We arrived back to the UK during rush hour and didn't want to have to drive home at that time after travelling all day. We had a friendly welcome and went up to the room which was perfectly clean with very comfottable beds. We couldn't tell much difference between the 'soft' and 'firm' pillows but they were comfy all the same. We found the room got quite cold and had to turn the heater right up, but we both got a decent night's sleep. We were in a room facing towards the airport and did hear some noise when aircraft were taking off but it wasn't too bad. We ate in the hotel restaurant as the weather was vile and it saved us having to go out in the rain (The Otter at Kegworth is lovely though if you fancy venturing out). My husband said his pizza was the best he's had in ages "Even better than Dominoes!" High praise indeed! I had the chicken pasta, which was also very nice. We sat in the bar area for a while which had a calm atmosphere. In the morning, breakfast had everything we needed. It was nice that the food area was separate from the dining area. Other Holiday Inns I've stayed at have it all in one space which can be a bit chaotic. We had a relaxed breakfast before checking out. All of the staff were polite and smiley. We would stay here again.
I have tried a few hotels in this area over the last couple months and chose to try this hotel. The rooms are a little cramped, no minibar fridges but it has decent TV entertainment and Wi-Fi. You can open the windows which is nice to get fresh air and the shower is decent as well. No self serve laundry and decent breakfast and dinner options round this place out.
We have been used this hotel for a number of years for our disabled power chair football team. The team can’t do enough to help us. This weekend exceeded our expectations. It was the captains birthday who is also my son. His room was decorated there was a cake and card. He was delighted. The whole team helped us to be together for food and cake on the Saturday evening. All had a great time. In the past Darren purchased bed risers to assist some of our team members who need to bed hoisted into bed. He also got in touch when new automatic doors we fitted. The staff always go the extra mile. our team members have life limiting conditions so quality time with family and friends is so important. Ihg policy of a free carers room makes a huge difference as many of the team member have benefits for income. Many would not be able to enjoy the social side as they would have to travel each day. This has serious affects on a players health and well-being. This policy makes life so much easier Reason for Visit: powerchair football competition
Booked a double and a twin room for my party of 4, and got exactly that, so already onto a winner because another well known chain doesn't seem to know the difference between the two. Rooms had all you needed including soap and shower gel. (Both from fixed refillable dispensers, so tick the environmental box.) We arrived at 21:15 and noticed that the restaurant service finished at 9pm. However, were still able to order from the late menu - pizza, chicken curry, or burger with nachos, so didn't go hungry. No noticeable noise from the airport despite the close proximity. Could not tell any difference at all between the firm and soft pillows from the "pillow menu" but got a decent night's sleep anyway. Decent self service hot/cold buffet breakfast included. Helpful staff throughout. I'm deducting a star for: a) charging £5 to park overnight when I've paid for a room and b) that stupid bi-hinged toilet door which caught my fingers in the inner doorframe twice because there's not nearly as much to open the door as you expect. Why would I want to sit on a toilet with the door closed when there's only a translucent panel separating the shower cubicle?
Great for the airport very clean with comfortable beds with fresh smelling rooms Staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast choices are very good in the morning. Easy to find the only comment is having to pay 5 quid for parking how are you supposed to get there without a car especially if you've booked park and stay
I recently had a pre-flight stay here. I love the Holiday Inn Express brand and usually have nothing but good to say about them. Unfortunately this one wasn't great. We had pre-paid the room before arrival. We entered into a nice bright lobby to check in. Staff were not particularly welcoming or helpful but they did the job and got us a room key not before charging us extra for car parking which seemed to be the most important thing on their minds. We went up to the room straight away as we were tired and needed to rest. The room was in the typical Holiday inn layout but seemed smaller than usual ?? Also the room only seemed to have two electrical outlets in it which was annoying as we needed three. All this was OK but then I entered the bathroom. Typical shower toilet sink layout which I usually like. I checked out the shower before use and it was covered in mould. Not the hard to get off stuff more of the I haven't been cleaned in a while stuff. So I got the job of cleaning it before anyone else ventured in there. Luckily I always pack antibac wipes which did the job but I don't expect to have to clean hotel rooms after a full day at work. TV worked OK and daughter was fine in the third bed. However the main bed was a different story, I have never had a bed as bad as this one - springs everywhere. As a result had a pretty bad night and got up with a bad back - just what you need before a flight. We went down to breakfast at 6.00 am knowing that the hot food doesn't arrive until 6.30 am. Well, the cold food didn't seem to be very fresh or plentiful even though we were the only ones initially in the breakfast area. Staff seemed to find us an annoyance at that time of the morning. So we quickly had a drink and a piece of toast and checked out. So far from being the intended nice start to the holiday, I ended up cleaning a shower, having a bad back for the next two days and we also had to purchase a second breakfast at the airport . Poor show Holiday Inn Express, most unusual for the brand and such a disappointment......
Friendly staff, efficient and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast starts early which is a real advantage and hotel is geared for "pack and go breakfast". Plenty of parking space (although for charge).
We stayed here the night before an early flight and found the rooms to be spotlessly clean. They were warm and cosy and the beds very comfortable! We ate in the restaurant and the fish and chips were delicious and along with a very good breakfast got our holiday off to a great start. Thankyou also to the helpful reception staff!
Clean and comfortable, didn’t try the food but had drinks ,nice seating area staff friendly aircon a little noisy. It was ok as an overnight stay not very well signed took a few wrong turns ,needs better signage.
We booked for pre flight stay and return night stay with park and ride package. The room was ideal clean warm and very comfortable. May we thank all the staff for a very pleasant stay nothing was too much trouble and efficiently and politely dealt with. Eases the stress when a newcomer. Food and drinks were reasonable prices and enjoyable on both occasions. Access to a continental breakfast at 04.00hrs was ideal for us, prior the reception arranged taxi pick up All in all a very enjoyable experience we will be doing this again.
