The Neighborhood:
Old Carlton-in-Coverdale is a charming village in the Yorkshire Dales, nestled in a tiny valley bordered by towering fells, and is one of the best kept secrets in the region. In the past, Coverdale was a popular route for packhorses to go between Wharfedale and Skipton. Traditional ancient stone-built cottages, a few farms, guest houses, and the village tavern, The Foresters, make up the settlement. In the valley below, the river Cover flows. Penhill and Roova may be seen on either side of Carlton. With its adventure gardens and eateries, the Forbidden Corner is a terrific place to take the whole family.
