Staff where friendly and the hotel is modern and clean. Rooms are comfy with good shower and nice beds. Has secure parking under the hotel. Food isn't served on Saturday and Sunday. Town is about a 10 to 15 minute walk but easy to get too.
Stayed here on business for two nights. A comfortable, no nonsense hotel. Wifi was pretty good and the staff were friendly. Close to the train station, the room wasn't huge but it was a decent enough hotel.
This hotel is in a good location for an overnight stop. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. It also had the benefit of secure overnight parking. The area is not salubrious, so no sightseeing! My only complaint was the buffet starters in the evening and the buffet breakfast were bothered by flies which put me off eating.
Finding a hotel in St-Etienne around the date of the England game was like finding rocking horse faeces. Difficult. However after emailing every hotel in St-Etienne to express my interest, should any hotel rooms become available, I was pleasantly offered the two rooms I required. Now, they weren’t cheap, scandalously priced in fact, but prices were at an expected premium so I bit the bullet and committed. Helpfully, the hotel only wanted 50% payment immediately and the remaining sum 6 weeks before arrival but it was certainly better than staying in nearby Lyon, especially given the transport problems fellow fans went on to experience. The hotel is very close to the train station at the bottom end of the town, we lugged our bags on the 5 minute walk. It’s very easy to find. It’s a poor location for the centre of town for beers and food but nothing a 15 minute walk can’t solve. It’s not a nasty area though, I felt very comfortable walking back on two very late evenings but there is nothing around it of any use; no shops, no eateries or late night kebab houses… The hotel is clearly very old but it making amends to spruce itself up. The outside looks a little worn and the white paint could use a new coat but inside had a very fresh, modern look about it. It’s a good 3* standard, no better, no worse. It also has two well functioning lifts!! We had two triple rooms and the one I stayed in was very spacious with one double bed and two singles and still plenty of space in between. The bathroom was also a good size with a decent shower. The beds and room were clean with plug sockets aplenty. Breakfast was included which me made the most of both mornings and was a continental style. The staff didn't clean the tables from departing eaters very quick but they were very helpful at check in, especially Emiline who was very easy on the eye and gave me a free beer...after throwing one at me! She was very helpful though with our questions about the city. I’m not sure anyone travelling around France will ever find a reason to visit St-Etienne other than for football (believe me, there is absolutely nothing of use there), but if you do, the Kyriad is more than an adequate choice and serves its purpose very well.
We were in Saint Etienne for the football this summer where they had made such an effort to dress the place with flags etc. The hotel was good. Clean and comfortable. My room was quite spacious. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful which makes a big difference. Well located for the station.
Stayed here during Euro 2016. Clearly this is not a 5 star hotel, nor does it pretend to be. The hotel is located a five minute walk from the train station and a twenty minute walk from the town center. The rooms are very clean and quite modern, you also have air-con which is a huge bonus during the hot months. I found the staff to be friendly and professional. The whole place exceeded my 2star expectation! The only slight negatives are the very slow WiFi and bar/restaurant closes too early.
Well, not a type of hotel i normally would stay. old style and not really nice. and price / value during euro 2016 was insane - in the context definitely too expensive. reception personel (pauline and emilie) are super friendly and competent. dont drive to -2 floor in garage, steep and tight!
I have stayed here for several trips now. It is very close to the train station and there is a good public net work into the city also is approx 20 minutes walk to the city. Being on the out skirts you do not have to worry about the one way system in the city and parking. The rooms are clean and tidy the restaurant is also very good price depends on what you want but for 17.00 euro you can get 2 dishes from A starter, set meal & a desert. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. I hope this helps
This is not a very good part of town. We arrived on a Saturday night and told that the restaurant was closed.None in the immediate vicinity so we ended up with a Pitza takeaway. Room was clean and breakfast plentiful Was told by a passing Frenchman to use the underground car park and not to leave the car on the street.
We stayed a couple of nights as we were going to rugby in the town. The hotel was easy to find, easy parking and the staff welcoming on arrival. The room was fine with all the basics. I can't say I like paper cups much but in the scheme of things, so what. We had dinner in the hotel on our first night and it was very good, plenty of choice, well cooked and good service. Equally, we felt breakfast was good value. Overall, a pleasant stay, good value and friendly, helpful staff, particularly Juliette.
