I would not recommend staying here. The apartment was unclean and thick with dust when we arrived. The lounge area also sported a smell of stale cigarettes. The staff did not seem bothered about this. After asking them to clean the apartment twice, they only seemed to make it worse leaving other people's hair on the sinks. We had to clean the apartment ourselves to make it hygienic for a 9 month old baby to stay in. They charged us €10 extra a day for our dog. They should have paid is €10 a day to clean our dog following the stay. The apartment is tired and requires renovation.
We are staying in a "house superieure" facing the baie. It's one of three. We've spoken to reception about our disappointment regarding the metal fence blocking our view, as well as the ineffective privacy dividers. They say they will speak to the council about it and implied the fence had only been up for a few days. However it is clear the weeds have been growing up behind the fence for a while. Having just stayed at La Belle Dune with a lovely Lake view & growing bamboo privacy dividers, this outlook into scrubland was a shock. It cost over a thousand Euros more a week! In addition the house is smaller and not 100% as we woukd expect - one duvet cover not clean, 3 chipped glasses, a cigarette butt on the "patio"... Plus, having arrived on time at 4:50, we had to wait 50 minutes to get into our accommodation, which smelt fishy. What is also poor is that we were informed on enquiry that as we had a roof rack, we could buy a 30 Euro weekly pass and park roadside. We arrived yesterday in the middle of a festival!! A note was put on our car to remove it from the hotel drive (we thought it was just the front three spaces that we had to vacate for safety). We eventually parked at the station... tho not comfortable as locals told us we might not have a roof box on collection! We will need to bring it back into town tomorrow... Note, 24 Euros per day for parking in Zone 1, 30 in Zone 2 (beach area)!! We looked everywhere for a machine that let us buy the weekly ticket we were told about by email. We trudged home at 9pm, weary boys in tow, without a weekly ticket. When I queried at reception this morning, apparently there is one special machine you can use outside the Tourist Information! Note, some people were removing their roof boxes and leaving them in front of their cars in the underground carpark, but we didn't have the step ladders required for ours, plus what a job at the end of the day!! (even if we had known & booked the required underground parking space in advance!). Hopefully the stay will pick up and the view will be restored...
Pierre et Vacances at Le Crotoy is in a prime location but is vastly overpriced for what you get. The rooms are tired, facilities don't work properly. Things are difficult to find (look under the microwave or under the sink for you white chopping board!). A 4 bed apartment means kids sleeping in the living room. Unless you pay extra for broadband, you will be stuck with low speed Wifi and French TV.
Perfect location to visit Baie de Somme starting from Le Crotoy. Next to the seaside, walking distance from the little centre of the village. Parking space available to be paid extra at reasonable price. Warm and professional welcoming, nice little studios well equipped. Suggested for families. We did not use the inner swimming pool but it looks really nice for kids. Breakfast in the room foresees only sweet food (not salted) but still good quality. Fresh baguette and croissants in the morning if requested.
We had two amazing nights in flat 223 of the residence, which has the most beautiful view over the Baie de Somme. I did not want to leave! We are definitely going to return. Parking was very easy with the underground parking and lift to ground, 1st and 2nd floors. Staff were super friendly. The beach is obviously right on your door step. It is really ideal for people who find walking up and down difficult as everything is flat in Le Crotoy! There are some small supermarkets, bakers, butchers...anything you want within a 5 mins walk. It is just an incredibly relaxing place, don't expect anything too lively to happen. On the day we left, it was market day and it was very busy and full of delicious foods. There is a very long walk / bike ride you can do on the sea front, all flat of course, but we did not get to do it as the weather turned and we had to leave. We visited the Parc de Marquenterre which was just the most relaxing experience too. Flat 223 is a 9 person flat and it was very comfy for us as there was only 4 of us! But all the rooms were spacious and clean. Kitchen had everything you might need. Basically, go for it! I want to go back there with friends and family.
Spacious rooms, secure car parking, balcony with sea view -what more do you want?We know the area well and this accommodation really fits the bill. Quality at a reasonable price Good local restaurants are the icing on the cake.
Le Crotoy itself is a little seaside village next to a large tidal estuary with a sandy beach. Although it may look like all sand in pictures there is quite a lot of squidgy mud, which is fine is you don't mind mud. We saw a seal one evening. The sea comes in then sea goes out a long way, don't be expecting to swim in the sea, or even see it for much of the time. Great to watch sun setting. From the residence it's a short walk along the beach to the restaurant area. The accommodation (we stayed in a house) is tired. Front missing from dishwasher, grouting in bathroom needs replacing, light switch broken which is a safety issue. Outside needs painting. Outdoor pool has very very few sun loungers and no parasols. The pool area needs a clean and maintenance too, repairing of broken grids, a jet wash and some re-painting. Hotel facilities except having small unattended pools are null. Quiet but does really need some more attention on maintenance. I think Centre parks has forgotten their name is attached to this place.
We stayed here for 10 nights at the end of May. The weather was glorious - 29 degs on the first day. The outdoor pool even though it was very hot didn't open until the 1st of June, when it did open it was lovely as was the indoor pool. Parking is charged as others have said, its far cheaper than parking on the street though. We hired bikes from P&V which were well maintained, cheap and there are plenty of places to visit locally by bike. The accommodation looked very smart and was clean. But there were things that lacked maintenance, shower screen leaked everywhere and none of the plugs held water in the bath or sinks. Le Croytoy has a South facing beach which means you keep the sun until late in the evening - this is quite unique for Northern France and makes for a great holiday destination. Lots of nice places to eat and a friendly town. We visited the nearby town of Saint Valerie a couple of times, once on the steam train and once by car - again friendly and good places to eat. Le Croytoy is on the very tidal Somme estuary which means safe swimming in the sea is difficult. Paddling is ok but you need to watch out for strong currents as the tides change if you go swimming. We really enjoyed our holiday and would give P&V 4.5 stars. To gain 5 stars P&V would need to improve maintenance and provide local information in your room - it was the first place I've ever stayed which provided nothing.
Le Crotoy is a wonderful small town for a short trip with beautiful sunsets and beach. Pierre & Vacance properties are ideally located. Would recommend booking for 6 people and sea view to ensure 2 separate bedrooms. Bring extra bathrobes as you only get 2 and have to pay for more. Also, be warned that parking is also an additional cost and should be booked in advance. Finally, the outdoor pool is not open until 1 June. Still a fab location though and plenty of delicious seafood to buy and eat in.
friendly staff and cleanliness. need improving on some of the facilities : coffee and restaurant on site. swimming pool is open only from 1st of June. No coffee or restaurant onsite . Cannot see much of the sea, only for 3-4 hours a day when you have a water near by and then everything is gone.
