This basement home's unique collection of artefacts, paintings and traditional furniture, are reflective of its proximity to The British Museum, which is literally just outside the front door. Being able to sleep ten people at full capacity, this home is great value for friends or families wanting to be in the heart of cultural London.

The Space:
Basement Flat - This well-lit apartment primarily occupies the basement/lower ground floor of the building where ceiling windows and plenty of lighting have created an inviting and cosy space. In the downstairs you will find 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen/dining area, whilst the large and functional living room is situated on the ground floor, where you will find a 55" Smart TV with Netflix.

The Neighborhood:
Bloomsbury is one of the last remaining quintessentially British neighbourhoods in London and is centred around The British Museum, one of the most iconic museums in the world which is literally on our doorstep. Bloomsbury is also the literary centre of London, JK Rowling’s publisher is just around the corner. There are also various lovely parks/squares a short walk away, such as Russell Square and Bloomsbury Square which are great to have a walk and enjoy the surrounding architecture in tranquillity. For those who enjoy shopping, eating out or nightlife the apartment is a ten-minute walk to Oxford Street, London’s renowned shopping district and Soho, where you can find great restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

Getting Around:
Tottenham Court Road Tube, Holborn Tube, The new Cross Rail, Cabs, Kings cross train station along with the good old 2 legs are all surrounding the property.

The property is located on Great Russell Street. The closest tube station is Tottenham Court Road located just a 5-minute walk away. If arriving by train into Euston, Kings Cross or Waterloo station this can be accessed by taking the Northern line on the London Underground System. If you are arrivng from Paddington Station use the Bakerloo line Southbound to Oxford Circus, before changing onto the Central line Eastbound to Tottenham Court Road.

The location was great and the place was ok, but there was a terrible sewer smell coming from one of the bathrooms that made the adjoining bedroom almost unbearable. The host were in no hurry to address the problem, which was brought to their attention quickly. In fact, they said they would look into it AFTER we left.

Good location, some issues downstairs
Our group of 7 adults was very happy with the location and size of the unit. It's close to public transit, restaurants, and the British Museum. However, we had issues with the dampness of the unit, especially on rainy days and when showering. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all basement-level, so you aren't able to get good ventilation into the rooms and it takes a long time for the bathrooms to dry.

The apartment is located in the basement of the building which unfortunately creates bathroom drainage issues. The back 2 bedrooms of the house almost always smelled of sewage and shower water did not drain well.

Could’ve been better
Location and communication with owner/agent was great. Unfortunately, there was a known plumbing problem in the en suite bathroom. Mold along door edging, and warped floor boards due to wet, dank conditions = subpar. Could not open windows to air out the accommodation without the smell of urine infiltrating the apartment. Apartment is in a basement and windows are located below street level in an alley. Perfect potty stop tucked away in Bloomsbury. Agent offered a 25% discount for a future stay as compensation. Later remedied with a small refund. Not 25%. With a clean up and reduced rate, would recommend.
