whole week I was there (even although the surfaces were clear) and one day it wasn't even vacummed. I would return to it for a few days because of location but would eat out.
We stayed here for our diocesan pilgrimage and had a friendly welcome by the reception staff from the start. As this had been our hotel the previous year we requested the same room and were delighted to have a our request granted! The location of the Panorama could not be bettered if anyone is staying in Lourdes on pilgrimage or just wanting to visit the main religious sites. Some of the rooms even look out onto the Crowned Virgin Statue and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes (Domain). Our room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom and toilet are separate, which seems to confuse some reviewers, but both are well appointed and the arrangement works well. The room is equipped with kettle, mugs and an initial supply of teabags but if you are a typical British tea drinker bring some teabags with you! There are handy supermarkets for milk if you forget the powdered stuff. The hotel food is generally good. Breakfast is a buffet and includes cereal, porridge, juices, yoghurt, as well as hot scrambled egg, sausages and beans. Lunch and dinner were three course and included in our package. The quality varied from day to day but was generally good with sufficient for most appetites. For those looking for refreshment after a busy day of processions or masses, there are several good cafés very close by. Although there is supposed to be free wifi in the hotel, it may be necessary to go to a neighbouring café to get it. All in all, though, the Panorama is a super hotel and we hope to return if we come back to Lourdes.
such a great location for everything you'd want in Lourdes. The hotel is clearly capitalising on this with many huge parties of guests checking in whilst we were there. The rooms were up to acceptable standards - fairly clean, with most things we expect from a modern hotel. However they lose a couple of points for the following reasons - 1 ply toilet paper from a public toilet style dispenser - room refresh came crazy early (8am) and never came back if were still in the room. - very expensive for what it is
Good location. good hotel. Quite clean and good room service. Friendly staff very helpful and always with a smile. Opened 24/7 and very good location. The breakfast option was very good with reasonable options.
If you are planning to visit the Shrine of Lourdes, this hotel is as close as you can get to the main gate ( ST. Joseph's Gate). The hotel is immaculately clean. The staff is very attentive to guests' needs. The hotel is incredibly quiet. The rooms are small but comfortable. Some rooms have small balconies overlooking the entrance to the Shrine. The bed was firm but very comfortable. There is refrigerator in the room but we did not use it. There may be a fee for using it as a sign on the door says to call the front desk. One of two shower types are found in the rooms. One is a small square shower stall you walk into. Not much room. The second is a very high bathtub with a shower unit and a shower door that covers only half the tub. (typical of European tub-showers). This tub is very difficult to get into and out of. The food is mediocre at best. The wine selection is excellent and inexpensive. I recommend eating in the town. The elevators are very narrow and small.
