The room has been refurbished and looked okay, however there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and when I asked about a kettle I was told there was a kitchen near to our room with a fridge and microwave, I checked and it was marked staff only and didn’t have a kettle any way. The room was very noisy all night with music and noise from the pub and people coming and going to the small hours. There was a cigarette disposal unit right in front of our window where people gather to smoke and extinguish cigarettes. One of the single beds prevented closure of the bathroom door. No hot water available when I wanted to take a shower or to the sink. We left to find somewhere to get a coffee and breakfast and then went back to the pub, We went to go inside to report the problems and a young girl stood out front telling us they didn’t open until 11am,we said that we were going to check out as it was very noisy and there were no facilities or hot water, her answer was Again…and then no problem, to which I replied it is a problem but she wasn’t interested and carried on texting on her phone. To call the place a Hotel is a complete stretch of the imagination as hotels belong to the hospitality industry and we had none, it is not even a B&B. Just rented rooms. The owners need to look at it with fresh eyes to see what is needed when guests stay! Refurbishing rooms alone does not make it a Hotel/ place to stay. The only good point was a free drink on arrival,

Firstly, staff were really fantastic! So welcoming and helpful, and we’re willing to change our room at the last minute. Even gave us a complimentary drink each! Secondly, this is a BUDGET hotel, so don’t imagine that it’s going to be impressive. Having said that, the beds were clean and comfortable, the room was warm, the bathrooms were clean, and to stay for one night was totally fine. I would definitely stay the night here again if I needed a cheap stay. Things to note: Because this is over a pub, there will be music playing until late. The rooms are not soundproof, so you can hear what’s going on in the hallways clearly and also above you. The doors slam a lot as people go in and out too. The blinds aren’t blackout, so light does come through. There is no kettle in the room, no hair dryer, things like this. Just towels, hand soap and shower gel. There was a bright green light on the ceiling for a smoke detector or something. Not great while sleeping.

The thermostat did not go above 17 c. We were only provided 1 towel which had stains on it. There were strands of hair in the bed, shower, and folded into the towel. The wifi was very poor and made watching anything on the TV a hassle. The door leading up to the rooms got stuck and staff had to call someone to come down and open it from the inside, but they were very apologetic . The cleaning staff were pushy with us leaving the room at 11 despite the checkout time being posted as 12 on a card on the wall. Our room was right over the entrance and the noise from traffic and pub patrons was less than ideal late into the night, but that can't be helped I suppose. We were provided a free drink at the bar, and the staff were very friendly. The bed was very comfy Overall: a great Pub, but a mediocre hotel

Other than steep stairs leading up to the rooms I have little to no complaints. Bed was ok, it was just what I needed to get some sleep as a solo traveler. Even with it being a bar below it wasn’t noisy from inside the room. Would definitely stay again.
