Stayed at this hotel over Christmas 2017. The staff were helpful and engaging. Great breakfasts, good bar service and easy parking. Hotel rooms are comfortable and spacious. Rppm staff very helpful. Room service prompt and helpful. Totally recommend this hote.
We attended the NYE dinner with family and friends. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we checked in. We found all the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they all went that extra mile to make sure we had a wonderful evening. Food and live band were excellent and the breakfast was really good too with plenty of choices. Would certainly recommend this event to anyone who may consider attending in the future.
My friend took me to New years eve celebration , It was my first visit in hotel outside London , was very impressed by the hotel atmosphere everything was amazing. At front desk the staffs were so happy and friendly right from we stepped in .The Grove suite was fabulously decorated, and excellent food , Beef was Top-notch. Music was fab too but it was bit louder during service but cant complain much . Staffs were professional and helpful, special thanks to Anil for arranging delicious Spiced tea, which I was not expected. Thank you to all members, We are already to planning to visit again.
I'm not normally one to write negative reviews and I did give the hotel an opportunity to resolve the various issues I am mentioning here, but they were totally disinterested at the reception desk. Sadly, we really regret staying here for New Year's Eve and it was an expensive mistake. The hotel experience described in the other reviews I've read is unrecognisable based on our trip, making me wonder if they are not real reviews. We chose the hotel as we were visiting the area and wanted to stay somewhere with an indoor swimming pool. We treated ourselves to an upgraded room with 'Executive Lounge' access.as a special treat for New Year. We weren't attending any of the events being held at the hotel for New Year's Eve, so intended to have a quiet meal and low key New Year. We were aware from previous reviews that some of the rooms looked inwards, over the atrium and we had one of these - apparently newly refurbished. Not particularly light or large or luxurious for a supposedly upgraded room - and no bigger than the other rooms, but ok on the whole. We assumed there would be soundproofing but when the thumping music from one of their events started around 10pm, it was clear that this was not the case. It carried on at an incredible level until almost 2am. I understand that it was New Year's Eve but we really thought 2am was excessive for the noise as it was absolutely impossible to sleep. It's not clear why they couldn't have put those not attending the events in rooms facing outwards rather than in rooms facing into the atrium. When we have stayed at other hotels at New Year where events have been held, this has always been the case when we have requested a quieter room. If we'd known it was going to be the case, we'd have gone elsewhere. Reception were totally disinterested in even registering the fact that we were unhappy when I spoke to them the following morning. I was not really impressed with their attitude - it was really disappointing that they seemed to care so little. Other factors, in addition to the noise, that would put me off staying in this hotel (or indeed Marriott Hotels) again were: - mean portions of food, expensively priced in the bar - for example a tiny 'steak ciabatta' for £13 (with no side dish and a small, square bun) - having to pay for parking on top of a room costing more than £150 a night and having to get tickets to exit the car park every time you want to go anywhere - having to pay for wifi in the room - only 1 of the 3 lifts were working and, worryingly, the stairs ended in a locked firedoor into Reception, which we could not open at all - disinterested and uncommunicative reception staff - totally underwhelming, bland and dull 'executive lounge' - don't bother 'upgrading' in my opinion - considerably reduced swimming / leisure facility access over the New Year period - smell of pain and 'Beware building site - no access' signs as we left the lift onto our floor My advice would be to stay elsewhere if you have a choice.
We frequently visit the Marriott Leicester. The hotel and rooms are maintained to a high standard. The heart of the hotel beats through its staff. In particular, Selwyn, Michael and Jamie. They provided us with outstanding service. They always go above and beyond to make sure all our needs are catered for. They make our visits truly memorable and this is why we continually visit the hotel. A true credit to the company!
We had to leave the hotel at 5am on a cold morning to get our flight. The check out staff sent us on our way with complimentary hot coffee on a cold morning! This is just typical of the friendly helpful staff at this hotel. Nice rooms, always clean.
Worst service ever!! Been to a few hotels in my time but this was the worst experience by far. Booked executive rooms online with breakfast. When we got to the hotel those rooms were not available so downgraded us and said they would give the amenities for the executive. Also there was no breakfast so they said we can use the executive lounge and there will be breakfast there. That was also a lie as there was no breakfast there. Checking out we went to complain. No manager or deputy manager available, so the duty manager tried to deal with it. Instead made us feel like we are trying to get some freebies or something, felt very belittled and cheap even though we paid in full for a service we never received. After explaining to the duty manager that the service was not what we had expected especially of marriot hotel she accepted the mistake was on their part and there was some communication problem on their team. This was little consolation for us as we had to check out as it was afternoon at which point the duty manager says maybe she can sort some sort breakfast for us. This made us even more upset and belittled. She then went to get on the only senior manager available which was the food and beverages manager. Having a lengthy conversation with he offered nothing better than the duty manager and we asked them to give us a written statement of their mistake and what they planned to do to rectify. All solutions were bad and speaking to him seemed futile as they offered nothing decent and we got the feeling that our custom their was not appreciated (even though we had paid more than the service we got). In the end we were fed up and running late so we accepted their offer to refund us only 30% back. This was just the worst experience ever with very incompetent staff. Avoid at all costs
I had just one night stay during my business trip. The front desk staff was so efficient and so kind when handling me during check in and check out process. The room itself has a comfort bed and good looking design. Just perfect for my trip.
The room was reasonably priced. Upon arrival the room wasn't ready which is fair enough, after a long day traveling we finally got into the room and had some "down time". After visiting the main lobby bar I've never encountered such a miserable "sloppy" girl. Complete let down to the business and to be honest, made me feel awkward and that I shouldn't be at the bar. The room itself was maintained and other staff very polite. Let down by young young at bar as destroyed atmosphere and made us both feel sad.
Great place to stay - probably the only place to stay in Leicester Safe parking, super clean rooms, pool, gym and a really helpful team Marriott are my new default business hotel Not much else I can say about it -
