Secret Garden Guest House - 3BR/2BA - Fire pit!

Summary:
Welcome to the secret garden guest house in Old Louisville! Your own private getaway in the middle of the largest collection of Victorian homes in the country. This carriage house was built at the turn of the century as part of the Speed Mansion (the first house in Louisville to have a telephone) at the corner of Garvin Place and Ormsby. It has been fully renovated to accommodate guests looking for a little piece of the Derby City charm.

The Space:
Walk upstairs to an open floor kitchen/living room with lots of natural light, a nook dining area, and a large TV. Newly renovated kitchen includes dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a range of cooking supplies. A bedroom with two twin beds shares a bathroom with a queen bedroom. Queen bedrooms all have white noise machines. Downstairs houses the master bedroom and private bathroom as well as a fully stocked laundry area. Guests also have access to a garage, if needed, where you can store a small, possibly mid-sized vehicle. A serene English-style private courtyard that is shared with both units is the perfect place to unwind. Solar walkway lighting illuminates the courtyard at night.

The garage can house a small to medium sized car - additional parking is available for free on the street, which is a block up from the alley.

My stay here was not good and I would never recommend this to anybody. It was dusty knobs, missing off the stove, couch, filthy and amongst for adults there were only two towels and four washcloths. This place needs a total makeover that was paint chipping off the walls. Also, the walls were dirty. I had one skillet with a rickety handle and one small pot. Nothing like I’ve ever stayed in before and will never stay in again.

This is a beautiful guest house in a very walkable, friendly Old Louisville neighborhood. Perfect for my three friends and me to hang out for a long weekend. The bathrooms in particular are beautiful—not always the case in rentals: And the host is very responsive. I very much recommend this sweet space.

The property was very clean and very charming with lots of old character. Location is not terrible but I didn't feel comfortable walking alone in the alley. We had to ask twice for check-in instructions on the day we arrived. Owner responses were short and to the point, not warm and friendly.

Basically ZERO communication

We traveled to Louisville from Chicago for our son’s graduation. We are a family of 7, so we wanted a house to be together verses 2 hotel rooms. Amenities listed in description were not there as we arrived. We brought nice clothes for graduation ceremony and wanted to iron them after a 6 hour drive. An iron and ironing board were nowhere to be found. A toaster was no where. Oven mits were no where communication with host was crickets. He basically read our messages and we had ZERO response. I’ve never been so frustrated. The house has potential to be a decent destination, but amenities were so lacking.amd owner had no desire to help their guests out.
