Hotel Husa Abad San Antonio

The hotel has beautiful amenities but you can tell the administration is bad. Little things that you expect from a 4 star hotel and they don't reach the expectations. A few examples of this: when we arrived past midnight as we were doing the check in (which took more than normal) they asked us to pay right away! This has never happened to me before other than in hostels. This right away gives a weird feel as if they don't trust you, that you are gonna flee without paying. Second, we were told that the mini bars were not filled because of cases that ppl don't pay what they consume. Like in what 4 hotel star you don't have a mini bar? We had to ask for bottles of water during the check in in order to bring them to the room, and they were SUPER EXPENSIVE almost 2€ for a small water. When we went up the room after the long check in, carrying our waters, we got to a room with an extremely strong smoke and perfume mix smell. It is incredible that someone gets a room with such a smell ready for other customers to stay, when there are more free rooms to be used. We had to wait for the only employee in the hotel ( the girl from the reception) to run around and get the other room ready. The girl was super nice, I feel she did everything she had to but from the outside you can tell the hotel is horribly managed. TIP: ask how to use the shower because is complex to use... instead of wasting time asking for a payment in the check in they should spend time explaining you this. Be aware, the shower is super small... it has a bath but the shower is separate and súper small. BREAKFAST: the breakfast was lower quality than other 4 star hotels, and above average in price. I wouldn't recommend it to take it. No sort of breads offered, no real juice, and very few options to choose.

The room itself was nice, clean and modern. It wasn't very easy to find the hotel but in the end we managed to find our way. The staff in general was friendly enough but nothing too special to be honest. I think the value matches what you get when you arrive there.

The closest hotel next to the hospital and I believe they take advance of it. Rooms are ok but the breakfast area is inside a small and noisy cafeteria, food options are really poor, no lactose free, gluten free or diet food. This hotel is more like a 2*. Very disappointing.

Even if it is true that the hotel is difficult to reach and the indications are not clear (you will get lost without a GPS), the building is great. Rooms and toilets are big and clean. The hall is spacious and the staff is really kind. The only dissapointing thing is the wifi which is not very good. I recommend it!!

The downsides: hard to find, not centrally located, signs are no where to be found indicating the hotel location either on the highway nor on the roadways. The hotel is located in the sticks( meaning in open area); but yet they charge for parking when they have a parking garage that can handle well over 500 vehicles. The restaurant is really a cafeteria; which closes at 10pm. Made the reservation 6 weeks in advances and they couldn't accommodate my request for either a double bed or queen bed; and to top it off the front desk clerk was rude also during check in. Over rated hotel!!!

Whilst this hotel is situated within the grounds of a hospital, the hotel itself is brilliant, very modern, very spacious. The staff were very friendly and nothing was a bother to them. The hotel is modern, the facilities are great, the rooms comfortable, bathrooms are very big with a separate shower.

The parking is a bit of a challenge, but I asked the carpark staff explained that you park below, and take the lift to reception. I thought it was a great find, the staff were lovely, ok you eat in a decent cafe.. I was traveling alone so didn't want a 3 course meal, I wanted secure parking.. A decent room with a bath, an efficient breakfast and easy check out all of which I got. For what I paid I thought it was fantastic, if you want a lot more.. Pay a lot more

This new hotel has two downsides and one upside. Downside one is that at the time of writing it is not on the map, Garmin or probably Tom Tom. This problem is overcome by setting your destination to be the Hospital University of Leon. When approaching at the front (West) entrance you will see the Hotel close by on your right but as downside two you can not easily stop to unload. Go into the €9 per day car park below the hotel where you will see a sign on a lift to the hotel. Go to the reception with your car park ticket and all should then be well. The hotel is modern, the facilities are fine, the rooms comfortable, the staff friendly and the price good for what you get including a good continental breakfast. Busses are readily accessible close by and the buss service of Leon is good. Beware of the nasty round concrete blocks set into the curb round the hospital and hotel as these can seriously damage your car etc… The local authorities have done all that they can to make even temporary stopping difficult, frustrating and risky.

This hotel is extremely difficult to find, and when you do eventually guess that you have arrived, where do you park and where is the entrance?? We were greeted quite abruptly by a female receptionist after a very stressful long journey, who took the passport details then without explanation passed us over to a young male colleague so she could deal with a Spanish couple who just walked in. He was more helpful but we had to press him for details about parking. The room was large and clean, obviously intended for disabled use with a very low washbasin and easy access shower, but a disabled person would not be able to open the window as the handle was about 5 feet from the ground, also it opened fully inwards, on the 2nd floor, not the usual restricted safety catch as in England. The cafe was very busy with presumably hospital visitors and even staff (in whites, having beer and tapas!). The barman was left to cope alone and was not happy, trying to serve several people at once so we had to wait a long time just for a drink, but he gave us a small plate of tapas too. As we had driven up from southern Spain we did not want to have to search for a restaurant, so we turned up at the time given on the printed menu at the entrance to the cafe and restaurant area, but it did not open. My husband went to reception to ask why and was told again sharply that it did not open at night, which was obviously not true, as later a group of young people went in, and the barrier was put back behind them. It could be that it was not open just that night because it was the 1st May, a holiday in Spain, but there was no explanation of that anywhere. We had little alternative but to eat in the cafe again, which had a limited menu mainly of baguettes and tapas. A football match was just starting on the large screen TV with the sound turned up fully, it was more like a Benidorm sportsbar than a 4 star hotel, and this would have been the same if we were in the restaurant, because it was right next to it. We ate quickly and took our drinks upstairs. The 3 floors of rooms are inside an outer opaque glass wall, like galleries so you can see all 3 levels, and of course HEAR all 3 levels, when anyone goes to their rooms, as they did at all hours. Also the walls are paper thin as the hairdryer next door proved, it sounded like it was in the same room (at 1am!) The continental breakfast buffet was good with lots of choice. Don't forget to get reception to authorise your parking ticket, which they don't remind you of, or you have to pay full charges.

Sometimes little details add up to disappointment. Parking for 9€ in a HUGE garage full of empty spaces seems like a rip-off. The parking fee was not clearly indicated when reserving (via The location is not handy for the town, and the huge hospital next door affects the impression of the hotel itself negatively. The young woman at reception was not terribly friendly, despite it being Christmas day. The woman who was at the reception when we left was friendlier. The rooms themselves are perfectly clean and modern, and the shower is excellent. At 41€ per night + 9€ parking it's good value. But something about the whole experience left a bad impression after the fact. Do yourself a favor and get a charming place in town instead.
