I read on tripadvisor that Hotel Villa Ombak is recommended in Gili T . Finally, I spent my weekend with family .., I feel happy morning sunshine with rinjani view .." wow ". I Love The Resort with white sandy beach , good food , friendy staff .. I will be back on my next vacation ..

Perfect hotel with great service, nice pool and good location. Close to the many restaurants on the sunrise side of the island. All over the place you can find live music from local people which creates a great atmosphere. As the island is only 6,7km around it is easy and nice to do by bikes which can be rent everywhere. The sunset side is very relaxt to stay as well. Go back location for sure!

First impression a bit of a disaster! Having booked a week's stay here with my gay partner in a double room not a twin, we were met with frowns and unfriendly banter between a couple of check in staff. They were both very cold and unwelcoming. After several attempts explaining we were happy with a double, the female staff member felt the need to draw me a picture of a twin and a double arrangement and then for me to circle which one we wanted. This was the catalyst for more serious banter in Indonesian after I circled the double bed. I understand and respect this is a Muslim country and I am prepared for some degree of discomfort but this was really unacceptable for an international standard hotel. Breakfast similarly commented on by others was a disgrace. Without doubt the worst breakfast we have ever encountered in a 4 star hotel. Lunches too were very ordinary. Tiles in our bathroom were broken, the loo took 3 flushes to work, and the walls were paper thin. We could hear all bowel movements, music, talking, everything in all 4 adjacent rooms. We had to call staff in the middle of the night twice to ask them to ask neighbours to tone it down. Room would regularly smell of cigarette smoke. All other staff other than check in were spot on friendly and very helpful. Security guy was so friendly (I would pop him on to reception). Staff uniforms were tatty and dirty or stained and ill-fitting. So many opportunities here to improve this hotel with a lovely setting and great location. I agree also with the priority given to the Asian tour groups with the loud speakers on the beach. Overall I would recommend trying elsewhere until these issues are resolved. Perhaps I would not be so whingey and critical if we were paying for 3 star rates rather than the 4 star rates.

I thought I would be having a nice experience in a boutique hotel as it really look nice on pictures and paid over 200 euro/night which is really high value in the Gilis. The hotel is really big so there is no personal attention. If we ask something we get it as staff is polite and nice but nothing special. What ruin the experience is the really bad food. Breakfast is not even the one of a 1 star hotel. Lunch on the beach is really low quality. Location is fantastic though. Overall the experience is ok but I am not sure it is an hotel I would recommend for a nice experience it is more targeted to groups.

I had reservations about staying at Vila Ombak as we normally stay at Pearl of Trawangan. A big mistake - the rooms are old, tired & in need of renovation. The pool area & restaurant have had an update since our last trip (and look great) however this won't be enough to get me back here. Poor service upon check-in and our room was given away to accommodate the Top Deck tour group. We were "upgraded" to a filthy room that should not be given to any paying guests. Had to change rooms on day 2 and no apology from the hotel. Air-con doesn't cool rooms below 24-26 degrees which we're told is normal for the hotel but perhaps should be disclosed in their room descriptions. Vila Ombak are clearly targeting the tour group customers (including day trippers & conferences) and have little regard for the rest of their patrons. Despite a great location, I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you're after a 2-star motel room. Pearl of Trawangan next door is incredible and it's easy to see why they are always booked out.

An excellent hotel-right on the beach with a great pool on site. The breakfast is basic but the service is top quality. Bikes are available for hire from the hotel and the staff could not be more helpful. Location is on the main strip but just far enough down the beach to offer peace and quiet.

As long term visitors to Gili Trawangan Island with our last few stays being next door at Pearl of Trawangan, we decided to give Vila Ombak another go following their recent renovations. Our visits to Gili Trawangan Island are always at least a week and this trip is no different with us staying for 9 nights. As such and like any other guest, we expect a clean room with functioning air conditioning and a reasonable level of customer service. Upon checking in, we were taken to our room which was filthy (dirty walls, a soiled bed skirt and mouldy shower) and had air conditioning that was not functioning (the unit had been on 16 degrees and the room was 26 degrees). When these issues were brought to the attention of the hotel and the fact that we were not in the type of room that we booked, we were informed that we had been 'upgraded' and that our original room had been given to somebody else (a tour group). Long story, short, we were moved between 3 rooms before we had one with functional air conditioning. The staff throughout this ordeal were not apologetic and were at times quite rude. The pool/dining and beach area has all been renovated and looks great however as above, the rooms are old and tired and are in desparate need of an update. Now to the clientel....whilst utilising the day beds at the beach today, there has been 2 or 3 asian tour groups arrive (of 100 or more in each group). Vila Ombak have closed half of their beach area and the beach has essentially been overrun by tour group activities including a host shouting over a megaphone for the past 7 hours. As a result of the tour groups being hosted and in addition to half of the beach being closed, Vila Ombak have also removed all of their beach service for the day. Upon enquiry about the noise and lack of service, we were advised 'it is a business and you can walk to the bar'. It is evident that tour groups are Vila Ombak's priority these days is their tour groups and not regular guests which is disappointing. I won't be visiting Vila Ombak again and I look forward to staying next door again at Pearl of Trawangan where they care about all of their patrons.

We came very early in the morning to Gili Trawangan and our villa was not ready yet, so we had to wait for quite some time to get our keys. But it was so worth waiting: when we came to our private pool villa, we simply fell in love with our accommodation. Both rooms were spacious with big open bathrooms that were very clean and very well maintained. The pool in front of our rooms was fantastic and we spent a lot of time there. Four bikes were waiting for us to explore the beautiful small gili. We enjoyed fantastic traditional Balinese massages in the Ombak spa center. We also took a private snorkeling trip and we loved it. Breakfasts in the hotel restaurant were delicious and with a lot of variety of food. Also cocktails and snacks from the pool bar were delicious. After few days we spent in our villa we were very sad to say goodbye to the beautiful island. Some day we will definitely come back on this beautiful small piece of heaven.

The resort itself was fabulous, amazing location, helpful staff and two really great pools. However for the number of people staying at the resort there never seems to be enough spots by the pool so get there before 1 before it gets really busy. I wasn't a huge fan of the lumbung hut, while the idea of it was cool, it was a pain climbing down some sketchy stairs at night to use the washroom and it is quite small with almost no storage, so our stuff was everywhere. However, they had some larger huts as well as villas which looked fabulous. So I would recommend this resort highly, perhaps just stay in one of their other room options.

Staff were fantastic, so helpful and friendly. Room was excellent and the service provided was great. Close to restaurants, shopping and very relaxed atmosphere. We definitely recommend Vila Ombak to anyone visiting Gili T.
