Fast check in and welcoming reception staff. It's a 10 minute walk to the main restaurant area but the hotel food was good and very reasonably priced if you didn't fancy the walk. Rooms are big and clean, all good so far.
The location of this hotel can't be faulted. It was around a 15 minute walk to the main street in lodz for shopping and eating and there was no noise from the street outside. The breakfast was excellent - a wide selection of continental foods both hot and cold and a variety of teas. I was really looking forward to using the gym and sauna though when i arrived and asked if i was able to use it i was told yes - went to the gym/sauna and both saunas were switched off - and the control panel was locked away. The sauna guidelines had no indication of how to use them and the phone in the room didn't seem to be working for me to contact reception. The 'gym' was a cross trainer and a rowing machine - which is ok as there wasn't much space though it would've been great to have some yoga mats or something. The bedroom itself was a great size, the beds were very comfy and it was all spotless - though i would've liked the option of a second pillow.
The hotel is located fw minutes from the city center in an old industrial building. Somehow this makes it getting a little charme of the city. The rooms located towards the street are pretty noisy, thus those looking towards the backyard might offer a more quiet option. Breakfast is fine, with several typical Polish dishes. The fact that the hotel is offering a take a away sandwich brings a plus on sympathy.
The idea of making a hotel out of a factory is a good idea. Not even a long time ago it had to be an idea well implemented - numerous prices and awards on the hotel walls are a living proof of that. But what happened in the past months and years? The facilities were far from clean. Glue of dust and the fingerprints of previous guests were visible on the furniture, light switches and other surfaces. Dirty cutlery with small pieces of old food rests stuck to them. Awful plastic placemats with smears. Radiators with peeling oil paint. Dirty carpets. Smell of burned food in the lobby. The bath towels, which long time ago used to be white and whole. Lots of space very badly used or rather not used at all. Why be proud of having the largest rooms in town if they are also ugliest? And a very loud - too loud - Christmas music everywhere. Not all was bad - the employees were very nice and helpful. Also the bed (but not the pillow) was comfortable and clean. And there was a bottle of complimentary mineral water in the room.
I have been at the Focus Lodz hotel for one night. The room was very nice and so was the bathroom. The hotel is clean and very well maintained. The stuff are friendly and the bar is open all night :-). I recommend visiting the Main Street where you have a lot of shops and other things to see.
Well located (close to the train station Łódź Kaliska, Atlas Arena - if you go for concerts/fairs - and Łódź downtown), with own parking and nice breakfasts, but a little bit shabby. The hotel is located in the old factory buildings - looks great from the outside! - however its internal design does not highlight its advantages. The rooms and corridors look a bit worn out, bathrooms are somewhat also bit lower standard, however clean and comfortable. Beds are ok, however a also a bit too small. Rooms, on the other hand, are quite large and with high ceilings. There are nice new tv sets in the rooms, but no mini-bar or self-catering utensils. Service overall is very good, nice and welcoming staff. Breakfasts are OK. Overall impression depends probably also on the price you pay - the hotel has flexible rate policy, so in low-demand season you can probably find decent prices, but when there is high demand (like during concert days) the prices are high and in my opinion not justifying the overall standard. To sum up: good choice for the quick business stay or when the prices are low and you would like to feel a bit the atmosphere of the old Łódź, but probably you can find there some better locations at the similar price levels.
The building, serving initially as a cotton mill, was erected in 1897 by a weaver's son who soon turned a prominent industrial baron. It's a massive edifice topped with two towers resembling mediaeval fortifications. Rooms are (therefore?) extremely spacious. I didn't fall for Focus Katowice, but Lodz is quite charming. Almost excellent, if it wasn't for substandard bathrooms and a construction site across hotel's car park... Sssolid breakfast...
Very friendly and helpful staff, nice, clean, quiet & comfortable room, good place even for a remote whole day-work. Not very close to the main city centre (needs a longer walk or a taxi/car), but a very good location if you are travelling by car and need to commute out of the city centre. Interesting post-industrial building, with interesting view on a similar post-industrial site, under reconstruction (no disturbing noises from the construction site though).
Nice hotel, clean, good value for money. Had everything that you'd need from a hotel. Only grumble would be it was a fair step from the main centre, I should I known this before booking. Although was only a few zloty in taxi or 20 walk.
This hotel is perfect for a night stop over in Lodg. I spent one night with a group of students. The rooms are big and comfortable well equipped and the bed allowed a good night sleep. Breakfast is no more than OK and you expect it to be better.
