My wife and I stayed in their best room, the "Staubach Top-Suite Holz 100" as described on the website, for two nights in early October. The hotel is located directly up the hill from the Lauterbrunnen train station. The quick way up is via staircase and small path, but if you have luggage as we did, the easier way will be via road which wraps around in front of the COOP store to the hotel. Also the cable car to or from Grutschalp is right behind the hotel which works out great if doing a round-trip Schilthorn excursion via Murren. As many have mentioned, there is no elevator, so having the top room (4th floor) is a bit of a workout with heavy luggage or if you plan to be in and out several times a day. I initially made two trips up for my bag and my wifes, as even being fit in my 30's is a workout with 50+ pound bags up 3 1/2 flights of stairs. And unlike in Zermatt, there are no staff or attendants to offer to lend a hand. But back to the room....this room #40 is EXACTLY as shown on the website, spacious and modern with incredible views from the many windows and large balcony. Even the skylights have remote controlled blinds. Just a few minor suggestions or notes.... There was basically only 1 English station day or night (news) on the TV out of 45 or so channels in case you plan on relaxing with a show or movie at night, so bring your downloaded media on a tablet or laptop if desired. The bathroom could use some hooks for towels / cloths since there are basically non, and washcloths are available only by request. They also supply only a shampoo / body wash combo in the bathrooms, so if you need otherwise, like a bar of soap, plan ahead. We found the included breakfast room spread to be sufficient, full of tasty beads, cheese, eggs, sausage, juices and the typical continental options. My wife especially enjoyed the high end coffee machine at her fingertips. It might have been nice to have an extra meat option like bacon, but maybe it's just me as a warm blooded meat eater. We did thoroughly enjoy the hotel restaurant for dinner both nights and found the pricing to be very reasonable compared to those in Zermatt. The menu is full of hearty portions and everything tasted great especially the pizza, Cordon Bleu and Rosti I had. You can also charge your meal to the room which is convenient. Overall a peaceful stay in a beautiful room, just don't expect any spas or luxury amenities like available in Zermatt... This is a much more laid back, traditional Swiss village with a more "self service" environment. Splurge for the H-Top suite for the few extra bucks, you'll enjoy it and get in some exercise at the same time. ;)
This was our first experience in Lauterbrannen and we loved the view from our room at the Silberhorn! The staff was friendly and made us to go lunches and breakfast when we left early for trips. The room had a private bedroom with separate couch area and a breathtaking view! Very quiet location and a quick walk to the train station and gondola.
This hotel exceeded my expectations! Upon arrival, our room was ready before check-in and the lady at the front desk kindly walked us to our room on the 4th floor overlooking the waterfall (so worth it). Our room was modern and extremely clean, and because we were on the top floor it had sky lights, which made it magical. The bathroom was huge with a walk-in shower and large tub. The view from the balcony is just unbeatable. The breakfast buffet was amazing with a large choice of foods and even vegan-friendly options! We took our coffee outside into the beautiful gardens filled with flowers that they have (do this, it's so worth it) which offers an amazing view of the beautiful hotel and breathtaking mountains. I love this hotel and I can't wait to stay here again on my next trip to Lauterbrunnen!
The hotel is located near the Lauterbrunnen train station and the cable card station. It is most convenient if you try to go to Zungfraujoch on the other side of the valley or go to Murren/Schilthorn on this side of the valley. The room is clean, decent size with fantastic view of the Staubbach Falls. The restaurant is good with great service but I am not a great fan of local Swiss food. Try the other dishes. Got room value for my money considering Swiss hotels in general are always expensive. Recommend to Stay here for a minimum of three nights for you to fully enjoy the Lauterbrunnen valley which I think is among one of the most beautiful places in the world.
This hotel is in an excellent location and a very short walk from train station. The rooms are so spacious and made of beautiful cedar and modern bathrooms. The rooms included both a couch and lounge chair and amazing views from all parts of the room. We chose a valley view where you can be mesmerized by the waterfall and the hotel's gorgeous garden with walking path to higher ground to see more amazing views. The breakfast was superb and the hotel owners/staff very friendly and helpful. This hotel is so amazing that we want to stay several nights next time.
This hotel will make a great stop on your journey. We stayed two nights. If you can handle walking up stairs you will be rewarded with a beautiful view from your balcony. This is the best hotel in town. The staff was most welcoming and gave good advice on what activities would be good for us each day based on the weather. We had dinner there one night and really enjoyed the local food. The included breakfast was great. The hotel is up on a hill and has easy parking. It's right near the train station and bus stop.
We stayed at the Silberhorn for three nights in September 2019. The hotel is in a perfect and quiet position and only a short walk away from the train station and the cable car. Car parking is free and with easy access to the hotel's 2nd floor. The hotel doesn't have a lift which may be a problem for some guests. Internet was secure and worked well. We had a room facing down the valley to the mountains and waterfall - it wasn't cheap but it was great to sleep with the curtains open and wake to that view. Continental breakfast was excellent with a good range of food (small point - coffee was from a machine but we would prefer to be served with fresh coffee/tea). Our room was modern with a comfortable bed and a very up-to-date bathroom. Although we could hear footsteps above, there was no sound from rooms either side of ours. In the breakfast room the background music was very quiet (thank goodness!) and this helped to create a calm atmosphere. Welcoming and helpful reception and staff. We will definitely book here again when staying in Lauterbrunnen.
We just spent three nights here. Our room was amazing looking over Staubach Falls. The bed was very comfortable and the down comforter is so cozy. Breakfast was good. The staff was very helpful. We ate dinner there one night and it was delicious. Loved sitting on the balcony overlooking the falls. We would definitely stay here again!
I stayed here for 5 nights in Lauterbrunnen. Mere words can't describe how just how wonderful this place is. I had a generous sized room for the money with the most comfortable bed. I also had my own balcony - when I stepped outside I thought that I had died and went to Heaven. What a view! You can see a waterfall, the mountains, and the cable car going up to Murren. The whole place has a certain old world charm to it. Worth every franc.
As advertised, it's a pretty steep walk form the train station. The hotel confused me. You walk between their 2 restaurants to check in in a very small lobby. Our rooms weren't ready but they did their best to get them done as soon as they could which we appreciated. Our room was actually more like an apartment with a view of the Staubach Falls which were beautiful. The furniture is very dated and needs to be upgraded. Included breakfast was very good and the staff was very helpful. It's locate adjacent to the cable car which takes you to a train to Muren and eventually by cable care to the Schilthorn. The rooms were clean, the food was good, and in all honesty I was hoping for a little better.
