My husband and I stayed in this lovely hotel. It was a great place to spend a night as we wanted to explore what Leicester has to offer. It is easy to access the city from this hotel. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, the bathroom sufficiently spacious. Very generous buffet breakfast which we lingered over and didn't reel rushed to move on. All in all a lovely stay.
I stayed here again last week and yet again had a great time. I love this hotel. The rooms are so clean and the breakfast is excellent. The staff at breakfast are really nice and friendly but this time I found the reception staff a little unpleasant. Checking was fine, but during my stay and on check out I have to say a little engagement would have been nice. My hello as I waked by one day went unanswered and on check out, not as much as a goodbye. First time i have experienced this level of apathy at this great hotel. That said I will be back.
Had a fab night last night in this hotel, we stayed in room 106 which is the space themed room, and it was brilliant! My space mad son loved it and it topped of a brill day at the national space centre for his birthday. The staff had left a surprise box of chocolates in the room with a personalised birthday wish for him which was a lovely touch. The few pictures of this room on their website or on here really don’t do it justice! All the little touches are spot on. First of all there is plenty of lighting which i loved, from little spotlights that look like stars on the ceiling to bedside lamps a wall feature light up illusion mirror and night lights! The night light is subtle in the master bedroom and bathroom, which is fab for anyone needing a loo in the night as no need to put any bright lights on! The decor was fun and futuristic and the bed was so comfy,i had a AMAZING night sleep. The tv is huge and we all had complimentary dressing gowns for adults and kids and slippers for adults. Plenty of hot chocolate, tea, coffee and biscuits were provided aswell. The best bit is the separate children’s sleeping area which is designed like the inside of a spaceship with space bedding on solid bunkbeds, the blue mood lighting is fab aswell. The bathroom was spacious and there was plenty of towels provided,3 towels each for the 5 of us (we also had a travelcot with bedding provided by hotel for our 2 yr old) I Loved the anti steam mirror, nice touch, all these little touches make such a difference. Plenty of complimentary toiletries that smelled divine including cute ones for the kids especially for sensitive skin. The large heated towel rail was lovely and bathroom was lovely and clean and the shower was brilliant aswell. Breakfast was lovely, the staff were really helpful and attentive and the setting was lovely, not much selection compared to other hotels we’ve stayed in, but what was there i couldn’t fault and it was included free on our booking aswell. You can expect hot buffet cooked food, fried or scrambled egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, bakebeans, sausage, bacon and veggie sausages on request. White or brown sliced brad, mini croissants & pain au chocolat, cereal, fresh fruit and fruit juices. Look out for the stairs that lead to nowhere.....there is a little doggy waiting to meet you (our 2 yr old loved this!) The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them,we had a lovely welcome on checkin which is always nice. There is plenty of free onsite parking and it is a really easy pleasant 10 min walk down the famous “New Walk” pedestrianised for over 200 years to the old town. Fab location, would love to stay here again, but think we’ve unfortunately seen all that leicester has to offer now!
New Walk was always one of my favourite places in Leicester. I used to walk down it passing the Belmont every day and always liked the look when I was a student in Leicester. Finally, 40 years later I stayed here. Staying in as many chain hotels as I do it’s great to stay in individual hotels with a character all their own and I liked the Belmont. Firstly, there’s plenty of safe parking spaces onsite. Next, the staff are welcoming and helpful. Thirdly, I liked my room, which was well-furnished and quiet. Bathroom was okay. Breakfast was very good with a buffet plus a menu you can order from. Public rooms are excellent. The bar looked worth a visit but was shut by the time I got back some time after 11:00pm. And they let me leave my car in their car park for a few hours after I checked out and went to a meeting. Believe me, in this part of Leicester parking isn’t easy to come by so that was really helpful of them. Would I stay again? I surely would and hopefully on my next visit I can make it to the bar as well.
I visited the Belmont for a celebration lunch for an old friend. I was bringing two very elderly guests, both of whom had limited mobility and one with a blue badge. I rang the hotel several hours in advance to ask their help with a parking space near to the entrance. They told me that it is their policy not to reserve parking spaces, even for people with disabilities. They only have two spaces for disabled drivers, and said that both were in use. I questioned whether this was in the spirit of the Disability Discrimination Act, but was ignored. I managed to get my elderly passengers there in the end, but the staff attitude marred what should have been a very enjoyable occasion.
Lovely quirky hotel with great friendly staff. Good - free car parking which is rare in a central location. Breakfast sausages really nice and the option of soya and almond milk was perfect for me. Will definitely return to stay again.
I stayed at the Belmont hotel for 3 nights when I was in Leicester for a business partnership deal. Even though I paid my whole costs before my arrival they took 60 pounds as a ‘deposit’ and have not give the money back during my check out. The room was okay. There were no signs of hairdryer which was at the table’s drawer. Rather than hiding things and expecting customers to find them out they could have put a tiny note at the table that says hairdryer was at the drawer. Breakfast was not included. It was my first time that after tons of hotels and 23 countries I have been to that a hotel sells BREAKFAST to its customers seperately. I definitely do NOT recommend the place and its a money trap nothing else. There are many other similar hotels in leicester. Furthermore, I mailed the hotel 3 times however still have NOT got a response yet.
Friends booked this hotel for one night as it was a reasonable distance from the National Space Centre and also for walking distance for the centre of Leicester. For 3 couples, we all had rooms on the first floor which were very clean with comfortable beds. Parking at the front of the hotel was limited but there was a bigger car park round the back. Check in was easy and staff were very helpful, to the extent that they went out of their way to set up a table for six at breakfast when we were seen sitting altogether in reception. Breakfast was plentiful with hot and cold food. Tea and coffee was served at the table. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anybody visiting Leicester.
great staff especially reception great position great walk to town lovely room clean and tidy only downside the chef cant do eggs benedict hard boiled eggs hollendaise sauce weird!!!! otherwise decent brekkie
Stayed here 3 nights with friends. The location was excellent, being away from the noisy bustle of the town centre and right on New Walk. Very close to the university campus and de Montfort Hall.It looks as if it was once several grand houses knocked into one. The rooms are imposing and well-equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, an ironing board and iron, hairdryer and even a fan. There was a massive variety at breakfast and the staff were only too pleased to help. The decor is a little outdated and could do with some TLC, but I understand it has just been bought by a new owner, so this may well happen.
