Thank-you for posting my phone charger to me after I left it behind. My stay with you was so fantastic, a beautiful setting, so relaxed and comfortable. I am singing your praises to all who'll listen, and I'll definitely be back to stay again. LHI is stunning.
From the time we arrived to the day we left nothing was too much trouble for Gai and her Somerset team. Our luggage and medication were three days behind our arrival and Gai went out of her way to make sure we were as comfortable as possible. Great location, close to everything with a nice stroll to the main shoppping area. Each night we were driven to our selected eating place which allowed us to try all the many places available on the island. Our apartment was clean, convenient and in a beautiful tropical setting.
This was my 8th time staying at Somerset. Can't beat the location! Without fail the unit is always clean and contains everything that is needed for a self catering trip on the Island. We stayed in Hibiscus 10 as we love the balcony area and central location on the property - perfect surrounded by palm trees and a chat with those on their way to dinner and always some light entertainment when Nobbs arrives to take guests to dinner in the bus. Will return.
Set among gardens of swaying palms and beautifully kept this is the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday. WiFi is available, no phone or internet coverage, bliss! The perfect medicine for a stress free holiday. Kitchen facilities are good and there is a grocery shop located not far from the Apartments or you can go out to dine at Anchorage or a number of other restaurants on the Island. Somerset is one of the few resorts located close to the shopping hub of Lord Howe Island makes it also very close to both Neds Beach and the Lagoon for swimming or shopping or a quick bite at Thompsons. I loved every aspect of the holiday here. I hope to return here one day.
We were recommended Somerset by friends and were not disappointed. We were met at the airport and our every need was efficiently met. The setting is beautiful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with umbrellas, backpacks and lovely beach towels provided. There are excellent BBQ and laundry facilities available. The location is perfect and we walked everywhere except to the golf course, although most visitors to the island hire bikes. A few hints: - Bring amenities as these are not provided - Front & rear bike lights would be useful if you are planning to ride home from dinner as there are no street lights - Snorkelling equipment if you would rather your own to hiring. - Although there are plenty of warnings of luggage not exceeding 14kg per person, it is actually per bag. So don’t think you can have one 20kg suitcase between two people, you will need to divide into two bags, to guarantee it gets on the plane. - There are no plastic shopping bags on the island (although Somerset do give you backpacks for this).
Right from the pick up from the airport, Somerset looked after us. We were given a tour of the site which includes lovely windy pathways and landscaped rain forest style gardens and a large transit lounge for guests to use. Our room was huge with an opportunity to close doors between the areas making it a two bedroom unit if required. We had everything we needed including lovely thoughtful touches which included large Golf Umbrellas and 2 backpacks. Sound proofing was great, we didn't really hear anyone else despite people staying in the unit above and next to us. Part of the Lord Howe experience includes being driven from and to the airport in the shuttle bus as part of the price of staying in the accomodation. At $170 a night (during Sept 2018) this accommodation is exceptional value for money
Lord Howe Island was on our bucket list for a long time. We went there in May and we are already thinking about the next trip. It is a paradise! One of the nicest part of Australia. We decided to stay in Somerset Apartments and it was the perfect choice. Location is great and staff is lovely. We will be back :)
We stayed at Lord Howe Is. for 9 nights at Somerset apartments .Great location ,very clean ,friendly staff and great service .The owners think of the small things you might require ,like a day back pack in your room and containers if you wanted to take a packed lunch on a tramp.Would highly recommend staying here .
I stayed here for 7 nights in February and was really impressed with these units. The staff were very helpful and made me feel at home. It was very close to the centre of 'town' and I walked to the local restaurant for lunches and dinners every day. The unit itself was clean and comfortable, with a small patio which was lovely to sit at any time of the day or night. Overall, I was really impressed with my stay and would come back again.
Somerset is suited for the budget conscious traveller to Lord Howe Island. There are no meals offered at Somerset, however, the rooms have a small kitchen and microwave, so you can provide for yourself quite well. Somerset is ideally situated on Lord Howe, close to the lagoon, Ned's Beach and Old Settlement. They provide laundry facilities and have a small common room with a library stocked with plenty of board games.
